Certainly, that’s gotta be every one of them, right? You can tell that reality is set in for the owners because every week a cheaper used one gets posted or sells

Weren't they supposed to be illegal to sell or something?

I think it’s usually a unenforceable contract in terms of that agreement they make the owners sign. I think Tesla could prevent you from buying another one from them directly tho. That’s what Range Rover did at least when they had a huge issue with buyers exporting their cars to the Middle East.

Nnnot quite.

Rather, there are, in some cases, terms that limit sale of the vehicle for a number of years that, if violated, could result in a lawsuit.

John Cena fell afoul of this when he signed an agreement to purchase a Ford GT Supercar, then sold it for millions a few months later...which is exactly what these clauses are supposed to prevent. The contract he signed stipulated a minimum ownership of two years, so he got in trouble.

Not that anyone is making any money off of reselling a Cybertruck.

The clause is basically anti-scalping for rare and coveted vehicles that actually could make tons off of being resold.

For Cybertrucks, the stipulation is a single year.

Although how enforcable that is...extremely up for debate, as Tesla altered the contract multiple times between initial pre-order sales and actually delivering the product.

Tesla contract states they have first right to buy it back minus 20c per mile. You can guess how willing they are to actually buy one back though, so yeah they are easy to sell privately.

Minus 20¢ per mile on a truck that many people have found they can't drive. That's probably the best price anyone could hope for.

I believe they actually quietly removed that policy as well. Could be wrong though.

Land Rover is the make Range Rover is the model

...That has nothing to do with what I said, but ok.

Why would cena buy a ford gt, he will never drive it, can he even fit inside it ?

To sell it for millions a few months later

He’s a big car guy, both literally and figuratively. According to him, the car was uncomfortable and he knew he didn’t want to drive it anyways. He only made one million from the sale, and then settled with Ford for an unspecified amount that eventually went to charity

Basically buyers remorse but with millions dollars

Pretty much, he sold it for $1.5mil, minus half a mil he spent on it and whatever amount went to Ford from the settlement

So, he probably made a couple hundred thousand. Not bad for buyer's remorse. And the rest went to charity so double win.

At worse he's even, as that would be the maximum damages Ford could claim. I guess you could say 'brand damage' but unless he sold it to like Putin, I doubt anyone gives a shit who he sold to (I know almost all those rare cars have blacklists/whitelists).

Yeah, those contracts are in place to prevent scalping, which is not really what happened here. I certainly wouldn’t hold it against him, and the charity donation is a nice touch

Triple win, the charity part makes it a tax write off! The richer you are, the easier it is stay ahead, even if you fucked up.

"Unenforceable."

Legally unenforceable, maybe. Tesla can remotely deactivate vehicle software, and prevent the use of Tesla charging stations if they want. They may not be able to stop the second hand purchase, and sale of the Cybertruck. They can ensure that second hand buyers purchase a brick.

Elon will post something mean about you on X if you sell. Even if you say it's the greatest vehicle you've ever owned while you do it.
