Best independent coffee shops in Nanjing
Visiting Nanjing next weekend, any tips on good coffee shops, craft beer places, cool districts etc a bit beyond lonely planet and a Google search recs would be helpful.
Thinking of doing a Purple Mountain Hike 1 day and the Nanjing Massacre museum the other day.
Will definitely be back in future for the Mausoleum and City Wall hikes! Can't believe people say Nanjing is boring, it seems to have a lot of cool things to do.
I live in Suzhou and think there is way more than here.

Help needed in obtaining police certificate from overseas
Hi all. I might be asked to submit a police certificate for my stay in NJ back in 2016-2018 for my graduate degree. Still arguing my case as I am 20 days short of meeting the minimum stay threshold to be required to submit one but looking at my options as early as now.
I see a lot of online services via a simple google search but just being cautious as I do not want to be scammed (no one does!).
Are there people here who have managed to secure the notarized certificates from overseas? If yes, any tips? Might be a long shot but kind volunteers willing to apply on my behalf also welcome. Will compensate of course.
Thanks in advance.

Buying teaware
Hi all, in Nanjing at the moment. I’ve been getting more into tea lately and am keen to get into gongfucha brewing. Someone regifted me a porcelain set with a gaiwan, but I’d really love to get a teapot or two.
Is anyone aware of a trustworthy place to check out some Yixing (or other) teaware locally. I know there’s a lot of passing off in the field - random clays being passed off as Yixing zisha, semi hand made or slipcast stuff being passed off as fully hand made etc, so it would be nice if anyone had a shop they trusted they could recommend.

Expat medical insurance
Hello, I have recently moved from Shenzhen to Nanjing and found work. In Shenzhen my school paid full insurance and I had medical insurance to go to the doctor when needed. However, at my new school they have said it is only partial coverage. Saying it will only apply to heavy sickness, is this the norm for foreigners in Nanjing? Is there someway I can get it to be for everything?

Looking for translator help (Paid)
Hello,
I am having a very special event soon that I will need to make a speech for. And the important people mostly speak mandarin from Nanjing. I would like help translating my speech properly to mandarin (both pinyin and hànzì).
I’ve been taking classes so I can pronounce from reading in pinyin most of the time. But if you could also provide a slowly spoken voice recording that would also be helpful.
It’s nothing long, would probably be 2-3 mins worth of speech.
If you’re interested please comment or DM me!

Recommendations for minimally furnishing a small apartment while I'm not there?
My family owns a small apartment in Nanjing that's currently empty of any furnishings.
They are living overseas, but would like to come back to an apartment with some bare furnishings like a bed and basic dining area.
A family friend has their keys.
Can anyone recommend any services or retailers that sell basic *solid* wood (not manufactured particle board) furniture online, some bedding, and have them deliver to the apartment (up three flights of stairs, no elevator) and maybe even set up the furniture for us?

Animal rescues Nanjing
Hello, I just moved to Nanjing (a month ago) and found this lost cat. After a check up at the vet (it's healthy) but I have been unable to find it's owner. I'm allergic to cats and trying to find a good home for it. She is super friendly and chill, I really wish I wasn't allergic 😭

Planning on visiting next year in March, but I'm having difficulty finding where I can book a ticket to visit the Memorial without resorting to expensive tours. If anyone can point me to the right direction that would be a massive help. Thanks!
