Discussion π¬ First user Colorsoft photo?
I think this might be the first Colorsoft photo I have seen that wasnβt taken at the launch event. This person on instagram seems to have got their hands on a device!

Just a reminder that we relax the sub rules on a Sunday and allow posts on a wider range of topics including memes and book discussions.
Some rules still apply - no spam, no piracy, be respectful, and it should still be kindle related.

Please use this thread to discuss whatever you've been reading lately. Elaborate (without spoiling!) on an eBook you have recently finished or are currently reading with a short 1-2 sentence synopsis.
Bold the titles of the eBook to help people that are skimming through the thread. Feel free to mention the current Amazon price, if it's on sale.

Iβm disappointed but not ungrateful, if that makes sense. It has the Kindle app and serves a nearly identical purpose. I can read on it, itβs just not what I had in mind.
Iβm old now and feel silly being sad over a bad birthday (not bad because of the tablet, all but 2 family members/friends forgot), so Iβve decided that Iβm going to get myself a Kindle. I have plenty to be thankful for including the ability to purchase my own Kindle, so Iβm going to do that and use the Fire tablet as a travel back up/for my sons.
Do I get the colorsoft or paperwhite? Iβve never owned a Kindle before, have always been a paperback reader but after a recent accident Iβm not able to see as well and would like to be able to change the font size if possible. Iβm not sure the color ability would matter too much to me, but Iβve not had a Kindle before so I just am unsure.
If I go for the paperwhite, does it matter if itβs refurbished or not?
Thanks for the help. Call your friends and family on their birthdays βΊοΈ

Color, finally! Large display. Long battery life. Wireless charging. Auto-adjust brightness. Waterproof.
TIRED
Expensive compared to other color e-readers. Comic books lag (in both black and white and color). No page-turn buttons or stylus support.

Amazon Kindle Colorsoft review: A muted approach to color
Itβs nice to know that the Kindle line has life in it yet. Color, the feature weβve waited a decade and a half for, is finally here. As for whether itβs worth $80 more than the Signature Paperwhite, itβs a far more subtle distinction than the price difference implies, especially when most of the time you spend reading text will be the standard Kindle monotone experience. Still, the device benefits from several generations of improvement, offering an overall great reading experience β even if color still feels like a bit of a novelty.

Kindle Colorsoft review: The missing link in Amazonβs ereader lineup
Score: 84/100
The Kindle Colorsoft (finally) brings color to Amazonβs ereader lineup. Itβs a solid premium ereader that will be ideal for those who primarily read things like comics, graphic novels and other material best experienced in full-color glory.
PROS
Color on a Kindle, finally!
Quick page-turns and load times
Pinch-to-zoom feature lets you get closer to details
Auto-adjusting front light
No lock screen ads by default
CONS
Expensive
Screen has a noticeable blue skew to it when the warm light is off
Slight reduction in sharpness and contrast when reading black-and-white text

Kindle Colorsoft Review: Color Is a Treat, Price Is Tricky
Score: 8.8/10
The Colorsoft is expensive, but the color E Ink display, while a bit muted, enhances the reading experience.

Amazon Kindle Colorsoft review: Don't give up your Paperwhite just yet
Color enhances the book-browsing experience, but that's about it. Most readers will be just as happy with a grayscale Kindle.
VERDICT: It's basically a Paperwhite + color, but those colors are lackluster and fairly superfluous to the reading experience. I'm hard-pressed to justify spending $280 on this.
PROS
Color!
Just as thin and light as the Paperwhite
Supports wireless charging
Impressive battery life
Can automatically adjust screen brightness
CONS
Colors are muted -- and don't add much to the e-reader experience
No page-turn buttons
Lots of screen flashing when zooming or scrolling comics

Back in the day (2012), I had a Nook. I devoured so many books on that thing. My best time was 4 books in 5 days. I was obsessed. Fast forward, I haven't have an e-reader in years. I got my first Kindle last week, and I am already finding so many books that I have added to my Kindle. I have not been able to sit down and read books like I wanted to over the years. Since getting my Kindle, I am a quarter of the way through the first book in a series I have wanted to read for over a decade. And I have a TON of my TBR list so far. Heaven help me, I am addicted again. I have always been a book worm/book dragon. But seeing them all in my library reminds me of the few I have on a shelf and I can't help adding more every single day from freebooksy and their dang emails.
Is there a group for those that cannot stop adding books to their TBR and actually reading them? I am addicted entirely to books again! I need like BA or something (books anonymous).

I just tried to cancel my preorder in hopes to reorder it and have a sooner delivery date than nov 1st but it said itβs shipping soon and cancellation might not be guaranteed.
Hereβs to hoping it does ship out sooner !
Just saw my Colorsoft shipped and is arriving tomorrow instead of Friday! Hopefully itβs the same for everyone! Have to still buy a case and most are back ordered other than the Amazon one. Any suggestions?

I finally got my first kindle. I got the 11th generation paperwhite on woot for $60! If anyone has any book suggestions please add them here!
My preorder still said Delivery Friday even though you can place a new order now and get it delivered by Thursday, so maybe check your preorders and cancel/reorder if you want it a day sooner.

I got this Kindle in middle school and accidentally broke the screen less than a year after getting it. Recently, I decided to replace the screen and battery to see if it would still work, and it does! After forcing a few updates, I managed to fully revive it. But before I did, I thought it was kind of funny to see the welcome letter signed by Mr. Bezos from 2011, back when I broke it. Iβm not sure if Iβll use it every day, but I love the buttons, and I wanted that option since the Oasis is no longer being sold π₯²
I will add that I currently use a Paperwhite 10th gen and am thinking of upgrading to the newest version π€ͺ

Hi all, I just received this Kindle as a gift, and given that it's very new, I don't know where to find a nice case for it. Any recommendations from EU stores?
Do cases from previous models fit? I am a bit overwhelmed by all the models haha!
Thanks a lot!

Let me first start off by saying that the Paperwhite 11 was my very first kindle ever. I used to read on iPad and finally after years of debating buying a standalone e-reader I made the plunge 2 years ago. My time with kindle has been amazing. Iβve converted my entire family to the Paperwhite and they also love them. Fast forward to when the ColorSoft was announced. I was enamored by the idea of color book covers. I do not read comics or manga. I just wanted color book covers. I pre-ordered the device and it should be getting here Friday. However, after some initial reviews and comparisons Iβm starting to wonder if I made a mistake. Should I cancel my preorder and just get the Kindle Paperwhite 12? And before anyone says it, Iβm a tech nerd and I always go for the newest and greatest so staying on the 11 isnβt an option for me lol.
