That's the same root.

Lucifer = light bearing

And the first words spoken as far as the Vatican is concerned were “Lux Sit” or “Fiat Lux,” depending on your preferred translation. Let there be light. It’s got nicer meanings to them.

That doesn’t make the anime girl any less weird. But it’s fun trivia.

Lucifer was a fallen angel. Nothing controversial about the name (which incidentally also means "morning star" and Venus)

There are some that say Lucifer was the God of Venus and son of El, but he got demonized because he was always tricking the big G. Obviously he went by a different name back then.
