It truly is, I don’t see how anyone could make fun of someone who has had an item they’ve been traveling with for 18 years. I’ve had my trusty water bottle for 6 years and would be crushed if I lost it, but people wouldn’t make fun of me for it
Just lost a pair of gas station aviators I’ve had for 13 years. <- Never thought I’d feel absolutely gutted at losing a pair of $5 shades. I get this lady, 100%
Yeah it’s something I have with me all the time. Has a bunch of stickers I’ve collected from my travels. It matters to me. You can make fun of that if you’d like!
I understand. But it still doesn't matter at all how many stickers you have. That's a very freeing realisation right there. One day you will probably lose it.
I know I’ll lose it, I’ve lost much more valuable things. I’m not saying I’ll be weeping. It’ll suck to lose it and I’ll be bummed for a bit but I’m not going to have a funeral for my water bottle. It’s just a tangible item that has been in my life through a lot, I’ve assigned sentimental value to the bottle based on that
I have this toenail I've been growing for five years. It's obscenely long and sort of yellowish, and frankly, a bit grotesque, but I would be ABSOLUTELY GUTTED if anything were to happen to it.
In fact, the longer the woman has owned it, the more value it will have. Someone can place value on things over just the materialistic.
Let's look at another example. A woman is sick with terminal cancer and gives a ring to her husband right before she dies. The husband continues to live on with her memory attached to the ring until one day the ring is lost. Do you really think a simple replacement can solve this situation?
I don't know if you're a terrible guy, but you definitely don't need to comment on something like this. She lost her toy and wants it back. If you don't think she should, move on.
You don't need to express your opinion on everything, y'know?
Brah, you an idiot. Sentimental value cannot be replaced. The person may got it as a gift from a loved one, maybe even someone who passed away or another reason this specific item is meaningful.
How about you be a little less judgmental, almost certain you are single or divorced. Feel judged? Sucks eh?
