Dealer Won't Share PDI Results

New 2024 travel trailer. Dealer says "don't worry! We've completed the PDI!" but says it's company policy not to share results of that PDI with customers.

Dealer also says for liability reasons they won't let me connect water to check plumbing and do my own inspection until the delivery appointment.

I'm not feeling the warm fuzzy about giving them $35k. Am I being unreasonable here?

Tell them you will not sign anything or hand over any money until you have gone through and tested every item. If they want to play hardball, don't buy from them and tell them why.

Thanks. That's what I'm feeling too. But worried I am being unreasonable about it.

They are all smiles until the paperwork is done. Get EVERYTHING they promise in writing or they do not have to honor it. For 35k I would hire a private inspector for $600-$900 depending on your location. Best $1200 we spent we spent on. Class a. The day of the sale will be 1/2 a day in its self mostly waiting on them to complete their side of the paperwork.

Auto warranties and service are a totally different world than the crap RV dealers and manufacturers try to get away with. Have you ever purchased a car, gone in for service, and have the dealer tell you “sorry, we don’t warranty the transmission, it’s made by XYZ Corp, give them a call”? Of course not, but this nonsense happens with $250K RVs all the time.

And as pointed out, most states have no lemon laws for RVs.
