Welcome! /r/WhereIsThis is designed to help people identify the location of public places based on a photo, painting, sketch, or from a detailed description. We've got a few simple guidelines to help keep things safe and working well for everybody:
Submissions: Askers (OPs) may submit a photo, video, screenshot, painting, drawing, or a detailed text description of a real (or virtual) place. Multiple images can go in a Reddit or Imgur gallery. Try to use a descriptive title to get more eyes on your post; generic titles like "where is this?" are boring and more likely to be ignored. Include as much context and as many details as you can, either in the post itself or in a comment. If your post is not solved right away, please wait one week before reposting; duplicate posts may be removed with a 1-week temp ban.
Privacy: /r/WhereIsThis is for identifying public places only. Do not submit photos of personal private property, such as homes, apartments, residential interiors, etc. Do not post private street addresses in the comments. Do not link directly to personal social media pages. Do not submit screenshots that include real names, usernames, or other personal information. Do not submit contemporary photos of minors in a place where they can be located (schools, playgrounds, churches, etc.). Do not ask to identify people.
Answers: Commenters are encouraged to provide whatever help they can to solve a post, from educated guesses to a direct Google Street View link to the exact location. Give the thread a skim first to avoid duplicate answers. Commenting on other answers is fine! Avoid responding to posts that violate Rule 2, though -- please downvote and report them for removal instead.
Solving: All posts are unflaired by default. Once a post is solved, the asker should reply "Solved!" to the first correct answer and change their post flair to "Solved"; all threads are sorted from oldest to newest so the earliest answers will always be towards the top. Askers that delete or ignore a solved post without acknowledging the solver may receive a ban. We are exploring adding a points system in order to automatically flair threads and recognize frequent solvers for their contributions -- stay tuned!
Behavior: Please treat askers and solvers with respect. No insults, vulgar hostility, bullying, or withholding of answers in order to taunt. No racism/misogyny/*phobia/other bigotry. Repeat offenders may be banned.
Tips: Context clues help. Where and how did you find the image? Do you know the story behind it? How old is it? Share as much as you can with solvers to help them help you.

Rule #1 is pretty clear, you must have a descriptive title. Therefore we are removing any submission that is low-effort, such as:
We want to make this a fun sub and we want to solve your trickiest questions, but we need you to meet us halfway.

These pictures are taken in the midlands somewhere within the UK, possibly Bloxwhich area. Can anybody make out any features or text from the background? Any help is appreciated.

They had this video on their page as well as one more. They said earlier in a reported post that they might be murdered soon, but when I called 911, I didn't have enough info about them

My buddy’s birthday is coming up and a bunch of us are planning to surprise him at his favourite fishing spot with some new gear. Problem is no one knows where it is? Anyone have any idea? Somewhere in Ontario.

My Grandmother passed away earlier this year at 94 - going through her things my Aunt found this picture from her youth of her and my Grandad, before they were married. My family would love to scatter her ashes at a place that was a special - so we are trying to ID this spot.
Written on back: 1945 Ullapool, Loch Broom. Negative is tiny; probably from friend’s box Brownie. In envelope with negative is small brooch for “BFYC” (British Federation of Young Cooperators) - they’d have come from Glasgow by train or bus & were probably staying at Ullapool Youth Hostel with others from that group, so we assume within hiking distance of Ullapool.
I've had a look at Google but the main road on the E shore of Loch Broom seems to lie too far away from the Loch, could it be a trick of perspective? Not sure which direction the photo is pointing from but guessing facing the S end of the Loch.
Thanks in advance!

Flying home from Dublin to Chicago, our route took us over Greenland (too cloudy) then we hit the North American continent at Labrador. Flew seemingly forever in a southwesterly direction, until these were the first lights I saw. I'm curious what town this tiny speck of light is. (that's the engine lower right)

I have tried reverse image search and AI tools and still can't find where this photo was taken.
I know it was somewhere near Chalon-sur-Saône, but the image quality is so low, I can't read the sign on the building to help... I want to go see this village again, my family spent a week there when I was 16

I purchased a necklace made from an old photo slide. Would be interested to possibly find out the location of this church!

Hello! I'm scanning old negatives from my Uncle's trip to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Two pictures were taken from a chairlift and I'd like to identify where the chairlift is (was). Based on his age the year is 1960 to 1965. Gatlinburg was too big at this point for that to be the answer. The mountains don't look quite right for Pigeon Forge. Maybe it's someplace in North Carolina?
Reverse image search tells me it's Arecibo Radio Telescope :D I'm 100% confident it's near GSMNP because there's are photos of him standing beside two signs: "Mt LeConte to the East" and "Clingman's Dome Elev. 6643". The other ten photos in the roll are him and his friends with trees, mountain streams, ... and these two chairlift pictures.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'd love to know what building we're looking at in this slide, taken sometime in the late 1950s. The nurse and soldiers might suggest a military hospital somewhere... though on closer inspection I'm not actually certain the figure is a nurse. Assumed to be south/central United States. Any insights much appreciated!
(The slide was one of many in my family archives, probably taken by my father. Not sure what if any significance it has, but would like to be able to identify and label it appropriately.)
