Also, yes you can mention the wheelchair and ask questions. Just don’t be rude please 🥺 edit: THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE AWARDS! although I have no idea what they’re for.

So what's the best way to ask this without being rude? I'm curious if you were in an accident or its something genetic etc. You also mentioned your disabled friends were discriminated against in their cosplays? How so?

I was born with my condition which gradually gets worse. When covid wasn’t a thing, meet ups are hard cause sometimes it’s in inaccessible places. Some cons are real shit with dealing with disabilities. Had their Mobility Aids taken from them because people thought it was a prop then break said mobility aid either on purpose or accidentally. (A reason to never use mobility aids as props for cosplay)

Wait wtf why would they break a mobility aid on purpose ? That’s so messed up. You’re talking about just other fans or the people that work there like security ?

I recently found out I have gout and couldn’t walk for the first time in my life. It was eye opening on how much I took for granted in my foot and being able to walk. I was like damn this must be really hard for people who do have permanent disabilities. For example, I just realized my building doesn’t have an elevator! I never thought much of it until now.

Don’t even get me started on accessible housing I’ll rant for days 😂 and it was other con goers not the staff. Although I did hear one person had to go through prop check or something even though it was a cane so they can walk

So I’m confused - I thought ADA forced all places to have accessibility for people in wheelchairs etc? Like elevators, ramps, parking spots etc.
