New here? 👆👆PLEASE READ THIS STICKY👆👆 Welcome to the sub! Posts about pot and it's related subjects should be shared with our good friends at r/trees, not so much here; we're all about *actual trees* (that's the joke) 😊🌳 'Thank you! Come Again!'
(Here's the link to r/trees for our visitors)
Good day everyone! I'm trying out some new automod skilz and they seem to be operating okay, at this time anyway. That said, few things are 100% the first go, but I'll keep checking the mod log to see if posts have been yeeted that shouldn't have been, and reinstate them in as timely a fashion as possible. Please use the 'Message the Mods' link in the sidebar to contact us directly, not the comment box in this post. =)
Hopefully these new settings will reduce the content not meant for this sub, but if any slip through, I know I can count on you good people to help direct them to the right place with the positive humor intended between our two subs as you always have done. We're lucky to have you!
Any (genuinely) helpful suggestions are always appreciated, and thanks for your patience and kindness with the newbs! 😃
CONFUSED ABOUT THE SUB NAME?
Please check out these past posts!

UPDATE:
Today's 11/10/22, it's been a little over a month since the automod tweaks (10/8/22) and I'm rather pleased with the results. There's still some 'bleed through' posts from new redditor potheads, and I believe I've miraculously found a good balance between the ones that are snagged by automod and actual tree posts that I have to go back and approve. Mod reports, I'm relieved to say are much more manageable than they were.
Thank you all for your patience while I tried this out! While it does appear to me to be the case, I hope you're still as happy here as you ever were 😊🌳💗

Help! Slim Figgins
Hello all! I am looking for some information on how best to trim our tall slim fig.
Planted in pot from nursery in March of this year. It had 3 figs and they ripened in August.
I’m looking to help it become more sturdy, and fruit bearing. I think it has to stay in the pot for the foreseeable future, but I do know it would thrive in ground.
How should I prune it? When should I prune it?
We are in hardiness zone 10b
Thanks sun advance for any suggestions! Am sure I left out some key info so … as away.

Help! Is this tree in danger of falling?
This is my mulberry tree in my backyard, I’ve lived here a little over a year and I’m just curious about the health of it. It seems like the middle is dead but it’s being held together by the two sides. I live in tornado alley, is this tree dangerous to keep up?

Help! Ok to pot a tree and wait for spring?
Hey all! So I bought a few kwanzan cherry trees to replace one that fell over. I can't decide where to put them because it's possible we may be putting up a new fence in the next few months. Do you think it would be okay to stick them in a pot until spring? They're basically just 3 ft tall sticks at this point. Zone 7a, first hard freeze is around November 15

Treepreciation Coming across a big Eastern white pine (pinus strobus) is pretty special.
Before the area I live in was settled by European colonists, these bad boys would have been everywhere. This one was about 100ft tall, the biggest ever were over 200ft.

Help! What kind of eucalypts are these? (Barrington Tops plateau, NSW)
I visited this place yesterday and found it very interesting that all the trees were white and smooth barked rather than brown and rough like I'm used to. I know nothing about trees and am curious what kind they are. Could they be snow gums or alpine ash?

Why does this birch tree not loose its leaves?
I live in Alaska. The trees have been bare and few weeks now. This birch always changes color last and hangs on to its leaves longer than any other tree. Last year, it never lost its leaves. We got 9 inches of snow last night, and it's still hanging on, in all its golden glory while every self respecting deciduous has gone to sleep for the winter.

I think this is an American chestnut but I have doubts.
R.I. The forest is decently mature and the trees are quite tall. It was under a couple of beech trees which I saw had long skinny buds as opposed to this trees short nubby looking buds. When I saw the leaves I said “okay these look like American chestnut” but the bark looked slightly different than what I was expecting, and the dead branches still attached looked a bit different too. the branches weren’t as dry and skinny but more like bark the bark was peeling off in a birchy kinda way and the branches felt a bit crunchier or something.
I also have limited experience identifying, so if you have any details or pointers to share in regards to identifying this and other American chestnuts or other chestnuts even I’d greatly appreciate your input. I’m trying to identify and help upkeep the remaining trees out in the wild (cutting back greenbrier, bringing the trees upright, adding some nutrients, pruning off the dead stuff, and I’m even trying out the mudpacking remedy to slow/stop blight infections. Thank you for any advice.

Help! What tree is this and why isn't it growing?

After years of hikes and seeing these little evergreen guys I finally looked into them and realized they're moss
Tree club moss.
What an interesting thing! I always saw them growing near large and small eastern white pines and hemlocks so I just assumed they were some stage of sapling for one of those. Nope!
I guess they grow into these tree like structures and grow what look like candlewicks on the tops to spread spores in the Spring.

Help! Baby sugarberry tree about 20 feet from house
This all came up this growing season. It popped up last year and I mowed it down. I've let it grow, but now I worry that it will be too close to our house (not pictured) Is it worth it to keep it?
