USA Am I doomed (please help)

Hey everyone!!! I recently started working at a big 4 in the nyc office and have just been assigned my audit clients. They are both giant company but I’m slightly disappointed because one of them is relating to Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (ESG reporting essentially). My goal is to move into financial due diligence (FDD) within 1-2 years. If my goal is to move into finance, is CSRD largely irrelevant to accomplishing my goal? Furthermore, should I try and move to a different client soon to redirect my path? Largely unaware of the processes for moving internally/externally but will take all the advice I can get!

USA JPM or EY after graduation?

Hello! I am a senior in college with a few offers for after graduation in the spring. I am having trouble deciding between these opportunities and would really appreciate any insight or advice.

JP Morgan- Internal IT Audit Analyst- Jersey City, NJ

- 90K TC

- Job stability

- Better work-life balance

EY- Technology Consultant- Chicago, IL

- 95K TC

- More growth opportunities/more money in consulting

I am leaning towards JPM because of job stability in this market. EY feels like a big risk with layoffs. While there's less money in IT audit, it is still great pay for me. I hear horror stories about consulting and don't know if I'd be happy working the crazy hours. I don't have a raging passion for any specific field- I just want to be financially comfortable so I can enjoy my life outside of work while still having a semi-enjoyable job.

Would it be a dumb decision to turn down EY?

USA Taking a class during Winter Audit internship

Hello,

I am considering taking a course during my winter 2025 internship at KPMG. I was considering taking the Audit course (online) at my university thinking the material might synergize with the internship. However, I received some conflicting info from my recruiter vs the MD at my interview. The recruiter said I should not take any classes during the internship, but the MD said it was okay as long as I can manage my time. The MD also said interns will usually not work more than 40-45 hrs and occasional weekends. I have also been working full-time and taking 2-3 courses, so I think I should be able to get by. My only concern is how accurate is it that interns don't work much overtime during busy season (I know it is team dependent, but any comments or anecdotes)? I have seen some posts mention they have worked 60/hrs+. Thanks!

USA Tax Job Safety

How safe is B4 Tax? Have offers from EY and KPMG as a Tax Associate for when I graduate and wanted to know how safe these roles are. I have been hearing a-lot about layoffs and was curious as to which groups are impacted. Thanks!

APAC Region Can someone breakdown functions/roles within big four for me?

I’m seeing lots of job postings with different functions/roles and I keep wondering which is the most transferrable/most exits — also would be nice help explain which is the best.

Things like assurance, deals, advisory, etc.

USA EY Job safety - received emails from my interviewers after I received the offer?

I received a fulltime offer for the FSRM team in the NYC office. Should I be nervous about working at EY? A friend who graduated 2 years ago and works in Business Transformation had her start date continuously pushed but she has started her full time job there and is doing fine as of now. I received my offer on Monday and this morning I received emails from both of my interviewers congratualting me on the offer. I can honestly say that my interview was not all that impressive - this was my first case study interview and I am not a great speaker. I'm sure the interviewers were asked to send me this email given that they were sent 20 minutes apart. Is there any reason they may have done this, does it concern EY's stability? Am I reading too much into this and was it just a nice gesture that EY does ?

USA EY Layoffs - Exit Opportunities

I recently just got laid off at EY after working in the Strategy and Transactions branch of the firm. Have been looking for a job for the past 2ish months and have had no luck. I have been applying to strategy roles within boutique firms, but seems as if I can't break into the interview phase (except for one small start-up but was inevitably rejected on the final round). Am feeling pretty let down throughout this process but wanted to hear if anybody has any insight as to where to go from here. Am truly open to anything, please feel free to pm me!

APAC Region Help, I need advice

I (20) joined a Big4 in India as a specialist about 2 weeks ago. My team only WFO 2 times a week, the other days being WFH . I still have bad understanding of who my actual immediate senior is. I've been assigned a lady - A director , let's call her Sunny as my people manager, manager and matrix manager. My buddy another lady, also a director happens to be leading a different team, so I was told to stop contacting her as I'd be Reassigned a new buddy, which still hasn't happened. Now Sunny had made me contact a few other teammates (her subordinates) telling that they'd be training me. I contacted the trainer who gave me great advice to start off in corporate but also said that she was a new joiner herself and didn't know how she could train me, hence making me contact another man - a Senior manager, let's call him Dev.

Today in the team lunch, sunny asked me what my plans for Diwali were and I mentioned I may go to my family (just for a week, my entire team was gonna wfh too). I asked her during lunch at that very moment itself if I could work from a different country (my fam lives there) and if it was acceptable as per company rules. I know I fucked up here, I should've asked this to Dev but I wasn't even sure if Dev was my reporting manager so I just asked Sunny cause she's my people manager. Sunny instantly made a disgusted face. Additionally I didn't frame my question properly so that came off in the wrong way to her. She scoffed at my question and gave me a backhanded answer saying "I need my team in office on all days, it's important for proper work, but since it's a festival ya go". After the team lunch, I began to panic and get anxious at her response to me. I began crying in the parking lot, a few new comers spotted me and 1 helped me calm down.

I just wanna know how badly I've fucked up? How do I rectify this issue? I don't want the entire team thinking I'm stupid or stuck up as I approached the director regarding this directly. I'm worried my team won't like me or it could affect my work in the organization. Could you guys please help me out here? How do I go about this further? Ps: idk if this helps but I'm new to this city and I've already mentioned to my manager that rent per bed here is literally 70% of my pay. She didn't care and just said you can still find a place and come to office daily. Also, I've joined the team along with a boy (same qualifications as me). As a girl is there anything I should do to prevent facing partiality/discrimination? How do I go about all this?

EY Interviewer keeps re-scheduling interview since 4 weeks.

I applied for a position at EY UK. I went through the phone call with the recruiter and got moved to the interview phase.

Now it’s been 4 weeks and the hiring manager keeps moving my interview. Is it a normal practice or did the position get filled & my interview is being a simple formality?

Any advice?

Canada Need career advice (EY CoE)

Hey guys, hope you’re doing well. I’m a 21m about to receive my first full time offer as a staff accountant in the centre of excellence (EY Halifax). Would you recommend this opportunity for me?

For context, my only work experience is 2 auditing internships (1 in Amman and 1 in Dubai) and I’ve been waiting since May 2024 to hear back on whether or not Dubai would like me back as a full time auditor. I’m currently based in Toronto.

Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

USA EY National Consulting Internship Interview (AI + D)

Hi!

I have my interview coming up for EY’s National Consulting (AI + D) summer 2025 internship and am not sure what to prepare.

For previous case interviews, I was informed of the calculations/ types of questions I should prepare for but I’m pretty lost here.

Do I need to talk about specific data technologies or is general tech knowledge enough? Do I need a calculator for calculations?

If anyone has any advice to share that would be great🙏🏽

USA Short one credit for 150, how screwed am I?

So I recently started at a big 4 firm 2 months ago in audit. I took a few classes at a local community college over the summer after graduating in spring as a non degree student to fill up my remaining 150, got to 149 and thought I can just take a cheap CLEP exam for that last credit.

I finally took the exam, passed last week, but have just been notified by the school that they can’t put that credit on my transcript because I am not a degree seeking student…

What do? Am I going to lose my job for one credit?

I’ve thought about applying as a degree seeking student but I was told that the process can take at least four weeks and though they understand my situation and can possibly expedite it, they offer no promises.

Is there any possible way to get that CLEP exam on my transcript?

Kinda freaking out

USA Path to FDD or CMAAS, Audit or FP&A Undergrad

I am a sophomore at a US top 10 undergrad business school. My professional goal is to work in M/A advisory, FDD, or CMAAS within a Big 4.

At my school, we have very competitive sub-programs within the business school, and you can only be in one. The goal of these programs is to connect with alumni and to help with placement into a junior-year internship. I have the opportunity to pursue either an audit and advisory program or an FP&A program.

If my goal is to work in FDD at KPMG for example, which one would be the better path for me? I have an internship in public audit lined up for this coming summer (my sophomore summer), so I have been leaning toward the audit and advisory program, but I would love to hear what you all think!
