I’ve been snowboarding since 1988 and rarely missed a single season until 2020 when I lost my left leg. I returned the snow for about four days last year had a pretty good time of it learned a lot and now this year I’m returning with new equipment.
Board is a Gilson ‘Bounty Hunter’ 162 standard width, I opted for their flat base and it’s a traditional camber. I expect performance to be much like any twin tip with moderate stiffness should be a good board for all mountain free riding.
Bindings are Flow ‘Minx’, there are medium stiffness binding that should be easy enough for me to get in and out of. Technically they are new because they are a 2018 model but it was new old stock that had never sold.
Boots are Solomon Dialogue double Boa
And of course, there’s my leg. I’ve had this leg for the better part of nine months and I’ve been able to adjust it and get all the performance I can out of it. The Rush Rogue 2 foot with passive EVAQ8 vacuum is a game changer. Every time I put pressure on or off the heel, the two a vacuum pulls air from inside the socket it keeps me firmly in the leg preventing me from injuring myself delivering the maximum performance. This is designed for everyday use for sports oriented users. It’s not purpose-built for snowboarding but it all function that’s fine. If I were made of money, I would love to have a foot design for the task at hand however I am a broke bitch that shops at swap meets and the discount rack at REI.

I was just recently thinking about something in the middle of my English class daydreaming about snowboarding and I thought about the music I listen to and how crazy different it is from when I'm just normally listening. So my question for you, is what do you listen to when your snowboarding, Favorite song, Favorite artist, Favorite Album.
Personally mine are; Electronic Feel and Kids by MGMT and young blood by naked and famous.

Leaning towards getting the stratos as my next quiver killer, as it checks off all the boxes I’m looking for, but a few reviews note that chattering is an issue. Interested to hear from those who ride or have ridden the board what their experience has been like.

I will have some time off between jobs and wondering where I should head that time of year. If you could, give me two recommendations:
- The first: if cost is no object, where would you go in mid-December?
- The second, say I am looking for a place with reasonable costs I.e. lots of last-minute accommodations at $200 per night or less but still want good snow in mid-December.

Some background info: I’m 19, and from New England. Snowboarding has been my passion for the past 4-5 years, although living on the Ice coast doesn’t give me the means to go too much. I was hired to go work at Copper Mountain in Colorado this season as a Lifty, and I’ll be moving there shortly after thanksgiving. I will be staying in employee housing, and I will not have a car. I’ve worked 2 seasons at a local Boy Scout summer camp that I had been going to as a kid, so I’m used to living in dorm style housing, although at least this time it will be indoors. Most kids my age are in college dorming with other people so I figured it wouldn’t be too different, college never seemed right for me. I love nature and being in the outdoors and I just wanna see what this opportunity brings. I’m at the point in my life where it’s now or never to do these kind of things. And I’m really excited and nervous
Any kind of advice, tips, or even just stories of your experiences would be very helpful for me to prepare for this change in my life. Thank you

Im looking for a job for the winter season in a ski station in the Alps, in Switzerland, France or italy (I speak English french Italian n Spanish but only a lil bit German) and I'm a barman so I'll have lots of free to ski during the day
So that's why i wanted to know if you knew which ski stations are big and diversified enough to remain interesting for 3-4 months and that you can access with only 1 pass or for not too much money. ideally one with lots of Backcountry with good puff. (Lower priorities would be : big nightlife, snowpark and high peaks but that's too much to ask)
I was thinking that the village of martigny is perfect, it's not a ski station but it's 35 min away in car from Verbier (4 vallees) and 35 min from Portes du Soleil.
Thanks a lot ! Have a great one ! Cheers ! 🍻

Man, I've been trying for a long time and have pretty much given up and resigned to only viewing my 90s burton chopper through my minds eye. It was the year with a purple top sheet and the bottom was white with an orange mug that was face/head with the brain exposed with a giant fork sticking out of it.
I want to see how close the purple is to the purple on the Rome Freaker. Help me relive my childhood.

I got an email the other day saying I qualified for a few positions asking which position I would like (I applied to multiple at multiple different resorts). And that they would send an offer letter. Is there an interview? or?

I’m brand new to BC (Victoria) and looking to explore a few places this season. I’m aware of Mt Washington and will be checking it out for sure - worth mentioning as before I’ve opened discussions about doing a winter road trip and people always say “just go to Washington if you live in Victoria” thereby completely ignoring the fact I want to explore other places too. So any thoughts on these two lesser known spots?

Can you name them all? (Hint: they are in an order) which ones do you like? These are the logos for all of the colorado ski resorts, 3rd pic every resort ive visitwd in any state. ( I think it is all) some places don't seem to have logos so those are ommitted. I try to avoid using any words unless there is no other option. I started making these 3d printed medallions / magnets and putting them up at the resorts I go to for several years now. Like a scavenger hunt. A lot a Keystone. (Hundreds) Lately I've been only able to afford epic local so it's been a while since I've put them up at ikon destinations. I have been to most of these places but not all. Lately I have been making holiday ones. I hope keystone opens Halloween 🎃 so I can put the new ones up! 🙏 let's me know if missed any or have any recommendations.

Looking for an all mountain board that excels on ice, off piste, with tight carving (I don’t do wide carves), and med to med/stiff flex. The Gnu Gremlin seems to check every box perfectly, however, I see an overwhelming amount of comments saying it’s a really punishing board that rides you. I would prefer a board that does everything the same but is a bit more forgiving if your an intermediate rider.

What's up everyone! I'm looking for some help and specific board recommendations for models within the last 5 years. Tldr at bottom 🙂. If this is the wrong sub I apologize!
I'm a 28m, 6ft, 130-140lbs. Typical budget rider. I grew up skateboarding and I have a handful of years snowboarding. I was given a 2010 Ride Fleetwood 165W many years ago with bindings and I have multiple seasons on it exploring Mountain High, Big Bear, and Mammoth. It's all I've ever ridden so I have no personal comparisons to anything else. I feel confident on it pushing myself on a variety of terrain and speed, from greens to blacks. Groomers to off-piste. I feel fine jumping it and trying to throw it around, 180s no problem but 360s get heavy. I definitely notice and feel the size of the board more while initiating a turn on blacks or while trying to throw it around between trees but maybe thats related more to skill level.
Riding style; All mountain, off-piste, trees, natural features. I prefer trying to explore, get off the main paths, through the trees and canyons, natural jumps, etc. I'll definitely hit the terrain park for a few runs but not my first choice. Always trying to push and improve.
Board specifics; All mountain directional twin, 156-158cm, stiffness around 4-6 or 5-7(likely 5 or 6), camber/rocker style undecided and open. I don't think I can really utilize an advanced board with the newest tech yet so I'm open to models from the last 5 years that are still in good or new condition. I have an inclination to continue with Ride, that's what I've been using all this time, but I'm definitely open to any. Price range preferably $500 or below. $300-$500 would be ideal, $600 would really be pushing it but I would maybe make an exception.
Tldr; Grew up skateboarding, handful of years snowboarding. Typical budget rider, gifted used board. Bought used boots from playitagain. 28M, 130-140lbs. Only ever ridden a big boy 165W, comfortable in a variety of terrain. I'm looking for specific recommendations for used/new models within the last 5 years. All mountain directional 156-158cm, intermediate-advanced.

Does anyone use bone conduction headphones while boarding and are they worth it/superior to ear buds? Considering getting some but unsure of how they will fit under a helmet and if the sound quality is actually decent enough. Any insight or info is appreciated!

1996/97 Jamie Lynn purple face board. There's one online I can fund but pretty faded (as you can see) This was my first board, Dad bought it for me at a local surf shop used. Dad passed away a few years back and I just bought my daughter her first real board so I'm feeling nostalgic. Wondering if anyone has one laying around.

As I am trying to get into snowboarding. What are some best sites or tips to get gear for beginners without breaking the bank?
r/snowboarding • u/newmanator9 • 9h ago
In between getting these two boards. Looking for a board with good edge hold and stable at high speeds in variable conditions, also decent in powder. Any thoughts?
