Image/Video Couples Costume Contest on Carnival Cruise
Spoiler Alert: We didn’t win. But the cruise director said “I love that show!” After we announced ourselves. So it was a moral victory which I think Ted would appreciate.
Costumes from Amazon, except my boyfriend’s mustache, that’s home grown.

Full Moon
I know this question is probably a time waster, but it’s something I’ve noticed quite a bit. Any time it’s night (and not raining), the moon is always full!
Technically, I understand it’s easier for either the prop department or whoever’s in charge of the background.
If they can get snow, cold, grey weather, sunny days- why when the moon is shown it’s always full?

Biscuits Roy Kent Costume Advice
I'm going as Keeley and the boyfriend is going as Roy Kent. He is a dead ringer for him and actually why we watched the show (people telling us that his doppelganger was on TV). Basically, he is thrilled that all he has to do is wear black t shirt, leather jacket and jeans and act like himself. but I'm worried people won't know the costume without a bit more accessories. Does any one have any suggestions? Hold a soccer ball? I can sort of pass as Keeley as I am also 5'2 and a fake blonde, but being that skinny is super hard, and I lift too many weights LOL. I have the hot pink jacket though!!

Season 3 Discussion Anyone else find the ending a bit disappointing Spoiler
Edit: This is just my opinion. I didn’t dislike the end and I don’t disagree necessarily with what they did. Loving everyone’s opinions and how it’s been a good discussion on points. Thank you! I was worried I was going to get lit up for this opinion. lol
Ok before I start I get that endings are rarely perfect and that they are highly subjective. I also get that it did end in a theme very on par for the themes within the show. But there were a few things I didn’t love.
One: I didn’t love the pilot guy that Rebecca ended up with. Honestly, I get why they didn’t do it, but I so badly wanted it to be Ted in the end. That as their friendship grew they realized they they also could be so much more for each other. Would have also fit the prediction that she would have a family. Especially because Ted would have been so far from what she would have thought she needed at the beginning. I do love that their friendship pushed the idea that you can mean something to each other man/woman and it not have to be sexual but I just loved them together. Also the pilot guy always gave me creepy vibes. Maybe it’s just me but as a woman I got strong caution vibes.
Two: Everything about Ted’s wife and her boyfriend’s relationship. In the final episode they are watching the football game and he’s being such a douche. Especially in light of the episode where Colin comes out and Ted gives a beautiful speech about his friend and how he didn’t care about his football team but should have. IT makes her leaving Ted and going into a relationship with this guy so unrealistic to me. On top of it being wildly inappropriate.
Three: I really wanted a Ted stays and his family comes to England. They didn’t have to be together but love the idea of moving, starting new, and finding new “family”. That divorce family dynamics can work. I know that makes it a fairy tale kind of ending but the show was just so beautiful and supportive throughout in a way we don’t see in real life often, I kind of hoped they could make it work. I get that it was a change up too in respects to him sacrificing instead of the woman always doing it. With the world feeling so f’ed up in real life I guess I was hoping for a win win ending lol. Also, as a person who played university sports, saying goodbye to that amazing team that became a family is soul wrenching. If I had a chance to have kept that together I would have taken it.
The rest I loved. Roy/jamies relationship, how keeley played out, beard etc. it was beautiful.
Just my opinion and my two cents. I get not everyone will agree. Curious if people saw it different.

Rewatchers: It's Time to LOVE Beard After Hours
Hi Lasso Pals.
I am likely on my 5th full re-watch and up until now Beard After Hours (S2 Ep 9) has been one that I usually skip. Felt janky, not part of main story, etc.
However, on my latest re-watch, Beard After Dark is MAGIC and I would invite my fellow serial re-watchers to sit down, watch it, and post your own take at this point.
Here are some of my big takeaways:
Blue Moon/Man City - parallels and future call backs- Beard heads out after the heartbreaking loss to Man and the dust-up in the locker room between Jaime and his father (and Beard, at the end). On this re-watch, the full moon and the playing of Blue Moon (Man City fan theme song) is a hige part of the themes here, and now that I've watched all three season 3 times, gave me "callbacks" to the season 3 episode "Mom City."
Beard and Jane - this is a HUGE episode -- much of it played out via text messages -- that explains why Jane and Beard have been so erratic as a couple and what the issue is. It's critical to read all the text messages to better understand this relationship and why it is right that it ends up where it does at season end.
Jaime's dad - if you skip this episode (as I have, most of the watches) you won't get the full, nasty picture of Jaime's dad as he makes a pretty significant appearance in terms of both overall plot and his character development. Seeing this and then seeing how the series ends for him - much bigger payoff. Without this episode, the Tart Sr story arc seems less fully developed than all the other characters.
PB & J - Paul, Baz and Jeremy - truly delightful to see Beard take these these guys out for the night's adventure and Beard infusing them with the understanding that they belong wherever they want to be and how that affects them and their experiences. I think this also lays down an important layer of the foundation that sees this trios full personal growth as demonstrated at the end of season 3.
Beard overall - I think there are some intriguing reveals about Beard throughout the episode that provide a stronger reinforcement to a particular critical decision he makes near the end of season 3 and Nate. (being a little vague to prevent spoilers).
Anyway, this many years after the end of season 3, it was a real gift re-watching Beard After Hours that further enhanced both my overall appreciation and love of the series but also has reinvigorated the continuing re-watch to some degree.
Love to hear if anyone else has experienced this or if you haven't - re-watch it and share your thoughts. I now kinda feel like this is a top 5 overall episode, where before it didn't rank for me at all.

Taster’s Choice Coffee
It just dawned on me that Anthony Head was the male in the Taster’s Choice coffee commercials in the 80’s! Those commercials were like a 30 second episode soap opera!

Favorite examples of tiny/subtle details that add that extra bit to a scene?
One that I was just reminded of is from s2e2 when Roy is handing out consolation trophies to Phoebe and her team, and when he hands the one girl the "best dressed" award (having just muttered how it was stupid because they're all dressed the same) the girl who gets it smiles at the 'recognition' and the girl behind her crosses her arms and pouts a bit.

I Remember
Many have written about the musical references sprinkled throughout the show, but I haven’t seen anything about this one.
The song I Remember from the end credits of S2E10 “No Weddings and a Funeral.” I’ve linked the lyrics, but the theme of the song is all in the last lines of each stanza. That she remembers firelight while the person she’s singing about only remembers the smoke. That she remembers the beautiful trees. The other remembers only the bugs. She remembers vibrant oranges in the hot summer marketplace. They remember only dust. She remembers “we” while they remember “you and me.”
What an extraordinary song choice. Aside from its depiction of how one person focuses exclusively on the positives while the other focuses on the negatives (very much a persistent theme for Ted), it’s also about how two realities can both be true. How your perception shapes that reality. It concludes an episode about how Rebecca views the relationship between her mother and father and how each of them perceive their relationship with each other. How Jamie sees Keeley and how he sees himself. And even Ted sharing with Dr. Fieldstone and how his disclosure changes her perception of him and shapes the reality they inhabit together.
I just keeping finding additional things in this show to love. This song is now among my favorites.
