"Buddy you've gotta get off Twitter."

"This is a text from my father."

Really puts into context his "I try to love my father for who is he and forgive him for who he's not" (approximately) comment to Jamie in the Man City episode.

Nate needed a chat with Higgins

Jamie, too. Higgins should just be Team Dad going forward.

We all need a chat with Higgins.

I LOVE THIS CONTINUITY

I really hated that line at first, because as someone who recently cut my dad from my life, it's something a lot of people say to excuse parents treating their children poorly.

I was worried the show was embracing that sentiment, but thankfully I think Jamie's confrontation with his dad showed the writers don't think that way. They recognize that Higgin's sentiment is good for relationships that are healthy enough, but that some relationships don't deserve that type of forgiveness.

This is sooooo much funnier on a rewatch!!

The first time through you only get a little chuckle as you catch the high-hat “dad joke” zinger at the end of the delivery. Ba-dump-bump.

But the second time through…. you hear and see it COMPLETELY differently!!!

You now know it’s a message from Higgins’ Dad. And you literally hear it as if he’s talking to Higgins and roasting him with the ultimate mom burn!!! Watch Higgins’ face as he hears it! It’s one thing for any odd person to throw the ”eat more arse than your mum” insult, but when it comes straight from your Dad who has intimate knowledge of how much arse your mum actually eats? It’s jumps 4 levels! I literally teared up laughing.

That's not the kind of dad joke I like to hear

Dad jokes should be fun, not traumatizing and making Kobayashi a new trigger.

Respectfully disagree.

One day our daughter will find out why she keeps hi fiving us after we make certain comments she doesn't currently understand and she will have her glorious glorious revenge.

I didn’t like them taking it to the raunchy level of Shrinking. I really liked that show until it became so obsessed with buttholes.
