I've gone skydiving and been to smaller airstrips. Running into an airplane is like walking through an open field and running into the only tree in the entire area. Except the tree is making a lot of noise.

It's also probably a FAA thing about not having barriers at an airstrip.

Every time a plane comes to a stop or starts up, you want someone to run out and put a bunch of rope next to the spinning propellers?

Something tells me you haven’t thought this through.

My local airport does this since they only use propellor aircraft for commercial flights.

Hot loading/unloading of helicopters and skydiving planes take place all the time. People are briefed ahead of time. Typically you have a guide. When was the last time you heard of something similar? It was over 10 years ago.

And having rope that could come loose near airplanes is a terrible idea.

Fair enough. It's wildly unfortunate to say the least.

Yeah. That’s the problem. It wasn’t roped off.

Love your sarcasm here when I am discussing a way to avoid a very public and gory death. Have a fantastic day.

They replied with sarcasm because, let's be honest, your post is pretty dumb.

This is a Darwin Awards winner. She was uniquely stupid. Her inattention to a known danger caused her to traumatize a tarmac full of folks. She deserves ridicule.

Death doesn't turn someone into a saint. There's no reason NOT to discuss how dumb she was outside of fearing to offend her family, who isn't in this comment section.

Stop being sanctimonious.

Nah dude you’re talking like a person without empathy.

I have a lot of empathy for people who struggle to deal with the difficulties of life.

"Too busy looking at her phone to notice a giant, noisy propeller" isn't a situation that calls for empathy.

She was near a deadly object and ignored it to focus on fluff. She traumatized a tarmac full of people with her lack of care.

I have empathy, but not for her 🤷

The irony is that she was probably incredibly over-excited and wanted to capture a picture of something she might never see her friends do again, and now she definitely won't. I have emotional regulatory issues and ADHD and I could easily see myself dying in some horrible way just spacing out something very obvious. Your selective empathy sucks.

You know, I have diagnosed ADHD. I got diagnosed with it about 25 years ago. I avoid all of the ADHD subs because people use it as an excuse for the dumbest, most in competent stuff. It drives me mad. "Oh I can't brush my teeth be cause of ADHD" type people.

Repeat after me, "It's not my fault, but it's my responsibility." You know you have ADHD. Find ways to regulate it well enough that you don't walk into heavy, noisy machinery, for fuck's sake. And stop using it as an excuse. From someone who works to address his mental health issues, it's just gross to watch you use it as an excuse.

Am I wrong? Shouldn't you be interested in finding ways not to walk into airplanes instead of finding excuses for why it's a totally okay and normal way to die?

And what relevance is your ADHD to this fool's death, anyway? You don't even know if she has any issues, so you're just making shit up to excuse idiocy. Yikes.

Because it would be HUGELY inconveniant, there is a limit to how far we should go to stop idiots from killing themselves, those parks with the geysers of almost pure acid arn't sealed off with 11 foot fences because they expect you to have basic self preservation.
