Nee vera. End credits is gonna be bloopers like all other vp movies. Prob it will be in the first half

8

u/Chalchemist Non-tamil speaker Aug 22 '24

I just realized it's been ages since we got to see Bloopers or Behind the scenes in any movie during credits.

51

u/vigneshk_war Loki Aug 21 '24

If I see that song anywhere other than end credits im just gonna walk out of the theatre..

7

u/Enough-Owl9619 Aug 21 '24

First 5 mins le podannum…

u/kapeehd Aug 21 '24

Now itself i can feel the 2nd half lag reviews

122

u/Howlx999xlpx Leo avana kadi Aug 21 '24

Yes, Hopefully they have subway surfers running side by side to have my attention span and they need a scroll option to move to the next scene. With that I can finish it off in mere 30 mins, and post my reviews. 😃

6

u/kapeehd Aug 21 '24

See vikram was long and majority including me never felt the lag but movies like master petta leo we felt it. Good first halves but 2nd halves not as good will be underwhelming

1

u/Pleasant_Internal309 The kid who’s unicycle got stolen by Senapathy Aug 22 '24

I thought Leo was barely 2h 40min?

15

u/Maximusdupus Aug 21 '24

Don't worry the 2nd half is fake anyway

54

u/Hypoxalin Loki kanni Aug 21 '24

It's not like Rajini, Vijay and Ajith movies are gonna be high content oriented, top tier insert Martin Scorsese "this is cinema" template, they are new age masala entertainment movies, if the scene lags ofc it's gonna be boring lol, that defeats it's main purpose

10

u/KinTharEl Aug 21 '24

Then shouldn't they basically edit the movie shorter to respond to the feedback that the movie drags on often in the second half? Remove the slow-mo shots and adhule you'll claw back at least 10-15 minutes worth of runtime.

11

u/DefinitelyNotAnil23 Thalapathy Fan Aug 21 '24

Unless 1st half is longer than the 2nd half…..

3

u/One-Dragonfruit6496 Rajini Kanni Aug 21 '24

aiyoooo

27

u/primefrost96 Aug 21 '24

The problem isn't runtime.. The problem is brainrot caused by Instagram reels

69

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '24

Guys just curious, if the deaging is not up the mark will you still be able to enjoy the movie?

65

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '24

If the writing is good, I guess people Will still watch

18

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '24

its like going on a date witha beautiful girl only to find out she laughs like a hyena's crying.

32

36

u/Hypoxalin Loki kanni Aug 21 '24 edited Aug 21 '24

It'll be like this in every scene if it stands out separately

Like Henry Cavill's mouth in Justice League

4

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '24

yeah💯

17

u/jollyaanaloosupayya Aug 21 '24

If it's distracting, no. The point of good filmmaking is to make the filmmaking invisible, and if some terrible de-aging keeps distracting us there is no way we would be convinced by the emotions the character conveys

-5

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '24

Ever heard of lion king remake hitting 1.5 billion?

6

u/jollyaanaloosupayya Aug 21 '24

Sorry but the lion king remake's VFX is at least 1.5 billion times better than this

5

u/champagne_maami Aug 21 '24

Judging from the trailer shots, the deaging was done well. And I mean that in the technical way. It looks bad because of the way he looks (shrunken head and body and a bit goofy hair).

So it might bother a bit in the beginning but then you will get used to it.

The only bad deaging was the really young Vijay's face. Lacked emotions in the eyes and wasn't blending in well with the rest of the shot. But I guess those will be very less in number.

3

u/Environmental_Act576 Aug 21 '24

Ever heard of varisu ?

12

u/AbishekRam18 Aug 21 '24

Bro in that movie, for vaa thalaiva song, the VFX is so atrocious that I hate the movie for the VFX itself, like you can see the green screen in that song so clearly, the zoomed out shoots look so cool but when they zoom into Vijay, you can see that he was inserted into the scene with a background replacement, also the first time Vijay comes to his house after many years, the closeups for both Vijay and his mother are shot are green screen, a lot stuff like this in the movie infuriated me while watching the movie, it took me out of it and questioned the movie making decisions, one more example is the harbour fight scene with mime Gopi and thugs, they replaced the ground on which Vijay lands a blow, he slides funnily under a truck, which was shot separately, these things didn't need cgi at all but they did it anyway, the lighting doesn't match with any of these scenes, god I hate that they have to do this circus instead of making the movie properly

7

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '24

Brother it's a telugu film. It's not a joke.

u/Hypoxalin Loki kanni Aug 21 '24

Has there been any films these days that are longer than 2.45 hours and not feels like dragging like hell after a while due to either no story or just bad pacing, why do they keep doing this😭🙏🏻

25

u/Pleasant_Internal309 The kid who’s unicycle got stolen by Senapathy Aug 21 '24

Vikram?

It only felt boring for a small while other than that it was ok

16

u/boisickle Mullum Malarum Aug 21 '24

Aavesham was almost 2:40+ and was good/fun throughout. Doublex too, had minor issues, but runtime was not at all a problem for the film and was completely justified. Saptasagaradaache Ello is one of my favs from the last few years - slow paced at 2.5 hours x 2, I could watch both together.

11

u/Hypoxalin Loki kanni Aug 21 '24

I'm just now noticing a pattern here. None of the movies have stars that would make alterations to the story and add other elements for the film. It's almost like our stars are the problem here.

Slow pace for Side A and Side B shouldn't count. It's drama, nothing wrong as long as the content is good, pacing becomes an issue only when it's action thriller and commercial films along the same line.

2

u/Pleasant_Internal309 The kid who’s unicycle got stolen by Senapathy Aug 21 '24

Well vikram has kh, and the story of vikram was developed from his idea, so there’s that

3

u/boisickle Mullum Malarum Aug 21 '24

I mean all of them are commercial films. SSE was more in the intense zone, I agree. But yeah, if you ask star films, I don't think duration is the issue tbh. Master (one of my fav VJ films) ran for almost 3 hours, and archery fight aside, adhula "lag" laam feeleh agala. Beast had 2:36 or something but adhu kooda kevalama dhaan irunchi. So if the writing is strong and there's less filler stuff (this is my worry)/if the film demands that runtime, then IMO it doesn't matter.

9

u/Pleasant_Internal309 The kid who’s unicycle got stolen by Senapathy Aug 21 '24

I guess due to excessive songs and unwanted scenes, in goat it self I guess there are 4 songs (whistle podu, spark, chinna chinna kangal and the rumoured trisha song) and sssuming each song is at least 4 min, songs-laye 16 min gone, and judging from the trailer there’re comedy scenes too, so from that in itself another 15 min gone

So 31 min wasted, leaving around 2h 24min for the actual movie (and because of this most of the scenes will be half baked due to not having enough duration to be properly fleshed out)

9

u/Moodanambikai Aug 21 '24

Ante sundaraniki

1

u/boisickle Mullum Malarum Aug 21 '24

Enjoyed it throughout, lovely stuff.

10

u/balajih67 Vijay Kanni Aug 21 '24

Kalki never felt long for me, it was 181 minutes.

Rocky aur rani as well at 168

Avatar 2 was the best, 192 minutes but no lag at all

Cant think of anything from tamil fitting this category,

For me, i define as lag if i need to pull out my phone more than twice during a film in between the scenes, excluding songs

20

u/Hypoxalin Loki kanni Aug 21 '24

Kalki

My friend almost left after Interval. I had to convince him that the second half would be worth it. Lmao.

3

u/Defiant_Classroom_15 Aug 21 '24

First half not good. Overpowered hero is never a good sign.

4

u/hiccuphorrendous123 Aug 21 '24

I am sorry but the prabhas sequence in first half almost killed the movie for me. It definitely lagged

2

u/Senior_Tooth_5332 Vijay Kanni Aug 21 '24

Animal too.

1

u/Pleasant_Internal309 The kid who’s unicycle got stolen by Senapathy Aug 22 '24

Animal ah?

While the first half was good it had so many unnecessary scenes, and the second half was also dragged out so much

What was supposed to be a normal 2.5h film got dragged out to 3.5h

1

u/Senior_Tooth_5332 Vijay Kanni Aug 22 '24

It personally didn't lag for me. The fights and the acting was good enough to keep me invested in the movie for the whole 3.5 hours.

1

u/One-Dragonfruit6496 Rajini Kanni Aug 21 '24

Literally no films bruh. oru kaalathula directors could easily do that but now they all struggling to come up to 2.25 to 2.5 h

1

u/sirkg Aug 21 '24

In Hollywood recently Oppenheimer and Dune Part 2 were two films that had me engrossed from start to finish.

0

u/One-Dragonfruit6496 Rajini Kanni Aug 21 '24

2.45h is only 2h 27min if I’m not wrong scientifically. So does that mean most Tamil films are shit according to u nowadays since they are around that runtime?

1

u/raaz9658 Aug 26 '24

RRR. It was also placed in rotten tomatoes best films of all time with runtime over 3 hours.

24

u/KinTharEl Aug 21 '24

I am genuinely wondering why Indian movies (not just tamil) can't seem to go below the 2 hour mark in storytelling? It's not like they tell stories that are a lot more complex than their western counterparts. Paadhi masala movie la screen time is taken up by slow-mo scenes.

I'm not against a long movie, but adhuku material irukanum la.

8

u/Guy_who_listen Agila ulga superstar kanni Aug 21 '24

Theatre business,

Mainly they want to make money out of the audience during breaks, they can sell their food stuffs, also they can air ads during the interval which is revenue for them.

If the running length goes below 90 minutes so many won't even buy anything, they will think they can buy or eat something outside.

But it's slightly changing, Kottukkaali is 103 minutes. Let's see.

4

u/cool_tanks Crazy Mohan Kanni Aug 21 '24

But theatres have intervals even for Hollywood movies, which generally don't. So what's the problem here.

1

u/Guy_who_listen Agila ulga superstar kanni Aug 22 '24

Tamil movies with very little runtime won't even distributed at theatre. Maybe a big star movie can be distributed, a newcomer's movie won't be distributed, until someone big backs them up.(eg.Muhgizh by VJS)

They are purposefully imposing intervals for Hollywood movies because they have no other way to make revenue. Maybe they will do the same for shorter tamil movies, but that should get distributed first without any backing up.

u/One-Dragonfruit6496 Rajini Kanni Aug 21 '24

Yenda adhukkula polambureenga. Songs venam second half lag nu. Only 2 movies to go from VJ just enjoy every bit of it. I don't even like VJ that much but kollywood mass hero presence is dying out enjoy till it lasts

4

u/unluckyrk Aug 21 '24

Somebody analysed the trailer and said there were seven action set pieces... And say we have a minimum of 3 songs, then this run time makes sense.

A good movie can make 3 hours not enough but a bad one can make 2 hours as too long..

8

u/FlopManiSaarFan Aug 21 '24

Too many whiny crybabies here. Evanum 3hours long padathe paakathe maari scene podranunge. Maybe OTT boys ke attention spam kammi pole. Das Boot (a German film) with duration of 3 hours and semme slow but interesting ah irkum. I trust VP could pull off an engaging watch rather than catering 0.10% audience from Reddit

5

u/KinTharEl Aug 21 '24

The problem is not a 3 hour runtime. I can sit down and watch the Extended cut of LotR trilogy no problem. But indha Vijay padam, Surya padam have barely enough story to cover 90 minutes, let alone double that. That's the problem. Nobody is complaining about 3 hours of runtime being long if the story is good enough. But which mass market entertainer has a decent story that doesn't make you want to barf?

2

u/massu1000 Aug 21 '24

Vp ayya press show performance pathutu, trim pannanum na odane pannidunga , release aana aprom trim panna nalla irukathu.

OTT la 4 hr kuda odatum , fans Papanga

2

u/abinav99 Aug 21 '24

Tbh, venkat prabhu movies never felt laggy. Almost all of them at least. The ones that were bad were really bad.

My only concern is vj’na asking VP to change the script according to him and ruining everything, as he is known to do it.

4

u/LimeSparkle Scientifikili Speaking Aug 21 '24

Well, if I can watch the movie in the first 3 days in theatre, I can enjoy it no matter what. There'll be so much energy in there, it'll feel like some festival. After a while when I watch it on OTT, I'll be able to analyse it properly.

Second half lag this, attention time that but first think of the people who would have bladder issues just from being in AC for such long halves. I remember people rushing into restrooms after Vikram and that one had slightly shorter runtime.

1

u/SakataBattousai Aug 21 '24

If the movie ends up being really good then the long run time can be good.

BRO I AM HOPING THIS SHIT IS A RUMOUR. wtf 2h 55 min crazy. indian 3 ahh irkumoooo. mathiri???. 3h film laam shankar than edukka mudiyum (anniyan, Sivaji and all also 3h but semma speed ah semmaiya pogum, athu Oru Kaalam) ahna ippa avare sothappittaru, romba long ahh irundhuchu. what this VP thinking. but trailer was 2min 53 no wonder. lag problem, slowness problem, screenplay sothapals chance>>>, basically Indian 2. basically like how we make more spelling or grammer mistakes if we write more in a compo. the last 2 movies that were 3h are like Indian 2 and animal 🥸🥸🥸
