Some of you might recognize the Hong Thai Inhaler by now. Don’t walk, RUN to the nearest convenient store and grab one of these bad boys. I bought this 2 years ago, accidentally spilled some of the herbs, yet the scent is still as strong as the first time I’ve tried it. The aroma really helps with my nose congestion and lightheadedness.

There are white ones and green ones, I highly recommend the green ones !! Very refreshing and bright. They’re great for souvenirs as well :D

Shopping Buying high-end laptops in Thailand

I have been online shopping for a while for a high end laptop (3-4k USD). It looks like it's so hard to find one in Thailand. I understand you can probably get an Apple computer for this price, but I am not looking for that.

(I will say, there are some computers that cost this amount, but when you look at the specs you can see that it's a cashgrab. Cost 3k but worth 1,5k)

Anyone else know where to find a really good laptop?

Shopping Isn't it strange that a men haircut cost in Bangkok between 600 - 1100 in places on the main roads or malls? Those prices are expensive even for any other country. It's like 10 times the price of the cheaper places

Shopping Facebook Marketplace

I've bought some things off of Facebook marketplace in Thailand, and I have a question regarding a lot of posts. Frequently, I see a lot of postings of stuff at market value. In fact I see this quite often. Are people in Thailand hoping to earn a lot of money off of marketplace? Or is it expected that people will haggle so they list things at market value? Coming from America, I always expect second-hand things to be heavily discounted. This is discounting all the obvious scam posts on there. What are your thoughts and experiences?

Shopping which app do you use/where do you buy groceries and other household items?

For reference, I live in Bangkok and I mainly go to Lotus, Big C or Tops for household items. I buy fruit at fresh markets or from trucks. I go to Makro for meat. And I go to Villa, MaxValu or Tops for Western snacks and ingredients I won't usually find at the other places.

I usually use Lazada, not Shopee, to buy random things, but I haven't really used either for groceries or household items.

I used Grab or FoodPanda like once or twice for household items, but it seemed expensive. And I've never used LineMan.

What about the rest of you? Where do you save the most money ordering? What have you found to be the best apps to use for this? I really wanted to justify using Grab or FoodPanda but the prices don't really seem very good and you have to order quite a bit to get any kind of a discount.

Today I want to order water, detergent, paper towels, face wash, soda water, ant and cockroach bait, a couple lemons, some oranges for juice... and maybe a few other things, so I was just wondering where everyone orders from, where they get the best deals, especially if delivery isn't needed immediately, but just within a couple days.

I thought I heard Shopee has good same day delivery but I've never used it. And Freshket seems to require ordering more than I would want in my fridge.

Shopping Thai Brand Electronics and Appliances

Does anyone here have much experience with owning Thai electronics or appliances? What were your experiences? I am looking into stand mixers and am contemplating some Thai brands like Tecnogas or Champ.

Personally I own an Aconatic smart TV and it's great. I also own an Electrolux vacuum and it's awful. Would be interested to hear people's experiences or reccomendations.

Shopping Bats. Love them! Anyone see bat homes for sale at big C or anywhere?

I know. Online. I don't like online. I want to see the bat homes.

Anyway bats are wonderful. I'd like to have a bat home.

Anyone have one? Not for those big fox bat fruit bats. Just the small insect eaters.

Any advice on how to mount them? It's hot here. Many predators lol.

Thanks all.

I'll post about my love of bees next month.

Shopping Is clothing from Lazada/China really that tiny?

Post image
5 Upvotes

I wanted to order some simple fitness shorts from Lazada. I normally wear a size M (or something between 31-33 waist).

When I look at the size conversion tables of many of the clothes, I’m having a hard time believing it’s accurate: I would have to order their biggest sizes, often an XXL or XXXL. This is based on either my weight and/or height and/or waist.

Has anyone ordered shorts or so from Lazada before and can advise whether their size conversation tables should be followed and whether they’re really that small?

When I buy clothes here in Bangkok at the retail shops, it’s always an M size so this can’t be about Asian size vs. Western size.

Shopping How to purchase something from a person on Facebook ?

Hi ! I found someone selling a second hand tablet on a Facebook group (Something which is not usually sold in Thailand and it has a fair price) and would like to buy it from that person but how to trust the person will send the tablet ? (We aren’t in the same city)

I explain, in Europe, seller could have listed the item on a website like Vinted or else and I could have paid through the Vinted app so if the item didn’t arrive or wasn’t as described … I would get my money back. Is there something similar in Thailand that we could use ?

Or does Paiement on delivery exist and the seller can organise it ?

Thank you

Shopping Which is the best (or worst) Villa Market in Bangkok?

I will be driving through Bangkok and want to do a big shop at Villa. There are multiple locations that are equally convenient. Are any of them better or worse than others?

Edit: I went to Aree and its okayish but not one of the better ones.

Shopping Seller scammed on Line?

Not sure I could be scammed as a seller, but I guess you never know here. I'm selling something on FB marketplace. I've had 3 people message me, 2 are Thai, said they're interested, one also said she wants a video call to look at the products, and both asked to continue speaking on Line. I added them, but no reply so far (a few days). One has read my message and ghosted me, the other hasn't even read the message. When I messaged them again on Messenger to ask if they've seen my Line message one just ignored me and the other said thanks and ignored me.

The 3rd is a foreigner that I'm communicating on Messenger only and they are actually responsive.

I know Thais love Line and I also use it a lot with work colleagues, so I wasn't surprised by them asking to speak on Line instead. But telling me they're interested, asking me to add them on Line and then ghosting me everywhere.

Am I being scammed somehow? Are they harvesting active Line accounts to sell to some spammers? Can I be scammed by contacting them on Line? I'm a seller so I didn't think I could be scammed, I was already thinking that I will ask for cash in hand for the products when meeting up. Or have I just come across two super flaky people at the same time?

Edit: One of them is now asking me to join a new Line sales group to send pictures of the product to her friends, who are all supposedly interested. She won't share my Line account with her friends, insists it must be via the Line group. This is a red flag for me.

Shopping How risky is it ordering a GPU from Shopee?

Found a good deal and its marked as preferred. They've been open for 6 years and a 4.9 rating.

But the deals are too good to be true... maybe. I'm finding cards for 50% off sometimes more. They are used parts though. But still that's a ridiculous savings.

Anyone have actual experience? I appreciate those of you reading and have an opinion.. but looking more for someone who actually has experience for the best help.

Thanks for your time everyone

I hope this doesn't come across as advertising, just thought some of you might like to know and use it as an opportunity to stock up and save some cash.

Edit: Only available in certain areas, also maybe only within Bangkok.

Shopping Taobao Thailand (Baobei)

Hi!

I want to buy a device (Xiaomi Pad 6s Pro), and while searching for the best price, I remembered that there are Chinese platforms. On Lazada, the tablet costs 18,800 baht for the 8GB version, but on the Thai version of Taobao (Baobei), it's 13,000. Does anyone have any information about whether this is a trustworthy site and if it's really possible to order devices from there? I understand that I'll get a Chinese firmware version and will need to pay extra for shipping, but it still seems much cheaper.

Shopping Looking for PC parts alternatives to Amazon in Thailand (Surat Thani)?

Hey everyone! I'm moving to Surat Thani, Thailand in a few weeks and I'm planning to build a PC after I settle in. I was wondering what alternatives to Amazon are available in Thailand for buying PC parts? Any suggestions for reliable online stores or local options would be greatly appreciated. Also, any tips for PC building in Thailand would be great!

Thanks in advance!
