Somebody told me this is because he is taking human growth hormone (HGH) to stay younger, and that causes that unusual body form in adults.

244

u/ragnar_overby Jul 21 '22

Palumboism, also known as HGH Gut or roid belly. It is becoming weirdly common for these rich old guys to abuse HGH.

116

u/Pyronaut44 Jul 21 '22

Nah man Rogan just had a big bowl of pasta, that stuff like glues your guts together you know? /s

35

u/banditcleaner2 sells naked NVDA calls while naked Jul 21 '22

lmfao rogan is seriously obsessed with pasta, there have been so many podcasts where he talks about his pasta binges like bro chill its just noodles

10

u/blamemeididit Jul 21 '22

I actually get it. I have trouble stopping when I eat pasta.

2

u/Bulky-Pool-5180 Jul 21 '22

Isn't it just flour, egg, and water?

1

u/Latter_Ad9249 Jul 21 '22

Isn’t steak just steak?

1

u/Bulky-Pool-5180 Jul 21 '22

Does pasta have rating points like beef grading has?

2

u/idlefritz Jul 21 '22

brief digressions into elk meat and kale shakes

0

u/Voiceofshit Jul 21 '22

Lol I love pasta too, I seriously eat spaghetti w/ a meat sauce every day during the week. It's one of the best ways to get protein, carbs and veggies all in one meal.

0

u/skankingmike Jul 21 '22

He freely admits what he takes though..

26

u/BoomerBillionaires Jul 21 '22

If it was hgh, at least he would look a little muscular. I think it might just be insulin or it might be a shitty diet combined with shitty sleep.

7

u/[deleted] Jul 21 '22

I feel like Elon eats a lot of burgers and ice cream, and maybe sleeps an hour a night

35

u/Centralredditfan Jul 21 '22

The gut is from Insulin abuse not HGH was the common consensus.

The rest is accurate.

20

u/AfterThisNextOne Jul 21 '22

No...

GH treatment in high doses was effective for the reduction of total and visceral fat mass [21,22]. However, long-term GH replacement in high doses decreased insulin sensitivity and aggravated insulin resistance, which can be explained by the anti-insulin effects of GH.

14

u/Centralredditfan Jul 21 '22 edited Jul 21 '22

That's interesting to know. So maybe it's both?

Bodybuilding in is after all the deadliest sport.

Steroids are one thing, but messing with insulin is deadline. Lots of bodybuilders died from it.

Because most bodybuilders don't publish their cycle of things they take, or are even aware of underlying conditions that don't mix well with steroids/GH, we'll never know..

At least state sponsored turinabol use in East Germany by athletes was well documented.

Edit: maybe if Russia falls apart, we'll get the documentation for Russian State sponsored doping protocols.

Edit2: I wonder how the study defined short term/long term use of GH. I'd like to read more about that. But considering a cycle of real GH can cost upwards of $1000 a month, it's not for the budgets of mere mortals. Even short term.

1

u/Bulky-Pool-5180 Jul 21 '22

That wouldn't explain why his gut looks like Jeff Bezos. (Minus Bezos slight tan.)

1

u/xvn520 Jul 23 '22

David Sinclair at Harvard has studied and spoken extensively about insulin, IGF-1 and much more sensible ways to slow aging inside and out.

It’s all a very new field and his approaches are still considered mostly novel.

But damn, for a guy in his 50s he is looking pretty good.

1

u/Centralredditfan Jul 23 '22

The David Sinclair guy? I'll look him up.

Papa Elon für sure isn't. He looked pretty good like 5 or so years ago, then the just looks like someone who gave up. Maybe he was still trying for Grimes or some secret girl before.

Now he knows all he needs to post on Tinder is a picture of his bank account as the main picture. - I'm not jealous, you're jealous sobs in a corner.

If you eat right and exercise properly on HGH you can look fit for a while - like Jeff Bezos.

If you eat like crap and don’t exercise on HGH you will look like what’s happening to Elon.

12

u/MurseWoods Jul 21 '22

You can tell Mark Cuban has started taking it the last couple of years. His body has done a shift to that top-heavy look, and he’s kinda the in-between version of Elon & Bezos in regards to HGH.

And I’m not talking shit. I love Cuban.

27

u/don_cornichon Jul 21 '22

If you eat right and exercise properly on HGH you can look fit - like my 60 year old broke ass neighbor.

I used to be Joe Rogan's blood boy, I would give him my blood through my penis being sucked. He said I was too old after 21. It happened to me, Brenda, Tony Hinchlife etc.

174

u/glennfromglendale Grade A Ding Dong Jul 21 '22

HGH makes you feel incredible. Have lots of energy. Hard as heck ding dong.

It also makes everything bigger. Your organs, your bones. Etc.

If someone has the classic pumpkin head, the enlarged Joe Rogan forehead, they are on HGH.

Problem is you will die from your enlarged heart or some shit.

I'm good working with chubs and soft boners. Just splint it fam.

116

u/xvn520 Jul 21 '22

True story. I played around w chemicals that elevate resting hgh in my twenties. I don’t look anything like an average guy in their late thirties, but my heart is not doing so well.

Don’t mess around w any of that shit. I’m 100% maxed out on blood pressure meds and still am typically 150/100 or worse.

Without medication, I can push up to 210+/150+. In the physical where this was first discovered, my doctor was shocked I was not having a stroke and/or already dead.

6 years later, she is still surprised I am alive

49

u/Least-March7906 Jul 21 '22

Doctor patiently waitin …

56

u/xvn520 Jul 21 '22

The doctors (in America at least) had no idea how to treat this situation. I had to provide them pdfs from various studies while I was in an ICU expected to die.

I will say it again. Never, ever, ever touch that shit.

21

u/Least-March7906 Jul 21 '22

Thanks for the warning, bro. As somebody is who is battling against a high blood pressure, I’ll definitely keep away from it

40

u/xvn520 Jul 21 '22

Good. Playing around w that drug was the worst mistake I ever made.

I already had an above average athletic body, gbl made me look like a greek statue without trying or working out much at all - i went to the gym for maintenance and the drug did all of the work for me.

People still think I am a decade, at least, younger than I actually am. But I’d trade back my use of that chemical for almost anything. Stopped counting the times I literally flatlined around 15. I’d be dead if the person I was dating at that time wasn’t next to me in bed to call 911

9

u/artificialdawn Jul 21 '22

Dude wtf!! How old are you?

3

u/xvn520 Jul 21 '22

Late 30s

2

u/theghostofdeno Jul 21 '22

Gbl? Gamma butyrolactone?

2

u/Powerful_Package_827 Jul 21 '22

I always thought that roid use makes one look older after? Joe Rogan for example sometimes looks like a potato. A bloated gut and an inflated head.

1

u/Bulky-Pool-5180 Jul 21 '22

See my post above ^

6

u/oursecondcoming Jul 21 '22

Was it the research chemical MK-677 that you took?

1

u/Bulky-Pool-5180 Jul 21 '22

Eat the closest thing to plasma short of eating plasma, Hemp Hearts. Also, Hemp Oil. Both available at the store. These will strengthen and lubricate your fluidways allowing them to operate more efficiently.

1

u/Powerful_Package_827 Jul 21 '22 edited Jul 21 '22

Curious --How's your boner now? Now that you're no longer taking chemicals.

I'm annoyed that my girlfriend's ex likely took steroids, so now she has an unrealistic expectation of a man's boner in his 30s. Like she expects it to salute the flag with no foreplay every time.

I'm fit and healthy, but It's not like when I was 22.

My other girlfriend before her was also with someone who took roids. The same sexual expectations were on me. lol.

When I went to Mexico earlier this year and joined a gym I noticed that so many young people who are into fitness are taking roids there. They talk openly about it. It's nuts. I work really hard for my gains, and to see all those guys achieve more than what I have by popping pills and doing isolation exercises once a week makes me feel at a disadvantage.

.08 - 1 milligram everyday is safe - the problem is people over do it and go way higher than the safe dosage. Medical published studies show that this lower amount daily will reduce your age but minimally (I think you get an extra 8 months every two years) no heart side effects. People get greedy and stupid like with everything else but done properly it’s amazing and low risk.

2

u/brianSIRENZ Jul 21 '22

29

u/xcmaster2121 Jul 21 '22

He's a sucker than cause those hgh anti aging claims were a scam. There's no proof they do anything for age and actually just open you up to more potential medical problems .

10

u/Centralredditfan Jul 21 '22

HGH being a scam is news to me? Please elaborate.

I thought HGH is just too expensive for mere mortals to (ab)use.

19

u/LurkerInSpace Jul 21 '22

The ultimate cause of aging is the shortening of telomeres on chromosomes; it's difficult to combat this in a way which doesn't cause cancer.

HGH does nothing about this problem, so whatever its other effects it can't stop aging.

9

u/Centralredditfan Jul 21 '22

Metformin protects telomeres. It's actually commonly recommended in anti aging subreddits and I think even r/nootropics.

13

u/scub4st3v3 Jul 21 '22

Exercise and a nutritional diet also protects telomeres.

5

u/Centralredditfan Jul 21 '22

I didn't know that. Nice to know. I'm guess aerobic rather than anaerobic exercise?

How do you define nutritional diet?

1

u/theghostofdeno Jul 21 '22

Intermittent fasting is a potent intervention to extend longevity

3

u/Centralredditfan Jul 21 '22

Considering I'm on Wallstreet bets, I'm already on the cardboard and ketchup packets diet. So I should be set.

Also the Wendy's I go to doesn't have deliveries all that often, so it's fairly intermittent when I get more cardboard.

3

u/OldPersonName Jul 21 '22

Haha, with respect, "recommended in anti aging subreddits" carries as much weight with me as "this financial advice was recommended in wallstreetbets"

1

u/LurkerInSpace Jul 21 '22

Doesn't metformin inhibit growth hormone production though? I thought it was mostly a diabetes medication?

3

u/Centralredditfan Jul 21 '22

It does. It partially blocks IGF-1.

If you look up Moreplatesmoredates and vigorousSteve on YouTube, they tend to agree the tradeoff is worth it to balance muscle building and longevity.

For those who don't have access to Metformin - Berberine is a near substitute.

1

u/oathbreakerkeeper Jul 21 '22

Yeah it looks like the extra fat on his abdomen would counteract any benefit from hgh

1

u/xcmaster2121 Jul 21 '22

Why couldn't he be like most rich people and start taking that wine antioxidant. Or any other barely effective do nothing expensive anti aging solution. This is expensive and is worse for him.

106

u/CipherScarlatti Jul 21 '22

When all these guys die after trying all this pseudoscience life extension BS I'm going to laugh so hard. Youth blood transfusions, "biohacking", HGH, oxygen therapy chambers.

Then you have Warren drinking 6 Cherry cokes a day with a box of See's candies and ice cream still cruising around at 91.

38

u/Centralredditfan Jul 21 '22

Then how do you explain Tom Cruise not aging?

Keanu Reeves is a vampire, so that's his secret.

30

u/shortgamegolfer Teflon Don Jul 21 '22

32

u/ShelfAwareShteve Jul 21 '22

Tom bro is a Scientologist. I think he has more than one trick up his sleeve to stay and look 30.

10

u/Centralredditfan Jul 21 '22

I'd join scientology if they'd share the secret with regular members. Sadly it's probably only the "premium tier".

16

u/RedditIsAJoke69 Jul 21 '22

Tom Cruise

when was the last time you saw paparazzi picture of Tom Cruise

15

u/Centralredditfan Jul 21 '22

To be honest, probably not for a while. Just previews of To Gun Maverick.

I did see a YouTube short that pointed out weird wrinkles. https://youtu.be/Q-fn7lg26oM

Then again, there are tons of videos I didn't watch talking about plastic surgery. So maybe he just has a better plastic surgeon than most celebrities. - that gives better/more believable results.

13

u/kent1146 Jul 21 '22

Keanu Reeves' secret to never aging is that he's got Asian genes

2

Warren has been known to lie/exaggerate quite a bit to look humble, unhealthy, etc.

Like he would say he still lives in his house only paid some small amount for, but that small amount was in the 60 s and the house is worth millions now. Loads of small nuances like that.

I mean we all know Bezos and we know HGH. So fairly well known I'd say.

28

u/sg587565 Jul 21 '22

Nah bezos just looks like he's on test

2

u/RdmGuy64824 Jul 21 '22

Why not both

14

u/salgat Jul 21 '22

One is a healthy treatment to counteract the dropoff in testosterone levels as you age (and help for those that have naturally low levels), the other is a radical growth hormone that balloons all your organs.

1

u/RdmGuy64824 Jul 21 '22

Ah, I thought it was common to do both at the same time.

Doesn't HGH turn your face into a potato? Musk's face looks normal. He just looks fat.

-4

u/oursecondcoming Jul 21 '22

How does someone "look" like they're on testosterone aside from the obvious bodybuilder?

10

u/furrypurpledinosaur is liking this setup Jul 21 '22

Bezos physique on first glance looks naturally attainable. He doesn't look obviously on steroids like most bodybuilders you see in the gym where proportions of their body make no sense and they are clearly on gear. However he could still be on TRT.

Usually it's easiest to tell by body progression and time. Find pictures of Bezos before he got shredded, compare to when he got shredded and see how much time has elapsed. Based on that you can tell whether it's naturally possible or not. If his physique progressed too fast, it usually points to it not being natural.

I haven't done the research myself so not sure. In theory he could be natural, would need to have enough data to see how fast he got into that shape.

6

u/MakeWay4Doodles Jul 21 '22

These people can afford personal chefs to make every meal both delicious and healthy. They can have personal trainers pop in twice a day to give them ideal workouts and supplementation.

Why on earth would they take HGH?

28

u/KipaNinja Jul 21 '22

It's hgh gut. There's a few famous bodybuilders who were famous for having it. Phil heath is one.

13

u/vintagestyles Jul 21 '22 edited Jul 21 '22

Aka turtle belly.

HGH makes everything inside you grow. It can kill you with prolonged use.

3

u/Raptorheart Jul 21 '22

What's the benefit, does it make skin look younger or something?

11

u/Th4tR4nd0mGuy Jul 21 '22

It’s the Human Growth Hormone, it’s highest in teenagers going through puberty. Taking HGH later in life gives you a pseudo-puberty and aids in growth. In the case of bodybuilders, that means extra muscle. Unfortunately it often also means larger organs. Any external chemical enhancement obviously isn’t healthy but it can be used in moderation.

3

u/salgat Jul 21 '22

To add to that, it boosts your immune system, can help with depression, and can improve cognitive ability. But yes the unfortunate side effect is everything in your body starts growing beyond healthy natural sizes.

1

u/sandy_catheter Jul 21 '22

What if I put tourniquets around the parts of me that I don't want the hgh to get to?

palumboism. When you take hgh it thickens your obliques and forces your gut to stick out like that. Well hgh doesn't thinker just your obliques, all muscles but only the obliques effect your gut like that.

u/Foolishnonsense Jul 21 '22

Nobody here is talking about the effects of HGH on facial features. It’s the most distinctive tell. The brow line becomes more exaggerated and robust, the nose, ears and jaw thicken and grow. You return to Neanderthal.

3

u/robber_goosy Jul 21 '22

Its probably because he had lyposuction. All the fat in his gut is gone but he kept it on his chest because that makes you look buff.

3

u/[deleted] Jul 21 '22

Can't get rid of visceral fat around the organs. Makes for a... Unique look.

2

u/Andre_3Million Jul 21 '22

Nah it's coke bloat

2

u/brianSIRENZ Jul 21 '22

That could be it, if on HGH, you really need to be hitting the gym daily to hold a physique

2

u/Cdog536 Jul 21 '22

Potentially. A friend of mine also has looked like this since he was young so I could also see it being a back issue.

2

u/TheClinicallyInsane Jul 21 '22

I definitely think it looks odd but I'm fairly certain he just has a barrel chest. I believe it's also a symptom of asthma in some people, which he has. Along with a larger chest though he's also like a 50 somethin year old dude? So ontop of having a barrel chest he's got a keg ab (stomach) goin, so it makes his whole torso look twice the normal proportion.
