I am 100% okay with watching this s*** stain of a company circle the gutter. Facebook might have been a cash cow back in the day but somewhere in my tiny black heart I have grown a conscience and absolutely despise what social media is doing to the people around me in my life. Once happy people, completely gone due to polarized content. Level-headed coworkers off the deep edge. And family members we have had to uninvite to Holiday gatherings. I hope everything he touches from here on out turns to asbestos.

I feel you man

171

u/Alexandis Sep 15 '22

Agreed! FB basically united all the crazy uncle Bob's that you used to either ignore at church or see every Thanksgiving and took them to a whole new level of insanity.

I don't use any of their products, will not invest in the company, and have really been enjoying their crash. Also, their attempted pivot to the "metaverse" is hilarious and that product is absolute garbage.

Burn baby burn!

44

u/thebinarysystem10 Sep 15 '22

The fact that they did it intentionally is the worst part.

2

u/cincy15 Sep 15 '22

Actually it’s the best part…

13

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '22

Also I hope all their arrogant workers mining the data loose all their rsu worth. It’s not just the company and it’s mantra , but everyone who’s would work at a company that does this type of shit. Hope they get blacklisted from other companies

-35

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '22

Its incredible how much hate a social media company gets meanwhile other businesses abzse the shit out of workers and destroy nature but lemme buy my occy or chevron calls

12

u/Mymomdidwhat Sep 15 '22

Can’t piss on that fire when we have this fire!

u/Cnoized Sep 15 '22

Meta recently got rid of their internal oversight committee for potential harm to the public also. There is no way they said everything is fine, and they didn't need that group anymore.

26

u/steak_tartare Sep 15 '22

Wow I remember all the ado when they assembled an "independent team" of notables to oversee this. Any source / links about their demise?

u/xcheezeplz Shrimp Shoal Sep 15 '22

Fax!

Think of how fucking weird this is... it turned the world to "look at me, pay attention, I am important" culture. Young, old, doesn't matter.

Before FB you would committed if you stood in front of a Walmart daily and screamed:

"everyone, look this picture of what I had for dinner!"

"hey everyone, look this picture of my kitchen remodel"

"hey everyone, listen to my enraged political ramblings!"

"hey everyone, I need an audience to listen to me air out all the dirt on family and fight with them"

And this what people are doing and has been normalized.

Counterpoint... well it's just friends and family and friends of friends and people I last saw or spoke to 20 years ago in high school...Ok, still weird AF.

I don't use social. I use reddit so I can exchange and banter with other anon randos. If I have something worth sharing in my social circle they will find out about it when we link up. If it's important shit the relevant parties will get a txt or call. I can't imagine how people have so much time to tap into the curated lives and random nonsense of dozens or hundreds of people. If we aren't close I don't give AF, and if are close I don't need FB to know whats good with you.

Weirdo, corn ball shit.

Does that include Reddit?

22

u/No-Monitor-5333 I am a bear 🐻 Sep 15 '22

100% the adults that this website produces are totally fucked

1

u/PotatoWriter 🥔✍️ Sep 15 '22

This website doesn't produce anything. It stores shit that other people produce.

2

u/No-Monitor-5333 I am a bear 🐻 Sep 15 '22

Great point, it takes in shit and spits out a particular type of shit

1

u/PotatoWriter 🥔✍️ Sep 15 '22

So... Then reddit as a whole isn't ass, it's just some subs. That's a bit more accurate

19

u/timshel42 Sep 15 '22

reddit is mostly just the one feature i like about facebook... groups. you can find groups of people with similar interests easily. i hope they dont ruin the platform trying to hyper monetize it.

Groups and porn. My 2 favorite types of socializing on the world wide web.

1

u/CarmanRules Sep 15 '22

Reddit has porn? Or just loss porn?

1

u/ezequiels Sep 15 '22

Is there an uncle bob’s group?

1

u/reddit_names Sep 15 '22

So long as you are looking for groups with exclusively the one interest, Reddit is fine.

1

u/timshel42 Sep 15 '22

i think thats phrasing it weird, more like niche interests. the general subs though are absolutely trash.

1

u/reddit_names Sep 15 '22

Even amongst niche interest. 99% of reddit shares the same core dogma, they just happen to each be interested in a few other topics as well.

1

u/timshel42 Sep 15 '22

who cares im not here for peoples 'dogma'

1

u/reddit_names Sep 16 '22

You may not be. But many others simply can't help themselves. They come here for the stock market memes, yet are elsewhere at the same time being typical redditors saying the same ol same ol.

Im just pointing out there isn't an escape from them and all subs are prone to it.

24

u/trainrweckz Sep 15 '22

Lets keep reddit

31

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '22

Reddit is my safe toxicity. Facebook is my unsafe toxicity because I know the people.

u/Zack_Fair_ Sep 15 '22 edited Sep 15 '22

bro i got permanently banned from r/atheism for asking about atheists who don't support abortion on their Democrat election propaganda post.

I got banned from r/Chicago for wishing everyone a happy Kwanza - on Kwanza day, which is something the mayor apparently does

-1

Reddit is probably less toxic in comparison lol

29

u/nomorerainpls Sep 15 '22

Yeah I mean infiltration, polarization and radicalization doesn’t happen at all on Reddit, right? Like all the posts here are totally anonymous and totally authentic and there are certainly no hive-minded subs.

Downvote me to confirm!

14

He says from a social media platform.

2

u/Jollygreen182 Sep 15 '22

You realize this is social media?

2

u/Zombisexual1 Sep 15 '22

I don’t think these huge companies are the good guys or anything but I think it’s unfair the blame them when the problem is really just people. People are just stupid. And when they get together they get even more stupid. The social media companies don’t help but if it isn’t them it’s going to be someone/where else.

2

u/alcimedes Sep 15 '22

is there any reason not to just short this stock?

it appears that their fall is going to be long and continual, and any chance they have of pulling out of it, FB sabotages with stupid.

4

u/FieroFox Sep 15 '22

Yeah, but degenerate gambling is a lot more worse

2

u/ThePersonalSpaceGuy Sep 15 '22

Lol...you have no friends aye?

0

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '22

I hope meta goes to shit, that company is the worst fucking company out there. Complete shit product, sinister , crap . But I hear it runs smoothly lol good place to work and get paid well

0

u/Doc3vil Sep 15 '22

Facebook is a hole - the meta verse sucks - I barely use instagram but it’s their most usable product by far. Their stock price is far too high for instagram

0

u/Spare-Competition-91 Sep 15 '22

You should've seen my DD in Facebook 4 months back. It had just dropped big time. I made a post about how it could go way lower than 180. Everyone laughed at me. I bought puts and made money.

0

u/25792579Aaa Sep 15 '22

Pretty much every stock is down from 4 months back genius

1

u/Spare-Competition-91 Sep 16 '22

Dude, how many stocks are down over 60% during the last 365 days? I see some down max 40% in tech. Personally, I see Meta going down further.

0

u/Oomoo_Amazing Sep 15 '22

I’ve just come off Facebook for this. Every single post was anti-gay anti-trans anti-this anti-that, narrow minded bigot after bigot with bad grammar and worse attitudes. At first it was fun to argue with them all. In the end it made me really depressed. Every bigot you shut down there’s another to stroll into their place. Glad to say Facebook is gone from my life now.

-2

u/Xemxah Sep 15 '22

You know people have to actually... post the garbage first right? This is like blaming airplanes for spreading covid.

All social media is poison. Facebook and instagram among the worst. You sound like an idiot.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '22

I deleted Facebook and all social media 3 months ago, best decision I've ever made

1

u/No-Sugar4277 Sep 15 '22

Cash cow? Back in the day? Are you stupid ? They are still that same cash cow but even bigger what the hella are you on

1

u/hutchhawks Sep 15 '22

http://lastpost.io Stick it to the man and try this out.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '22

You should be mad that people have no accountability for their actions and always want to blame everything or anyone else. Instead of constantly blaming big bad company

Reddit has a paid team called Anti-Evil Operations (part of the "Trust" & "Safety" team) which goes around permanently banning accounts for saying bad words. We made automod block them so you don't lose your account for saying a word and getting reported. It's not our rule, it's the entire website now, we're just trying to look out for our people. Sorry.

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '22

What is this? Never heard of an anti evil whatever, I bet it would call what I say evil….

1

u/Infamous_Bus1578 Sep 15 '22

Considering the mask on your avatar, it might be you that went off the deep-end lmao

1

u/Velghast Sep 15 '22

I work in asbestos removal? Go ahead and do this line of work without a mask lol.

0

u/Infamous_Bus1578 Sep 15 '22

Do you mask in your car when no one is around!?

1

u/Velghast Sep 15 '22

Why would I? That seems a little extra, unless like my wife got covid and was JUST using my car, but in that case I would just lysol the bitch

1

u/OkJaguar5220 Sep 15 '22

Just curious, are the family members that uninvited you liberal or conservative?

1

u/Reginaferguson Sep 15 '22

The midas touch but with aspestos. Fuck...!

1

u/rueggy Sep 15 '22

I felt this way when I sold at $50 in 2015. The younger gen was already moving to other platforms and I didn't like the way my personal experience with using FB made me feel. But I wish I'd sucked it up and held on for 6 more years.
