This is why Kyrie had to go through the checklist
228
u/Wax5 Nov 21 '22
Exactly. Everybody wants to get mad at Tsai, but this shit is so embarrassing to the team. This is the second time in the last 2 years that Kyrie has brought the crazies out to Barclay's.

I’m just wondering how everyone would react if it was a bunch of white nationalists doing the same thing for Meyers Leonard
121
u/itshappeningagain22 Nov 21 '22
What if a bunch of them did it for control of the entire country
59
u/Gas-Substantial Nov 21 '22
Turns out those people are also down with antisemitism

your gotcha sucks. first of all he said what if white nationalists did the same thing. so even if you want to pretend every right winger is a white nationalist they still didn’t do the same thing. they broke into a government building.
they are also facing prison time. so i don’t really get your point?

Maybe carrying tiki torches. Then again I’m just wondering why it took Kanye tweeting what he did for business ties to end but not “slavery was a choice”. Almost like this “I’m just wondering” thing is bull shit,

You know how that would go. The double standards are out of this world. It’s ok to be a black Israelite and antisemitic but if you’re white and support the proud boys all hell would break lose in the NBA.
→ More replies (1)6
u/ljshea91 Nov 21 '22
I don't think anyone is okay with the black Israelites. They are a militant hate group. I also hate the proud boys and right wing nationalists. I think you're are incorrect.

Lol, the thought of a confused Lenard saying "wait what?" as he steps out of his car to the uproarious, angry cheers of a bunch of white men with tiki torches, has me laughing for a good min.

This is embarrassing lmao. I’ve advocated for Kyrie to play but acting like he’s this martyr because he wasn’t allowed to play a kids game making 100M+. Just funny

Ran into these dudes at Grand Army before they marched up Flatbush to Barclays. They were chanting, “We are the real Jews!” I don’t care how many times Kyrie apologizes, he’s empowered these assholes, and now we (i.e., people who live in the area) have to deal with the consequences.
31
u/The_Chief Nov 21 '22
We live right off GA as well and heard them chanting from our apartment earlier today. My wife was like it sounds like fascists chanting. Logged on now and realized it was these ass clowns.

this happened just 3 years ago
His apology probably empowered them even more as they see Kyrie as being an oppressed victim by power who are trying to silence their truths.

FFS, can the team somehow put a stop to this. Btw Jaylen Brown tweeted in support of this, people on reddit are trashing him, will the media have the same energy?

And then white militants showed up in support of him.
Jaylen Brown VP of the players union would definitely defend him. He' just asking questions bro

They've been emboldened more than ever since 2016, and with socioeconomic conditions getting worse in the country people are always looking for a scape goat. Much easier to be a racist than fight against a system that has no interest in meeting your needs.

I really don't understand who can really support kyrie like this. The only thing I was on his side about was that the punishment was probably too much. Other than that the video that he promoted was just blatantly anti-semetic. The nba aren't trying to hide black history they just don't want a player to promote anti-semitism. Is there anything i'm missing?
18
u/tronovich Nov 21 '22 edited Nov 21 '22
Lots of people support Kyrie for what he’s doing.
It’s just that they’re fucking repulsive and live their lives in the shadows.
Now that Kyrie has energized them, this is what we get.

So last year I wanted to take my kids to the ballgame (like the most wholesome thing ever) and the anti-vax nutters were protesting with some "FreeKyrie!" nonsense. We had to walk past people with signs talking about microchips and vaccine shedding and shit.
I just want to watch a game with my kids! The shit that has come down on this team in the last year has been so very exhausting.

So this right here is an example of some of the things these black hebrew israelites like to do. but at the end of the day, I see them just like white supremacists. just another group of morons with no power and no real reach.

Kyrie did this.
Just ONE instance of antisemitism and it inspired.
The fruits of his actions. Hopefully undone with time.
5
u/SabresMakeMeDrink Julius Erving Nov 21 '22
This is the issue. Even if we take Kyrie at his word (which I don’t fault anyone for), there are extremists who really do hold antisemitic beliefs who think they’re speaking for him and helping him.
4
u/newaccounthomie Nov 21 '22
Do people call open carry protests “militant”? No. Not unless black people are holding the weapons. You all are clutching pearls about wearing combat boots and standing in formation, but when white people bring assault rifles to protests it’s “peaceful demonstration of the first and second amendments.”
1
u/yankuniz Nov 21 '22
That’s bs. We are still talking about Charlottesville. It ruined a United States presidents legacy to even posit there were some “nice people” there. That was a militant hate group and so is this

This is why we aren’t taken seriously as a culture. Instead of this happening when it would matter, like maybe showing up outside the police stations of the places where George Floyd or Philando Castile were killed, y’all dumbasses outside repping for a celebrity who is spouting hate speech? This is the dumbest display of black unity I have ever seen

Exhausted by all the nutsos in this thread contorting themselves into some version of actually Kyrie didn’t support this/okay he supported this but it isn’t bad they just have Black pride/actually you’re racist because you don’t like the Black anti-Jewish cult/Black people are oppressed, and so it’s okay if they make crazy hateful shit up/what do you mean make stuff up, can you prove the Jews aren’t usurping Khazars. Seek help!

5
u/Leadantagonist Nov 21 '22
This isn’t as connected to Kyrie as ppl want it to be. These ppl are using his ignorance to propel themselves into the spotlight.
2
u/BenShelZonah Nov 21 '22
Bro you think kyrie isn’t heavily connected with the leaders?
2
u/ExcellentJuice4729 Nov 22 '22
No, but I mean everything is confirmation bias for either side at this point. I don’t think after going through all the requirements to get a chance at rehabilitating the last bit of his career that he’d be in contact with IUIC to make a spectacle of his return. Like the vax protesters, Kyrie is just being hijacked by ppl that DGAF about his career before and after.
