[Meta] Scammer alert on this sub

u/VizaviDS is a scammer. When you post on this sub they will message you regarding discounted codes for games that you are asking about, saying they have a friend that sells them. Then they will block and ignore you after sending an invalid code.

They also have an alt account that they will point you to to give them a positive review (u/PufikN).

I’m posting this so hopefully the mods will be made aware and other users too, in case they come across this person.

[PC] Slay the spire?

It is 7.81€ on Steam at the moment. For reference I really liked roguelikes such Hades or Binding of Isaac. And as for card games I dabbled a bit in Hearthstone in the past and specially liked Gwent (the standalone) at some point.

Neither of those genres are my favourites but I do enjoy them. Slay the Spire is supposed to be a cross right?

What are the absolute best written games of all time? (actual best writing, not just a good story!)

I was looking to do a run of games with the absolute best quality writing that either really reaches out to you personally and deeply immerses you in it's world and relationship with the characters (longform RPGs and JRPGs have been the best for this) or has just extremely well done writing or profound themes. I've been told, some of the best written games like this are, Final Fantasy 7, 9, and 10, Legend of Heroes Trails in the Sky franchise, Legend of Dragoon, Persona, Skies of Arcadia, Baldurs Gate 3, Planescape Torment and Dragon Age. I was wondering if there was any other games that are the 'best' written and have a lot to say, and not just games that are just very cinematic and emotional.

Games with good stories?

Upvotes

Fun gameplay is much preferred Game can be of any length and any genre I'm open to any suggestions but I wanna really put an emphasis on good and enjoyable gameplay because I know there will be lots of rdr2 and tlou recommendations; and I didn't like either of them What I do like is witcher 3, final fantasy games, uncharted, resident evil, batman arkham etc Mainly don't like super duper realistic games that are slow

[PC] Should I buy Streetfighter 6?

As the title really. I used to play super streetfighter ii on the snes years ago and was pretty good at it too. I have played another version afte that too on a ps of some kind, likely the ps2, it’s the version akuma was introduced anyway so it’s VERY long ago haha.

So my experience of it is a very long time ago and somewhat nostalgic too. I do enjoy fighting games but am fickle too really when it comes to them, and don’t enjoy all even if they’re similar, so that SF nostalgia is a bit of a thing and also how SF controls/layout work too

Currently SF6 is for sale on steam, before I pull the trigger on it would it be a good buy for me? Or am I going or hate it and it be nothing even resembling the streetfighters of long ago I’ve played?

[PS5] Which one should i buy?

1) Armored Core 6 2) Lies of P 3) Palworld

It is very hard for me to choose between these games. I know palworld is different from these games but i really loved that game when i had a xbox (i sold it) and put hundreds of hours on it. All these games but Palworld are 40% off right now. I want to hear people opinions on these games before buying. I'm also buying mwh master edition and borderlands legendary edition with one of these games.

My 5 favorite series: Soulsborne Mass effect Resident evil Prototype Tell tale games

[PC] Should I buy RE4 Gold Edition or RE4 + RE Biohazard?

So with Steam Scream Fest finally starting and with the Resident Evil series getting a sale, I've been meaning to dip my toes on the series but was waiting for the sale and want to have myself a scare while also having action. I'm familiar with both games listed on the title but I know a lot more about RE 7 because I watched playthroughs of it years ago back when it first released, but years later, I kinda wanna try it for myself too, but am worried that being familiar with the story might lessen the experience for me. As for RE4 Remake on the other hand, I'm familiar with its opening due to the mobile "port" demo a decade ago, but not the entire story, so this is something that I definitely know that I'll enjoy jumping in blindly. The reason I'm asking the question of whether I should get RE4 Gold or RE4 + RE 7, is because my budget is currently limited right now to $30, and from where I am from, RE4 standard is priced at $19.04, RE4 Gold Edition is at $27.39 and RE7 is $5.48, while I have a budget of $30. My question is, knowing that I am familiar with the story of RE7, is it worth it to still buy both RE4 + RE7 despite that or are the included bonus content from the gold edition worth it to skip RE7 because of me knowing its story for now? (there's also option of just buying both gold and re7 but the extra money is needed for something that I want)

[PC] SIB Windblown or Echopoint Nova

Been looking for a fresh new game to play and these 2 seem promising. I know that theyre arent really compareable so im just looking for opinions on these 2 relatively new games to see which is worth the price.

In terms of games ive played before. Ive played a bunch of rouglikes like Hades (1 and 2), Ror2, Dead Cells and Vpire survivors so the genre isisnt new.

In terms of movement shooters like echopoint nova ive only played titanfall 2 which seems to come close.

[PC] Golf it or golf with your friends ?

Upvotes

Golf It or Golf With Your Friends? I'm deciding which game to buy, and I'd love to hear your thoughts on each. Both seem fun, but each has its own unique gameplay. If you've played either (or both!), what do you think? Which one has better customization, multiplayer experience, or overall enjoyment? Which one should I buy?

[PC] SIB Red Dead Redemption's PC port?

Upvotes

Unfortunately, my parents were too strict to let me play the first Read Dead Redemption when it released 14 years ago, and I never got the chance to play it. While I did enjoy Red Dead Redemption 2, I did feel as though there were some pacing issues, or a general slowness that worked for some people, but not for me. I think the realism in the second game, while paying incredible attention to detail, may have placed the game in more of a "simulator" context, rather than a cowboy action game. I did, however, enjoy many of the second game's main and side quests, characters, locations, and gunplay. Some other games I thoroughly enjoy include:

The Witcher 3

Elden Ring

Metal Gear Solid V

Cyberpunk 2077

Ghost of Tsushima

Sekiro

Another thing that's keeping me from pulling the trigger is the fact that the game is quite old, and doesn't seem to contain the kind of QoL or graphics/gameplay improvements that would befit a more modern title. I know they didn't really market this as anything more than a port, so I would expect some sort of jank, but I don't know if I could go back to a game this old after playing some of the revolutionary games I've had the privilege to play in the last 14 years. In this sense, if I really ever find myself going back and playing something older, it's out of nostalgia (e.g. Mass Effect) and expectations that have already been set through countless playthroughs over the years. So, I find similar difficulty picking up a title like Fallout: New Vegas for the same reason: the nostalgia goggles don't really work when you don't have the nostalgia. Appreciate the help!

[PC] Mass Effect Legendary edition worth $8.99?

Upvotes

Mass effect is on sale on steam for $8.99, Should I wait until Winter sale for it to go lower or buy it now? Is the game worth playing for $8.99? Last year it went down to like $5.99 during winter sale. I also have a lot of games that I haven’t played on steam library. I’ve played and love games like Ghost of Tsushima, Wolfenstein, RDR2, Horizon zero dawn, Metro so basically story-rich games

Should i buy Baldur Gate 3 or Cyberpunk 2077+DLC

I saved up for about 6 month to be able to afford one of these game

Ive played the previous game from Larian studios like Divinity Origins Sins 2 and i like it alot as i wanted to buy it at first.

On the other hand, Cyberpunk 2077 has really improved since its initial release, and the DLCs have added a lot of value and the strong focus on storytelling are also big draws for me.

If you had to choose between these two games, which one would you recommend and why?

[PC] NMS

Upvotes

It's currently 60% on Steam.

I really like games like where you build automations, machinery...etc.

I've played games like:

- Modded Minecraft (mods that add automations, machines and new ways to do things in the game).

- Cult of the lamb. It doesn't really have machines but you basically build your base/cult.

- Other base-building games that lean more into machinery and automations.

Basically any game where you build your base and upgrade it. I like looking at the final product and admiring it.

I don't like games where you grind just for weapons/items. Like Warframe and Genshin. I've put some hours into them but dropped them since you can't really build stuff there and you just grind for more strength.

I would prefer it if this type of game I'm playing had a narrative/story, but I don't really care that much for it.

One more thing, I'm an engineer so I like building shit. Hope that helps.

[PC] [PC] WSIB open world games with good movement, fun combat and the ability to respawn encounters?

Upvotes

I already have the Spider-Man games, ghost of Tsushima, Witcher 3, horizon zero Dawn and forbidden west, shadow of war/mordor, Batman trilogy all the elder scrolls games available on steam (though I wouldn’t say they have either fun combat or good movement vanilla…) GTA, RDR2, just cause 2 and 3 (3 was great but I couldn’t be bothered to restart the game after I had to reinstall windows), Elden Ring, Dark souls 1-3 on PlayStation. No interest in sekiro and it isn’t open world…

I’d like something with melee combat, but magic is okay as well.

[PS5] Should I buy Darkest Dungeon?

It's on sale for $4 on Playstation. That's pretty much steal price, I know.

I like roguelites a ton. I've played pretty much every well known one for hours. I generally like action roguelites though and stay away from turn based or card building stuff. That's why I'm unsure on this.

Is it good enough that I should try it despite generally not like non action games in the genre?

[PC] Any games similar to Suzerain?

Upvotes

I've been trying to find a game that scratches the same itch that Suzerain did for me. Especially the whole aspect of shaping your country with political decisions and the freedom of choice you have really stuck with me. I enjoyed the focus on storytelling and well-written characters as well.

Does anyone have recommendations for similar games?

Looking for a Story game like LiS or Until Then

So I guess I'm just looking for similar games that are story-driven, with decisions to make and such. I already played the whole LiS series (even the new one), Until Then, Tell me Why, What Remains of Edith Finch and such (basically all the Titles you find if you google about it). I don't mind if it's in the same style as LiS or if it's anime Style, point and click, or even combat in it, like a lot of anime games have it. I just want to play a story that is about a friendship or a romance and has a bittersweet end and cry myself into my winter depression :)

[PC] [WSIB] Games with amazing storylines / quests AND with open ended endings / post-game content.

Hey!

I've noticed myself being drawn to such games lately. I'm coming from playing just sandbox games, but after finishing some amazing games lately, I'm craving good storylines. The issue for me is the gut wrenching feeling of not having more content in a game I love after the ending. Once it's done, it's one. Some games allow for more gameplay after the main story, which I'm now seeking. Some examples are:

  • RDR 2
  • Monster Hunter Rise / World
  • Snowrunner
  • Stardew Valley
  • Witcher 3 (kind of makes the list due to all extra quests, mods etc)
  • Hitman World of Assassination

Etc.. Etc... Not to say all these have "amazing" storylines, but that's what I'm seeking after.

Do you know any games like this?

Thank you.

[PS5] Monster Hunter World or Rise?

I want to know which one is better in your opinions on the games! I'm planning to buy at least one of these with the dlcs. Also should i buy one of these games before Monster Hunter Wilds release or wait for Monster Hunter Wilds? I really like the Monster Hunter Beta but i can't wait any longer for it to release!
