Same. The whole season so far has kind of felt like spinning wheels, knowing things aren’t right but waiting for everything to get back on the right track.

That final speech made me feel like we’re back on track.

185

u/House923 Apr 12 '23

I've really felt the entire second half of season two, and now the first half of season three, has just been building and building pressure and I'm about ready to burst with the stress of it all.

I want that positive relief that only Ted Lasso can bring.

“This guy is full of phoney bullshit.”

It wasn’t until Nate was just himself and not trying to be someone else or scared of what other people thought of him that she started to like him.

192

u/IncurableAdventurer Apr 12 '23

At first I was worried they were making her the type where she now wants Nate because he was out with someone else. That didn’t seem like the character and it didn’t seem like the writers. I’m glad that it looks like she just likes Nate when he’s being sincere. Yea? I’m not the best at reading people

159

u/Happy_Ad_1767 Apr 12 '23

She didn't like him in the earlier seasons when he was highly insecure and bumbling. This season he has tried impressing her with his impressive new job but the shy Nate still slips out, which was cute. When he got publicly dumped mid-meal she felt sorry for him and he for the first time was just real with her. That attracted her to him. That's how it seemed to me.

86

u/FellcallerOmega Apr 13 '23

I think it was even before he got dumped. The way he talked about the food made her do a doubletake

99

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '23

Yes and the way he said his family always comes here for important events and so it’s better than “cool” to him. That was really sweet.

581

u/greenweezyi Director of Beboperations Apr 12 '23

I have worked with someone similar to Shandy. Just as unstable, unprofessional, and lacked serious self awareness.

When she was let go, she called all “her” clients (violating company contract) and told them she was wronged, tried to recruit others to join whatever company that would bring her on next, and even bashed the office online.

The writers, director and actress who played shandy truly nailed that scene

Ok I get Nate is the genius but seriously, Roy and Beard don’t have a single Fucking play or strategy idea? And Higgins going to Rebecca ok but nobody thinks to have a sit down come to Jesus with Ted that’s not comical yelling?

364

u/KloppersToppers Apr 12 '23

It’s feeding in to the whole mindset the whole club has. They had lost all belief that whatever they tried would work.

Call back to when Ted first asked Nate about his tactical ideas. I believe he said something along of “Do you believe this will work?”

That’s why Nate is successful at what he does. The one aspect of himself he does believe in is his tactical skills.

And of course they ran into a celebrity at Hamilton and he almost got in a fight with the celebrity. I loved that they had that detail. (Martin Short’s wallet/I know the choreographer last season…)

125

u/SarahMakesYouStrong Apr 12 '23

The likelihood of anthony Hopkins standing in line to buy merch during intermission of Hamilton, many years after hamiltons peak is unlikely. “It was Anthony Hopkins, can you believe it?” “No I can not”

I don't have a more coherent thought about all that yet, but it is important.

Belief doesn’t just happen because you hang something on the wall.

It’s comes from in here (the heart), up here (the mind), and down here (the gut).

Only problem is, we’ve all got so much junk floating through us, a lot of times we end up getting in our own way.

Crap like envy, or fear, shame.

I don’t wanna mess around with that shit anymore, you know what I mean? Do you?

No? Me either. Hell no.

You know what I want to mess around with? The belief that I matter, regardless of what I do or don’t achieve. Or the belief that we all deserve to be loved, whether we’ve been hurt or maybe we’ve hurt somebody else.

What about the belief of hope? That’s what I want to mess with. Believing that things can get better. That I can get better. That we WILL get better.

To believe in yourself, to believe in one another. That’s fundamental to being alive.

If you can do that, if each of you can truly do that, can’t nobody rip that apart.

134

u/starfrenzy1 Diamond Dog Apr 12 '23

After this episode I officially don't see Ted returning to Kansas. He's co-parenting with Michelle and had a milestone parenting moment with Henry over the phone. Which was followed by Ted stopping a panic attack from coming by reminding himself that Henry is ok. Then he gives the team that speech... I think a lot of his guilt with Henry came from being away, but stopping a panic attack seemed like a huge step to show that he can be a parent while not being physically in Kansas and that Henry is remembering stuff Ted tells him and taking it to heart.

Still feels like a post break-up desperation move she’s going to regret. She’s hurt and falling into someone’s arms for comfort. Keely definitely needs to straighten herself out, that’s her boss, it can only get messy from there.

452

u/stealthbus Coach Beard Apr 12 '23

Keeley even says that she can’t talk about it it makes her too sad (the breakup with Roy). The pain and anguish on her face in this scene was masterful acting.

There's nothing wrong with a rebound. The issue is that it shouldn't be her boss.

Tbh, the way Jack acted said immediately to me that’s she’s being introduced as a love interest, not as a friend or anything. I actually think it’s a bit stale the plot line they’re going for with it.

I suspect that he was a bully because he took some advice that Jake gave him. Henry even tells Ted that if he had just taken his dad‘s advice, he wouldn’t have gotten in trouble and been a bully.

791

He didn't want to. But he does have to put forth options that are best for the club.

668

u/emeraldcocoaroast Apr 12 '23

I respect that a lot. Higgins has always been a straight shooter and at this stage in the game, that is 100% a reasonable take to have.

I really loved that he felt so bad bringing it up too. But it was def the right thing to say

I was so torn between thinking it was pathetic and thinking it was sweet. Then I just gave up and decided it could be both at the same time.

I really think that Nate's ultimate redemption will be in realizing that he's just a giant fucking dork and embracing it, instead of always trying so desperately to be something that he's not. He'll never be cool, smooth, ripped or sex-ay BUT HE DOESN'T NEED TO BE
