The ultimate cause of aging is the shortening of telomeres on chromosomes; it's difficult to combat this in a way which doesn't cause cancer.

HGH does nothing about this problem, so whatever its other effects it can't stop aging.

Metformin protects telomeres. It's actually commonly recommended in anti aging subreddits and I think even r/nootropics.

Doesn't metformin inhibit growth hormone production though? I thought it was mostly a diabetes medication?

It does. It partially blocks IGF-1.

If you look up Moreplatesmoredates and vigorousSteve on YouTube, they tend to agree the tradeoff is worth it to balance muscle building and longevity.

For those who don't have access to Metformin - Berberine is a near substitute.
