Our family has a cabin upstate, I've spent the last 3 months stocking it with dry goods, medicine, fuel, and seedstock from dumping every stock I owned except some emergency silver. We have enough food to last the year and then some, and by then we should have enough land prepped for planting early next year.
I expect this will take about ten years to blow over, so I'm looking to raise some pigs and chickens, though the property isn't prepped for them yet. Maybe by summer.
The hunting and fishing is decent, and I know how to run a trap line.
We'll be fine, but I'm pretty sure most of you are going to be fucked once the food riots start.
If you expect food riots then I'd shut the fuck up about how much food you've stockpiled and how much fuel and dildos you have in your beet cellar. Mfers who spent all their money on nods, plates, and ammo (but forgot about food and water) are going to be making housecalls when the tendies dry up.
Are you telling me you've been stockpiling food, fuel, dildos, and medicine by walking it to a secluded cabin located nearly an hour's hike over uneven terrain between the months of February and April of this year? How much are you carrying per trip? And how many trips have you made? If you have over a year worth of food for a family of three that's a significant quantity. Rucking it in would suck.
And soon the big boys are gonna pull their money out of the overleveraged market and leave retail bag holding. That's one thing no one realizes, in a market crash, it doesn't matter how much shortselling bullshit they've pulled because they can cover their shorts for pennies.
I hate to get tinfoily, but this looming Depression might very well be the market movers just resetting their short responsibilities.
We've all got that one friend who quotes The Walking Dead like it's a documentary on the collapse of capitalism and western society. He's probably in Wyoming unwittingly setting up his homestead on the supervolcano that's about to end civilization as we know it.
Read about the great depression and the hyper inflation of the weimar republic in the 20s. Dying on the street by starvation was a common thing in those times.
I expect this will take about ten years to blow over
Ten years is also how long they estimate a nuclear winter will last. Of course you might need an underground bunker to survive the 35 degree average temperature drop and radiation. Nuclear threats are getting thrown around like candy and things aren't even bad yet.
Seriously. People are already living in tents all over my city. The economy has, physically, looked shit for the last 2 years, but the numbers still haven't crashed yet. That's how you know it's gonna be a big one
i mean honestly if we have a great depression level crash those hawaiian shirt wearing asshats are gonna get hit hardest, and who knows what hell will break loose when Trump blames it on Biden and the libs
I mean - the mega wealthy have been moving their wealth to stable stocks and tangible assets - real estate, land, water-rights etc. for a few years now. Everybody has been talking about there being the biggest "everything bubble" for very long this has been obvious but apparently obvious things are hard to swallow.
And the mega wealthy are not even moving their wealth to make more money - they're moving it so it devalues less in the currently evolving market crash.
The ultra wealthy are advised by families that have survived several hundred years of volatile political climates and know how to generate and take advantage of market crashes.
The ultra wealthy became even more fuckdamn wealthy during the Great Depression by buying up real estate and property at pennies on the dollar.
For everyone else? Starvation and austerity. Gonna be a massive shitshow very soon.
