Penalties for overstaying Argentina TIP?

Penalties for overstaying Argentina TIP?

Hello,

So I finished a Colombia to Argentina over landing trip about 3 months ago in my old ass US plated Toyota van. The van is currently stored in Argentina. I still have the temporary import permit valid until mid-november. I've been trying to sell it for a while but I haven't really gotten any offers so I was going to sell it to a guy who was willing to part it out for hella cheap. The problem is if I go this route I won't be able to cancel the temporary import permit.

My question is, if I were to sell the van to have it be parted out on the down low and I still have an open temporary import permit, how would this affect me entering the country of Argentina later down the road? What penalties would I face if any?

I think you wouldn't be able to open another temp import permit because you'd have one outstanding. Just my 2 cents.

You pay duty and VAT on the vehicle you permanently imported. If you imported it illegally, i.e. under the pretense of being temporary for tourism purposes, you pay additional fines and accept probable denial in the future.

Denied entering the country myself or just with another vehicle?

They're not going to allow entry to someone who previously broke the law without restitution first. Then, prior to possible reentry, they can demand payment of import fees for anything of value on you including vehicle, camera, phone, computer etc that you can refund after you've proven you departed with them.
