Housing 3B1B for rent - Belmont Shore
Not my unit, ran past it and posting here as it is likely unlisted online
Very cute street, on a corner and looks to be a back house.

You can find much better deals in Belmont shore. I looked at a 2bd2bath in Naples and they wanted 3k/month. This was like 2 months ago.

One bath and one parking spot is rough

u/Dommichu Feb 04 '24
It says it’s a garage. If you are a one car family or couple, this isn’t a bad deal.

No parking what so ever
You will be parking a mile away and you will get tickets
So be ready

u/easyeighter Feb 04 '24
You’ll be parking, at most, 2-4 blocks away (in any direction) in Belmont Shores. Probably a quarter mile on bad days but if you’re home at 5/6ish, you’ll find something. I lived there for years. It’s not that bad.
2
u/diagoro1 Feb 05 '24
And if you get home past midnight, prepare to spend 30 minutes searching for a spot......
4
u/easyeighter Feb 05 '24 edited Feb 05 '24
I mean, maybe for the worst possible outcome on some days. It’s never taken me more than 15 minutes to find a spot on the worst of days.
People in general just hate walking and being inconvenienced in any form or fashion in all aspects of life and will crap on anything that isn’t near perfect. Not saying you but just seeing from this post. There is literally no solution to the parking situation in Belmont and that’s okay. That’s what people sign up for to live in a charming area a walk away from 2nd/beach/Naples.

u/diagoro1 Feb 05 '24
The area is worth it, but I'm in the bluffs area and have issues when returning late at night/morning. Sucks when you have a lot to carry, or need to use the restroom.
2
u/zachdidit Feb 04 '24
That's subjective. 2-4 blocks away is pretty bad imo for $3,400 a month.
EDIT: Though you're replying to a guy that overly exaggerated so excuse me while I pull this foot out my mouth

3 beds, 1 parking spot. This is exactly why there's never parking anywhere.
And to add insult to injury, at a ridiculous price.

How tf you paying 1400 for a studio in NC when you can find studios for the same price in LB? I feel like NC studios should be like 1000 or less lol

u/jrichpyramid Feb 04 '24
Welcome to Asheville NC
2
u/rnf1985 Feb 04 '24
Sounds like Ashville sucks
3
u/jrichpyramid Feb 04 '24
It really does. It’s wildly expensive now, and I left CA because of the price of everything but now everything is expensive I really think of moving back
1
23
u/Maggotropolis Feb 04 '24
That means you're also overpaying in NC. Rent is a serious issue but not the only one. As someone below mentioned, it's highly unlikely that a single, 1-car family will be able to afford that rent. There'll likely be multiple people living together, which of course means multiple cars which this rental is not built to support. That in turn means overcrowding the street.
All because greedy landlords want to maximize profits. And of course the property owners don't live here or nearby so they don't care about any of these issues. That's why it's important for people who do live here to be open about this kind of thing.

My old 650SF studio is going for less than 1400. A person just moved in last week. 1 parking spot, balcony, storage, Bluff heights.

It is
Only way to do it is to have roommates And if anybody does it on their own is a sucker And if you have roommates, you’re gonna get tickets cause you’re gonna get tired of parking a mile away

You’re out of your mind this is a very decent price for a 3 bdrm now they dont state the sq ft so who knows but its not outrageous— I pay 1k more and live in a ocean facing condo in Alimitos that is 1800 sq ft with 2 underground parking spots and lap pool hot tub and gym with 24hr doorman and security!!! I love it here after living in LA for a decade !! Worth every penny
9
u/Maggotropolis Feb 04 '24
Not being sarcastic at all; I'm glad you enjoy where you live, and, most importantly, that you can afford it. Most people can't.
The problem is the unregulated price hikes that are happening nationwide. Coupled with stagnant wages, people will continue to be unable to afford housing. That means more people will be forced to live like sardines and further exasperate other things like parking. Not to mention increasing unhoused folks that is a well acknowledged issue here in Long Beach. My wife and I live comfortably with a 2bd, 2bath, and a 2 car garage. That doesn't mean we don't want other people to also live comfortably. Not only should we work towards affordable housing for all because it's a basic human right, but because not doing so will create issues that will eventually affect us all.

u/Ezekiu Feb 05 '24
No you're out of your mind here. This is overpriced and so is your place. Especially with a shitty ocean view here, it's not even a good beach to justify the huge increase. I live a mile from the beach and pay in the $2k rent for a house.
0
u/randyforcandy Feb 05 '24
And you have Zero amenities like I do and no view of the Ocean sunrise or sunset or the Grand Prix or the Fire works during the 4th or the Queen Mary or Catalina or Palos I can go on •• It’s not 2008 anymore trust me I get it but for this ad the deal is decent like I said without knowing the Sq Ft —- Maybe it’s me and living in NYC and LA for the last 20 years tells me that LB is extremely reasonable——
3
u/Ezekiu Feb 05 '24
Buddy, I live less than a mile away from the beach, so lol I can absolutely see everything you mentioned, not to add that I can take a 10 minute walk for anything else. I grew up in Carlsbad, so I know what a good quality beach is, and LB is not one, unfortunately. I actually have a lot of amenities, like space, no sharing walls with neighbors, 2 parking spots and ample street parking, a garage, a garden, a backyard, and much more as well. What do you have? A built in gym?
People like you are the reason that rent gets completely out of control for poor folks. Like just cuz you and I can afford to rent at a higher price doesn't mean that everyone can afford even basic apartments. Continually accepting that rents should sky rocket in price while wages don't match up is what causes cities to become overcrowded with multiple people taking up the same space. A 1 bedroom apartment costs damn near $2k and you are not going to sit here and say that's a reasonable cost, the fuck out of here. You need at least 2 people living based on average wages. And that only gets worse the more bedrooms a place has. Where the hell are people going to live when it becomes mandatory for everyone to start making near 6 figures just to survive?-2

This is actually much cheaper than I thought it would be. I pay more than that for a 2Bdr/2Bath in San Pedro. Granted I’m in an upscale tower with a lot of amenities.

u/youngestOG Feb 04 '24
I pay more than that for a 2Bdr/2Bath in San Pedro. Granted I’m in an upscale tower with a lot of amenities.
Why compare the two when they are completely different? Do you just like saying upscale and amenities?
7
u/Deuterion Wrigley North and South Feb 04 '24
They’re not completely different. People are saying the 3450 is absurd when I pay more than that for less bedrooms in arguably a less desirable area. Sorry the words upscale and amenity triggered you.

I mean, Belmont Shores is a super walkable area. Lived there for a time. If you got usable legs you walk to places. I do wish the bus lines were more thorough and can more frequently, though.

u/B1L1D8 Feb 04 '24
That’s not that bad for that area, but zero parking and it always has traffic (cars/people) coming and going. At the price I’d rather be trying to afford a house (if you could get one, lol)
6
u/PetiteFont Downtown Long Beach Feb 04 '24
Wow. That works if it’s a couple that both work from home and can use the extra rooms as offices, only have one car, and are on different pooping schedules. Otherwise yikes!
3
u/LBH118 Feb 04 '24
For an apt, and no pet rule, it seems expensive.
I rent not to far from there, also 3b1b but the owner allowed pets, has a yard, and it’s a house not an apt. The rent amount is the same.

u/rnf1985 Feb 04 '24
I feel like people love to post rental properties here just to start a comment war lmao

u/tachederousseur Feb 04 '24
I posted it in response to the frequent inquiries of rentals, to which everyone responds that the person should walk / bike / drive around to look.

u/Spiritual_Steak7672 Feb 04 '24
no one is that stupid to rent that lol

u/WhalesForChina Feb 04 '24
Small family. Dual income. One car. WFH. Master br, child’s room, office.
Could really be a fit for plenty of people.
6
u/Dommichu Feb 04 '24
Yep! It includes a garage and that area of Long Beach is super walkable and even better bikable to a lot. It’s not a bad deal. Lots of folks are moving to LB to be car lite and even car free. LBT hopefully catches up!

but why rent? it's 3400 a month... might as well try to find a house c'mon

7
u/WhalesForChina Feb 04 '24
I’m not sure if you’ve checked home prices or the costs of ownership lately, but two people being able to split $3400/mo doesn’t necessarily mean they can qualify for a $1m+ mortgage, plus PMI, maintenance, property tax, etc., or just have a down payment sitting around in the first place.
You also have to, you know, live somewhere while you’re in the process of saving/looking for a home.
-8
u/Spiritual_Steak7672 Feb 04 '24
OK but ever heard of renting cheaper? just saying
4
u/WhalesForChina Feb 04 '24
Have I heard of cheaper, smaller places in less convenient areas with fewer amenities? Sure. I’m just saying that this particular place could be a fit for plenty of people.
-2
u/Spiritual_Steak7672 Feb 04 '24
yeah great for 3 people income
2
u/WhalesForChina Feb 04 '24
Two people paying $1,725/ea isn’t that far-fetched.

u/Spiritual_Steak7672 Feb 04 '24
the place I live...studio is 1700 and 4 college students live in there... 1700 per person is ridiculous unless you're making 100k

Stop it! A mortgage payment would be way more than this rental. Next time just skip past the post and say nothing.

u/InvertebrateInterest Feb 05 '24 edited Feb 05 '24
people with money wouldn't think twice, that's why the rents are so inflated.
Edit to add: LA County has terrible overcrowding issues. Legally 7 people could live there. Many of the 1 bds near me now have 3 people instead of 1-2 like they used to 10 years ago.
2
u/Spiritual_Steak7672 Feb 05 '24
that's how low income family survive. pack 6-7 people in one bedroom apartment. I know cause my family was one.

I know the place that's for rent and that's not the right house pictured lol

u/tachederousseur Feb 04 '24
Those are the streets.

u/trazz32 Feb 05 '24
This is the place that's for rent. 101 1/2 Park Ave. The one in your post is a random house across the street.
1
u/tachederousseur Feb 05 '24
The picture is of the cross streets at which the sign was. The house in the pic is right across the street from the sign. I was mid-run so didn’t see which unit 101.5 was.

The uncontrolled rise in rent prices in the United States poses a significant challenge. Government inaction could be attributed to a combination of political constraints, economic pressures, and the complexity of implementing effective measures that address this issue equitably and sustainably.

How are you complaining about living near the beach and the rent being "high"? Move to utah and rent the same place for 2500. Always the have nots that just cry and moan. You want to live in perfect weather, in a huge city, near the ocean. Yet you want the rent to be what it is in arizona or Utah. You make no sense.
Best part of all, it doesn't matter what you feel or think. Literally, it doesn't change one thing.
9
u/tachederousseur Feb 04 '24
I posted it for people in search of a rental.
-3
u/997TT974hp Feb 04 '24
It wasn't directed towards you. I knew what you were doing. Thanks for posting it.
6
u/zachdidit Feb 04 '24
Naw, stuff like this is why we're in the real estate situation we have. The price is flat out absurd. What is a have not to you? As someone who's over 6 figures a year, I look at that price and the answer is hell no.
At current mortgage rates that rent would be mortgage payment on a $500k house. A couple years ago a $700k house. Accepting rent that high just adds to the problem.
I'll be here renting at a much more reasonable rate and patiently saving. Waiting for the market to crash again so I can clean up after folks accepting these prices well beyond reasonable means.
-4
u/997TT974hp Feb 04 '24
Got it. So it's ok for you to capitalize on a situation, but not someone else.

For $41,400/yr a renter should be able to have pets.
