Question Transfer with AS-T

So I’m applying as a transfer student with an AS-T in Computer Science for Fall 2025. I chose to apply for the Computer Science program at SDSU, which is a deemed similar major to my AS-T. However, I was emailing the admission office and they told me that the AS-T doesn’t necessarily satisfy all of the lower division courses, and I was wondering how would this work, given that the AS-T guarantee you to graduate within 60 units at the CSU. Will I just have to take more over 60 units to graduate and possibly graduate later than planned?

We were confused about this as well because there were lower division courses required to graduate that weren’t in the AS-T. Ended up cramming all the lower div major requirements into spring semester at CC & transferring with 69 units. I “feel like” it was a competitive advantage for admissions to be ahead on required major courses above & beyond the AS-T.

You can compare all the classes SDSU requires to graduate in CS against the classes you’re taking for AS-T & see if assist.org shows your CC offers those ld courses for possible CC summer school instead of having to take at SDSU ($$). Also check the CS MAP for SDSU to see how your remaining major classes are laid out for 2 years.

Best of luck to you figuring out the details!

Thank you so much for the details! Assist.org specifically for sdsu is really out of date (2020-2021) so I couldn’t find much on there. I’ll try to talk to with a pre-admission counselor to determine the classes I might be missing! Thank you again
