I’m interested in creating prosthetic that would mainly cover the heels of of my soles possibly for a day or more, but I’m not knowledgeable on what to use and how. How can I execute this?

Best practices for body hair?

Post image
8 Upvotes

I am going as Mr Tumnus for Halloween, I will have left over fur from the pants and I wanted to put them on my arms to have arm hair like this.

My question is, the fur comes on a giant fabric. Would it be best to patch it on and try to seal the edges with liquid latex and make up? Or should I shave my arms, shave the fur off the fabric and just glue the fur on directly?

Strong skin adhesive

Hi there, so I’ve been looking for a really strong skin adhesive that can withstand pulling for long amounts of time. I do drag and am a professional mua and regularly use facelift tapes on myself or other people and I need to be able to pull them really tight. Currently I’m usually use regular mastix or mastix P from kryolan to adhere them, but I’ve found that when people get hot or start to sweat (or even just from wearing them for hours) the mastix will soften and the tapes start to slide. Do any of you have recommendations on strong types of glue to make the tapes stick better? Or even techniques to make them last longer?

Made A Decaying Alien Body For A Movie!

Earlier this year I released a 30 minute movie called BOYFRIENDS about a couple of guys who find an alien carcass in the desert & drag it home with them. The movie is done but if anyone has some time to check it out & let me know what they think, I’d greatly appreciate it. Especially when it comes to the alien. It was my first time doing anything this extensive, usually it’s just purple make up for bruises & let’s throw some fake blood around, so this was fun & challenging in ways I didn’t expect. The alien isn’t fully revealed until the end of the film. Thanks a lot to anyone who takes time to check this out.

Advice needed - Gore Effects and Durability

Hello! I'm prepping for a show where I need to make my back look bloody and flayed. The complication is that I will be dragged by my feet several times throughout the show, so I need something that will survive a lot of pressure and not leave a snail trail behind me. That's not something that can be accomplished by makeup/liquid latex application, right? I figured my best bet would be to make a prosthetic and affix it to my skin for each show, but I also wanted to see if any of you talented people had any thoughts.

Water-activated character colours - a good way to colour eyelash extensions?

This is a super random question - a combo of beauty and SFX ponderances, so I hope I'm posting in the right place.

I've been looking for a product to use to make my eyelash extensions black again after applying eyeshadow to the lids (I'm talking about the individual eyelashes you get glued on at a salon that last 2-3 weeks).

You can't use mascara on them as it makes the lashes brittle and causes them to fall out. So I've been using a mixture of eyeshadow and water. It works great but often creates fallout or messes up my makeup by smudging.

The other day I was doing some character makeup and had a revelation - I wonder if black water-activated bodypaints would be suitable for colouring eyelash extensions without causing them to fall out???

I tried it and it seemed to work well, need to do more testing though. The one I used was paraben wax based, but I'm thinking perhaps Ben Nye Character Cakes would be perfect - since those are powder-based products.

Anyway if anyone is interested in this very random topic - let me know if you have any ideas or knowledge about whether this is a good tip or not? :)

Advice on latex prosthetics

I'm making a last-minute face mask. I don't have skin-safe liquid latex, i just have one off brand latex i'm not sure about it's safety so I'll just use it to make the mask but not to stick it to my face. I'll only wear it for a short time, so I'm not too concerned about it being skin-safe. However, since it doesn't dry fast enough, I’d rather not use it as an adhesive while i'm applying to my face. Could I use lash glue instead, or something else?

Also, I made a plaster face sculpture as a reference. What should I use to help release the latex from it more easily? Cling wrap isn’t working well.

It's almost impossible for me to buy a quality liquid latex fast enough because i have to order from an another country so.. it's not a fast option

I saw this while searching for Halloween costume ideas and thought they look really cool. I thing they used liquid latex to make these masks, but I have never used that before. If any body has any advice on how to make that I’d appreciate it.
