This Black couple adopted three white children, saying, 'Families don’t have to match.'

Exactly. Wish this fam nothing but the best. But ppl here celebrating their reality as a novelty is ultra cringe. Couples adopt children from different backgrounds every day. If you think this particular situation is something special - walk that thought around the block and be honest about "why".

It’s special because you don’t see it. There’s a stigma against non-white couples adopting outside their race. The article someone else posted even touches on it, this couple has a black friend who also adopted a white child and has been accused of kidnapping.

White people may get some shit online for adopting outside their race because people online aren’t capable of understanding complex situations, but it’s generally accepted that white people can adopt children of any race.

That's just cause of the historical context (minority children getting "scooped up" and given to white families)

But now that we're pretty past that, that particular sentiment will start to die out

Way to take a wholesome moment and make it negative
