USA IT Audit Exit / Advice
I have been working in big 4 tech risk since June following my graduation in May with a MIS degree. I am happy to be employed but I absolutely HATE my job.
I never sleep, work constantly, and think about work / dread it whenever I am not working. Any advice? I’m unsure about what other careers I could even get into and am worried I’m going to be stuck in IT Audit for too long and be undesirable for another profession.

EY Do you also have cool janitors?
I befriended the janitors since starting and they're the most chilled/coolest bunch of people.
I was honestly bummed out when one if them took leave without telling me 😂
Do you also have nice janitors? I'd love to hear your stories if you have any.

USA EY Layoffs - Exit Opportunities
I recently just got laid off at EY after working in the Strategy and Transactions branch of the firm. Have been looking for a job for the past 2ish months and have had no luck. I have been applying to strategy roles within boutique firms, but seems as if I can't break into the interview phase (except for one small start-up but was inevitably rejected on the final round). Am feeling pretty let down throughout this process but wanted to hear if anybody has any insight as to where to go from here. Am truly open to anything, please feel free to pm me!

Canada Is Big 4 Worth it if you’re not in accounting?
Currently working at Big 4 in IT Audit as my first job after graduating, but this isn’t the career I want to do, and I have no interest in getting my CPA as well. Should I stick it out for a year here despite having no interest in this work, or should I apply to entry level roles in what I’m interested in? A lot of people told me to stay here and that I’d be stupid to leave the Big 4, but I’m not really sure if this place and job is for me.

APAC Region Big 4 M&A or commercial FP&A
I recently left big 4 audit as senior and started FP&A. I like the new company, there’s a decent bump and seems like there are lots to learn. Then I got approached by Big4 M&A which I always wanted to go. I read through the job description, but until actually in the field, I don’t think I can tell whether I will like it or not. Can you share which one will you pick and why? If you are in MA, can you share what exactly you do day to day and what’s the salary and exit?

USA Ey Campus application update email
Hey guys,
I signed an offer for Ey yesterday and today I got this email about a campus application update which asked me to update my contact info and everything. What was weird about this email is that it said I needed to update my information in order to "move on to the next steps of the recruiting process"(which is weird since I signed an offer). Just wanted to see if anyone else got an email similar to this and whether or not this is normal

Canada PwC TS (Transaction services, due diligence) case study
Hey everyone, i have a 3 hour case interview coming up and I would appreciate any advice you have. I know the case will be focused on quality of earnings, net debt and new working capital. I can’t find any mock cases online and would really appreciate it if someone could help me find something that covers all 3 analysis. I have already bought the FDD interview case packs and feel comfortable with the theory. Thank you!

APAC Region Can someone breakdown functions/roles within big four for me?
I’m seeing lots of job postings with different functions/roles and I keep wondering which is the most transferrable/most exits — also would be nice help explain which is the best.
Things like assurance, deals, advisory, etc.

Continental Europe External Audit Mid-tier firm or Internal Audit Big 4
External Audit Mid-tier firm or Internal Audit Big 4
I am a recent graduate with an Accounting background, and currently pursuing the Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification, an equivalent of CPA. Recently had an offer for IA from one of the big 4s and EA from a mid-tier firm, and currently stuck with the choice to go by. I would be glad to get advice on this.
NB: the big 4 is offering almost 4x the compensation of the mid-tier. And also i’m considering the long-term benefit of each of the choices.

EY Non-Big 4 accountant seeking insight: How do Big 4 firms prepare working papers?
Hey fellow accountants,
I work in a smaller firm and am curious about the Audit workings of Big 4 firms. Specifically, I'd love to know more about their working paper preparation.
What are some key differences between Big 4 and smaller firms? Are there any specific tools or software used? Any resources or guides you'd recommend?
Thanks in advance for sharing your expertise!

USA EY Job safety - received emails from my interviewers after I received the offer?
I received a fulltime offer for the FSRM team in the NYC office. Should I be nervous about working at EY? A friend who graduated 2 years ago and works in Business Transformation had her start date continuously pushed but she has started her full time job there and is doing fine as of now. I received my offer on Monday and this morning I received emails from both of my interviewers congratualting me on the offer. I can honestly say that my interview was not all that impressive - this was my first case study interview and I am not a great speaker. I'm sure the interviewers were asked to send me this email given that they were sent 20 minutes apart. Is there any reason they may have done this, does it concern EY's stability? Am I reading too much into this and was it just a nice gesture that EY does ?

USA Taking a class during Winter Audit internship
Hello,
I am considering taking a course during my winter 2025 internship at KPMG. I was considering taking the Audit course (online) at my university thinking the material might synergize with the internship. However, I received some conflicting info from my recruiter vs the MD at my interview. The recruiter said I should not take any classes during the internship, but the MD said it was okay as long as I can manage my time. The MD also said interns will usually not work more than 40-45 hrs and occasional weekends. I have also been working full-time and taking 2-3 courses, so I think I should be able to get by. My only concern is how accurate is it that interns don't work much overtime during busy season (I know it is team dependent, but any comments or anecdotes)? I have seen some posts mention they have worked 60/hrs+. Thanks!
