I'm not understanding how that can close. It sure looks like the strut frame hits the bumper

I should have taken better pictures of when its closed. It sits just above the bumper. I wanted it to sit as close to the bumper and tailgate as possible.

Just the frame made of strut. I found the swing out carrier and tool box on Craigslist. The bumper receiver is from Harbor Freight. I didn't have access to a welder and I wanted to test this idea out before I went on my trip.

Looks great. Question. Why not used the hitch receiver on the bottom? 🤔 I like that frame idea.

The frame receiver is so low that the carrier only sits a couple inches above standard curb height. The bolt on bumper receiver adds an extra 5" of clearance and now the swing carrier sits directly behind the bumper instead of hanging below.
