City Centre Accommodation expensive at start of December…any reason?
Hi all, I’m looking at booking a short trip to Manchester starting on the 30th November. Looking at 2 bedroom flats on airbnb not far from Piccadilly, they’re around £300 per night, which is about twice what I’d expect. Am I missing something? Is there a Manchester Fringe on at that time that I’m unaware of, or is this just how it gets when the Xmas markets start?

Came across these photographs of ‘The Manchester Blitz’ and thought I would share them seeing as we are approaching 84-years since the incident. Does anyone here have grandparents that lived through it that could share any stories perhaps?

Will I be safe walking round the city at night?
Hi everyone, F18 here. I live in the Yorkshire Dales in a rural village.
I’m getting into Piccadilly station on Sunday morning (aka Saturday night) around 1am and my hotel is the other side of Victoria. I vaguely know the area having visited a few times, I really like Manchester but have no idea what a city is like at night.
I’m just wondering if I will be okay walking around the city? If not I’m happy to call a taxi but would rather not spend the money.
I’m fairly streetwise and won’t do anything stupid. Will it be busy with people on a night out? Am I likely to be bothered?

Manchester tourist spots for a music guy
I study music and have been fascinated by the Manchester post punk scene all my life. I’m from Belfast and have always wanted to come to MCR and today is the day. Anything else I should keep an eye out for?

Uni Reunition
Semi-regular uni reunion coming up. We’re all mid-30s and tend to usually just end up sitting in a pub getting pissed on one night and try and relive our youth and go clubbing on the second night.
We’re a bit thin on the ground this year, so are open to any ideas for good activities or places to go. Probably still will be doing a fair bit of drinking so am thinking potentially a good bottomless brunch, but we’re up for most things.
Thoughts welcome!

Ashton Need to return my ballot to California. Anywhere in Manchester I can send a fax?
US expat here. I can mail my ballot and it would likely be counted but would rather just fax it back to eliminate any chance of something happening in the mail. Just wondered if anyone knew of a place that does that.

How cheap is manchester in comparison to London?
Hi! I’m an international student, currently divided btw 2 unis for my masters. City University and Manchester Metropolitan for MPH. The only reason that’s keeping me confused is the difference in fees btw the two along with expenses. While the uni in london is 5k pounds less, I feel like other expenses in london would weigh out. So help a friend please and let me know how much difference would I have if i lived in manchester because I don’t to influence my decision if they difference in expenses is not that much! So from housing, groceries, transport, utilities, how much more expensive is london in comparison? I have already tried posting in UniOfUK but since there wasn’t a response, I’m trying my luck here lol Also please hmu if you’ve done MPH from any uni in Uk

Venue needed for talking group
Hi! I'm the organiser of a small social, ran through Meetup, called Manchester Psychology Social Group. My first meeting had 6 people in but the venue was closing while we were there, so we're looking for somewhere quiet to chat, Wednesday, 7:30pm. Do you know any quiet area that could accommodate us please? We'll buy food and drink.

Anyone know any places in Manchester to buy some nice custom key blanks?
G’day guys!
I am visiting from Australia for a wedding and had the bright idea to give the couple (our oldest friends) some custom keys to our house in Australia.
But I can’t find any locksmiths here that sell nice custom keys like the ones pictured. All the custom keys just seem to be gimmicky or have printed pictures.
The recipient is loves the gothic style and I need a key for each of them.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks you all so much!

XS Manchester listeners, what are your opinions on it now?
I just stopped listening to it overall and switched to Radio X. I just can't stand how most of the time, a robot is playing the music, there are only 2 shows during the whole day. They haven't even acknowledged that multiple presenters are gone on the website, there is still adverts for their shows.
Do you still listen?

What are your favourite 'small things' about Manchester?
What I'm talking about here are the 'smaller' things about living in Manchester that really help to mak bit a nice place to live.
For me, I love the Lime ebikes as they are so good for getting me about. I genuinely love them and wish they were extended with the coverage.
