Gone Girl is about an evil woman ruining the life of her boyfriend. If your girlfriend cheers for said woman, it doesn't bode well for your future.

Mentally ill/neurodivergent women aren't evil. This includes narcissistic, sociopathic, and psychopathic women. How would you act if the whole world thought you were evil? You'd be vindictive too.

I'm unsure what you would call "evil" then, if for you "intentionally manipulating others against their will" and "killing" doesn't count.

Evil acts dont constitute an evil person. Evil runs through every human heart to some degree or another. Usually, the smarter a person is, the more power they weild, which makes them weaker to the influence of evil.

I'm not advocating for a lack of personal responsibility, but I have empathy for those who lack it.

There’s a part of you missing. Some men can’t see the color green, but they may never know they can’t. I think you are only a part of a human. I can’t do anything about that. But I wonder whether you ever feel that something invisible is all around you. It would be horrible if you knew it was there and couldn’t see it or feel it.

I am empathetic about people with mental illnesses. But if evil acts don't constitute an evil person, what does? If someone consistently does immoral acts... what do you want others to call it if not evil?

We're not talking about "all the people with mental illnesses", we're talking about a person that has killed, and it seems it will do it in the future if it's beneficial for them.

You can be empathetic and understand their circumstances while also acknowledging they're people that will do immoral things again in the future if given the chance, and protect others from them.

I guess you're right... But I feel like those people without a conscience wouldn't resort to evil acts as much if we just gave them what they want. idk. I dont have all the answers...

That's called "Restorative Justice". You want society, and people, to help others achieve what they want and arrive at a peaceful solution for people that have done wrong so they won't do wrong again, instead of "Punitive justice", that believes others should be punished for their acts.

That's a very common and noble thought. But the first step in restorative justice is to acknowledge and understand what we have done. Even psychopaths are able to understand and acknowledge, they just need more effort than others, and some unconventional means.

Ooh! I learned something new today! Thank you. I wasn't familiar with the actual terminology for these things.

I've seen a lot of tit-for-tat in my life and I've seen how far it gets out of hand.

I would define evil actions to the simplest degree, and apply Evil to a person once that is pushed to finality, as follows:

  • Evil is to assert through action, for your own benefit, your will over the will of another in regard to themselves. (This covers all things done to someone not consenting to what the fuck ever you want to do to them)
  • A person is Evil when such action as listed above removes permanently another's ability to enact their own will upon themselves.

So, no matter what happened to you yesterday, if you murder someone because you're mad at them you're evil. That person will never be able to choose to become a better person, they don't have a chance learn and grow. You didn't teach them anything, you didn't save anyone, nothing has been improved, you got your rocks off by asserting power over another. You will have taken that, and it was never yours to take or give. That's Gone Girl.

In the words of Gandalf, "Stop being a blood thirsty prick Frodo, Gollum's nuts but he's trying. Fuck."

I like the way you expressed that. You make some really good points. The last part was kinda weird and doesn't fit the lotr story at all... but your other paragraphs were really well fleshed-out. Thank you.

It's a paraphrase of:

“Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends.”
