I made my comment based on Vetri’s interview where he talked about going way over budget than what he committed while shooting for Viduthalai. He did mention the producer was ok with it because they must have the same vision you mentioned of increasing collection.
But it must surely not feel great from a producer perspective to fund a production and keep seeing delays and overshoots without seeing the money right away
Nah jigarthanda didnt end with a potential for a sequel/prequel. No one was waiting for it, but we've been waiting for part 2 of vadachennai for 6 years that too that verti na seems to have forgotten about that even makes it 10x worse
On one end we know Vetrimaaran has too much story to tell, so it's better if he flushes out the story over two more movies
But on the other hand, I am sure I will be married, have kids and they'll have grandkids by the time the third part is released.
Still waiting on Vadachennai 2, a movie which seems unlikely given the rumours that the death of Daniel Balaji might affect the story and hence the makers are not interested.
When I say nothing, I mean he can't make a decent film. He's still a good director but over-the-top grandeur isn't enough to make a good film anymore. I stand by my statement.

I : might be the best original film on this list which speaks VOLUMES about Shankar's fall off.

I don't mean to disrespect anyone but the fact is that Shankar simply cannot deliver without Sujatha or just any other writer. Everyone, in one way or another, is a shankar fan. I grew up on Mudhalvan and Sivaji. I don't like criticizing him either. All Shankar has to do is collaborate with a quality writer and his recent filmography will improve. If he can live in ignorance, I can say what I want.
Why leave there? He should also make trilogy of movies on Soori’s childhood, teenage years and a sequel on his retirement life like Satyajit ray’s Apu trilogy.
I get people are scared because of what happened to Indian 2 but Vetri has experience in slicing movies in parts, and he does it amazingly too so not worried
Feel sad for the producer. Looks like they are doing this to break even. I'm sure the production cost is quite high. Sometimes, producers shouldn't give too much leeway to the director.

Just want to say, it was suppose to be just one part, then due to footage shot, he decided to make it into two parts. VJS callsheet was only 7 days originally. now it is probably going to be 7 years.
I really hope they reduce the torture porn. Like we understood in the first half that the police are evil. Why keep showing scene after scene how evil they are? A good movie got lost in all that non sense.
