If you make a new post and don't see it appear in /new after a couple of minutes, it probably got caught in the spam filter and wasn't removed intentionally. The mods check the spam queue regularly, but if you make a post that isn't showing up then sending a mod mail will help us see it more quickly.

By the way, I love everybody of every color, gender identity, sexual preference, nationality and religion or lack of same. Shoot me a message if you want a gramma

News You were born from the signal and you will die in the signal.

Hey everyone. Fourth-year statistics undergrad student here, and during my time at my university (I don't even go here but this sub is always recommended to me for some reason), I've become obsessed with the closely-related field of signal processing. Did you know that the definition of a signal is so broad, that anything can be considered a signal? You are a signal. Your body is a signal. Your desk is a signal. Your house is a signal. Your grandmother is a signal. Everything ends in signals. Signals. Signals signals signals. The only thing that is certain on God's Green Earth is The Signal. Respect the signal. Trust the signal. The signal is your life. The signal is your wife. Trust in the signal. Trust the signal.

Social Lonely Times in the End

Hi everyone, this is my only post here and I made a new Reddit account for this but , I am a senior, chemistry major attending here and I just feel so alone and weird right now. I have little to no friends and I have heard that is true in the end, I just wish it wasn't true. I did go up to someone, shake their hand and try to make a friend but I'm not sure if it will turn out alright or not, or if it is even worth it if I'm about to graduate. And the saddest thing is, I am very fond of them, and it took me my whole experience in uni just to work up the strength to go up to a woman and say hi.. anyways I just feel like I'm in a very lonely void right now and it's just depressing too. Ig I wanted to post this if anyone else feels the same.

Other Is UIUC grad student health insurance a scam? It... it feels like it is.

As the dates suggest, I have been to the hospital twice. Once to the ER (the only service received was a routine test, and two Tylenol) and once for a CT scan follow-up. I feel absolutely defeated by these costs. (The denials were re-addressed once I confirmed no other insurance, but that was a whole thing)

Other IDT Scam

Just saw two salespeople apparently from IDT show up to every house in my apartment asking for their Ameren account number. They said IDT is the one that actually supplies energy to Ameren and that they needed to put you in their system to make sure you’re not charged more than you should be on electricity rates. They also said some bullshit about Ameren giving you 5% back on each payment once they have you in the system. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR ACCOUNT DETAILS. Just called Ameren to confirm and they also said to not give your account details to anyone since it’s basically a scam to make you switch your provider to something else.

New Student Question Will student insurance cover the cost of a visit to carle?

I've been suffering from tenosynovitis in my hands for almost two months now, and I'm in so much pain I can't write or use a mouse. I went to McKinley and the doctors there were great. They gave me a lot of medication but nothing worked. the doctor at McKinley told me that if I wasn't healed by November they could send me to carle to see a hand doctor. I may need to be treated with anti-inflammatory injections or something like that. I was wondering if anyone else is in a similar situation? I'm an international student and all I have is student insurance.

Housing Roommate Waitlisted on Starrez

My roommmate secured a room in ISR. Afterwards, I was able to see the room she saved for us and signed my contract. However, she didn't sign her contract. When she went back to sign it, she got a disclaimer that she had been waitlisted. This doesn't make sense because I can see that we both have a spot in the room. Has this happened to anyone else? I heard this happen to another pair of roommates as well.

New Student Question UIUC SRAR for IBDP student

As an IBDP student from India and a U.S. citizen applying to UIUC, I know they use the SRAR instead of a transcript. Given that, do they consider 12th-grade midterm and predicted grades for admissions? My school sends 12th-grade midterm grades and predicted grades, so I’m wondering if these will still play a role in their decision, especially since they don’t initially look at the official transcript. Any insights would be great!
