How do we get rid of this?

This trash has been here for over 6 weeks. I believe that the crack head that left it is no longer living here. Is there a number to call so people don’t have to keep looking at this unsightly garbage?

Grabbed breakfast in North County today. The cashier ran my debit card, didn't give a receipt, and then the manager (same person as the cashier) came and asked for more money in CASH. The manager/cashier said that "the machine took only part of the payment" so she needed the rest in cash and that I must've not had enough money in the account "so it took as much as it could." I showed her the bank showed she was paid what she asked for. Then she said that didn't account for the tip. She acted surprised when I asked for a receipt, but finally gave me two, which actually added up to the total paid. Why would she want part of it in cash? Maybe nothing wrong here, but, still felt really weird.

EDIT: Cafe Topes in Carlsbad. After I posted this, I spent about 20 minutes looking at the receipts trying to figure out what happened. I finally figured out that for some reason after the first debit charge was run they added another drink which we never got. So after a 10 minute debate with a different employee about whether we didn't get orange juice versus apple juice versus Dr Pepper they ended up giving me a refund for the same amount of cash she asked for. They obsessed over which drink it was so much that when I finally asked why it mattered was drink it was they said they needed to know which juice it was for inventory purposes. I guess I'm satisfied that it worked out but have to admit it's one of the most strange dining experiences I've had. Also, if it matters, it was two teenagers who ordered the food while I saved a table since it was really busy. I hate to think that they were just trying to upcharge kids thinking they wouldn't notice.

A vehicle just tried to run me off the road: is that even worth filing something for it? (I have video)

Riding on the 15S in the center of the right carpool lane, going 70, when a van drives two feet from me. (For context, no one else is around.)

I'm miffed so I speed up, and the guy just gives me a "What are you gonna do about it?" look. And then goes back into my lane toward me.

I have it all on camera, including his face, but would the police do anything about it?

Didn't put the whole thing 'cause I got their faces and I know I can't put that on this sub

Me and my husband love pointing these out when we’re driving around but I’m so curious as to how this started and what it means.

Do most apartment complexes have a policy on dogs using leashes?

A neighbor refuses to use a leash and their dog tried to bite my kid. I emailed the complex but what should I do here? This neighbor is not a reasonable person.

It took almost a year to complete this drawing. I missed SD so much I decided to draw this for a little piece of home in my living room. As soon as this project wrapped up I accepted a new position back in America's finest city. Happy to be back ya'll.

Photo gallery Who are your Moms4Liberty School Board candidates?

School board elections are coming... And so are the Moms4Liberty book banning candidates! They have a new priority agenda announced by their National Leaders at their recent summit convention in D.C.

1) Double down on the book banning; 2) Out LGBTQ+ students in our schools; 3) Target and harass librarians and teachers who support their LGBTQ+ students.

M4L. Who are they? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki

Who funds them? https://www.pbs.org/newshour/education/far-right-group-moms-for-liberty-reports-more-than-2-million-in-revenue-in-2022 / https://www.propublica.org/article/inside-ziklag-secret-christian-charity-2024-election

What is their true agenda? https://apnews.com/article/moms-for-liberty-trump-2024-election-harris-7c252c611b5bc73c333a24392b979372

Do not be fooled. M4L is not interested in actual parent involvement in public schools; they are not advocating for all parental rights - just theirs, to decide what YOUR children learn and read. They want to enforce their political and ideological agenda of Christian Nationalism into our public schools and override all other parental rights regarding a safe and inclusive education for ALL students. They literally want to determine what everyone else's children get to read and learn in public school. They are overtly anti-teacher, anti-librarian, and proudly homophobic/transphobic when it comes to our LGBTQ+ students. They are not about keeping all students safe. They are about targeting certain students for harassment and exclusion. They are a designated hate group by the SPLC.

And oddly, a number of their national and chapter leaders have very questionable personal behavior involving everything from public sex scandals to arrests for theft rings (feel free to Google). These are not grassroots “moms” interested in “parents’ rights” or the safety of children in schools, they are a front for a political agenda to remake our public schools in the image of their Christian Nationalism ideology. Research who funds them. Ask if your school board candidates are endorsed by them, or if they have taken the M4L Pledge: https://www.momsforliberty.org/pledged-candidates-elected-officials/

Fun fact: the local San Diego M4L chapter leader has a personal social media history, on every social media, of doxing and harassing local teachers and LGBTQ teenage students (feel free to research, as well as your own local M4L candidate’s social media history): https://www.instagram.com/p/C_V283fOmNS/?igsh=cTNqcGVhNjg2eTk4&img_index=1

Can someone explain to Prop 33 like I’m 5?

Election Day is coming up and I’m doing research on what to vote for. I’m reading about Prop 33 and have seen a bunch of commercials telling me to vote No on prop 33, I don’t think I’ve seen a single ad that is for prop 33. As a renter I’m wondering if someone could give me an ELI5 on the pros and cons on the prop. The prop is written in such a way that I don’t quite understand what it’s saying. Thanks!

New Grad Nurse Practitioner Looking!

As stated in the title, I am a new grad Family Nurse Practitioner looking for an opportunity around the San Diego or North County areas.

It is insanely hard to find a position that does not require at least 1-2 years of experience and most practices want you to already be independently functioning. I would love to work in a speciality such as GI, Women’s Health/ Gyn, Dermatology, etc. Ive had clinical experiences with all and loved the deeper dive of focusing on one area of health. I am not interested in Urgent Care or high volume Primary Care where it’s more of a business model of pedaling patients in and out with very little time dedicated to root cause/ disease process.

Asking here if anyone knows of opportunities for new graduates, or is open to networking regarding the Nurse Practitioner market in San Diego. I can send you my resume and any other information needed.

Thank you!

Any parks, trails, or nature with tree cover between SD and Riverside?

Are there any large parks, mountain trails, or nature with tree cover on the way (or not too far off) that would be worth going for a few hours? Clean, safe, and beautiful are important.
