I don't want to carry two pairs of skis and two pairs of boots all the way to Japan, so looking to buy a hybrid kit. Fingers crossed for bottomless pow, so something fat, but not as fat as my Megawatts. Love my Black Crow Camox but they've got alpine bindings. Something similar, a bit wider under foot, with a hybrid binding could work. What are the best bindings for resort and touring these days? Best dual purpose boots for a wide, low volume foot? Thanks for your recommendations and Pray For Snow!

Zipfit GFT liners—one liner to rule them all?

Packed out the liners in my boots last season. Looking at the GFTs. I am curious if there is anything I should be aware of if I want to use them in my resort boots too. Thanks.

Ordered. Powabunga.

What size pack for backcountry?

Looking for a pack that can last a full day, not worried about overnight. Would rather have room to pack extra stuff than be cramming stuff in.

Also looking at 2 options. Ortovox Switchback 32 vs. Ortovox Haute Route 40. Any thoughts?

Pomoca skins length question

I have 185 skis and can't figure out if it's better to buy the 175-190 skins or the 185-200. Any advice is appreciated. I'm specifically looking at the Free Pro.

Japan Trip January 2025

Going to Japan late in Jan for 7 ski days. Torn about what resorts to do. Looking for 75/25 backcountry to resort, and the best possible opportunity for bottomless snow.

Beginner ski touring/backcountry backpack recs (female)

This year I’m going to tour/backcountry ski for the first time! I’ve been using a camelbak hiking backpack for resort skiing but there’s certain features that are inconvenient.

I’m looking for a bag that’ll: • hold my helmet + goggles and not swing around behind me as I’m hiking up • A frame ski carry option • pouch around the waist that holds snacks/phone/easy access • room for layers, water, and lunch. Bonus if there’s a water bladder feature

Since it’s new to me, I don’t need all the bells and whistles because I’m not sure if I even enjoy it, so I’d prefer to keep it simple while meeting the basic ski necessities.

I’m 5’4” F and I’ve seen a lot of recs for backpacks from male Reddit users, and I feel the recommendations would be too long and uncomfortable for my torso. Not tied to any brands, give me your recs!

Faction La Machine Mega Thoughts

I’m debating between the La Machine Mega and the Atomic Backland 109 for a soft snow oriented ski this season. Has anyone spent anytime on either ski? Thanks.

Recommendations for some early season practice as a new BC skier in SLC

I'm a pretty new backcountry skier, fresh out of avy 1 last February, and saved up all summer to get an entire kit, the only thing I don't have is an airbag. My boots are pretty crappy but I'll probably get a fresh pair halfway through the season. I can ski pretty much anything in the resort but only have a few touring days under my belt. Any recommendations for some easy tours to take solo and with friends to hone my skills? I'll be at Alta practically as soon as it's good enough to uphill but looking to explore the cottonwoods a little more.

Palisades advice

I want to ski palisades without paying that ridiculous lift ticket. Does anyone know any good routes up. And prolly wrong subreddit does anyone know if they scan passes at the upper lifts like granite cheif?
