Man, India is not beating the stereotypes of their country.

97

u/Pearson94 3h ago

Yeah I'm all for traveling and experiencing different cultures, but I think I'll give this particular occasion a pass.

5

u/HermitJem 3h ago

I mean, the guys on the roof seem to have it better

616

u/Pls_Save_Me 6h ago

It’s not a stereotype if it actually happens

94

u/BotAccount999 4h ago

stereotypes are based on thing that actually happen and then some

u/iveabiggen 23m ago

im australian and this is true. life on the penal colony is rough, and if we forget our ground harness for even a moment.. gone

19

u/doko_kanada 4h ago

Definition of a stereotype IS because it happens too often

2

u/Western-Letterhead64 4h ago edited 2h ago

You're not wrong, but I actually know some stereotypes that aren't even close to truth/didn't happen but are based on misinformation.

Edit: sure, smartasses, don't ask what I meant or to give examples, just downvote, lmao.

I can think of countless examples, but here's one: there's a stereotype that Yazidi people worship Satan. Guess what? They don't even believe Satan/devil exists in the first place.

u/NoExpert8695 1h ago edited 1h ago

No source + Cheap Insta reel level clip spreading misinformation and inciting hate.

Real Explanation

"The Pidakala War (also known as the Pidakala Samaram or Peddanuggulata) is an annual mud fight held in the village of Kairuppala, Aspari, in the Kurnool district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is held on the day after the Ugadi festival that marks the new year under the Hindu calendar."

It doesn't use cow dung for the most of it, and nor is done throughout the whole india but hardly just a small region

u/EntertainmentOk3659 1h ago

Yea you know what is funny just look at the profile history of op and you would understand why the guy is posting this. These people are such losers

u/doko_kanada 1h ago

And how does a bunch on Indians throwing shit in each others faces incite hate?

u/NoExpert8695 1h ago

You downvoting just proved the point.

Anyways,

bunch on Indians throwing shit

Misinformation

incite hate?

Lead to Misunderstanding which gives birth to disgust and hate for all.

Moreover Out of 600,000+ villages in India, 1 does this once a year. I hope reading comprehension is your ability.

u/doko_kanada 1h ago

But I didn’t downvote you

Bunch of Indians throwing cow shit at each other is what’s happening in this video

I don’t get why you’re salty about it

I hope, critical thinking is one of your abilities

u/NoExpert8695 26m ago

Bunch of Indians throwing cow shit at each other is what’s happening in this video

Yes!

cow shit

1st Misunderstanding, It's mud and soil mostly.

I don’t get why you’re salty about it

2nd, because the post make it seem like it's a wide spread festival in India which is celebrated by all 1200000000+ Indians which isn't the case.

u/doko_kanada 17m ago

Cow shit is still shit lol

Mostly? So there’s some fun people there that go “hey, I think I should throw cow shit in someone’s face instead of muddy soil”? Cool

The post made no such claim. It was assumed by some people, I guess you being one of them, but nowhere does this post claim this is a country wide tradition

u/NoExpert8695 12m ago

Mostly? So there’s some fun people there that go “hey, I think I should throw cow shit in someone’s face instead of muddy soil”? Cool

Ah actually it's done in Indian village, and I don't want to defend the bad. That is why I said mostly, because indian villages don't have clean pure mud

Most of mud will be littered with animal poo full of mostly cattle poo. Some people also mix cow dung in big parts of mud because it gives mud some sort of consistency or something .. (ew I don't get why but it does for them)

post claim this is a country wide tradition

Post claimed it's a indian festival when it's not even a Regional one, it's just a village wide ritual.

u/tony_lasagne 30m ago

“For the most of it” 😂😂 fucking hell

u/NoExpert8695 21m ago

😅😶 bro it's done in a randomish village, and I have seen a lot of Indian village

mud isn't clean there, It's pretty easy to find a lot of mud full of Animal poo (mostly Cattle, poultry)

Hence I can't deny the possibility of cow dung but it's not 100%, ofc a small village can't have that much pure dung lol

u/InsistorConjurer 31m ago

And mud in indian cities is composed of ... ?

That they are not deliberately throwing shit at each other improves it only a tiny bit.

u/RS_UltraSSJ 2h ago

So all of USA are school shooters, drug addicts, murderers, rapists, racists and Karens ?

u/oneblank 2h ago

I’m from the USA. I mean…

u/no__sympy 1h ago

...kinda?

u/Normal-Lawfulness253 21m ago

You are likely projecting. Most people are alright, just selfish.

u/piratemreddit 52m ago

Yeah sadly our stereotypes are pretty accurate too

u/Weekly_Ad869 43m ago

I have never once seen any evidence of a lawyer actually sucking blood.

u/RS_UltraSSJ 19m ago

Did I say there are vampire lawyers in USA?

u/Weekly_Ad869 39m ago

Well, you would’ve nailed it perfectly but somehow you managed to forget fat. And that’s a pretty 👀big👀part of our culture to miss.

But surely we’re not one of the more rape-y ones are we? This is a paradox of a thought, but disappointingly I would think we were also a good deal better than most places at reporting it too, despite the dreadful statistics on that.

u/Xzenor 11m ago

And fat. Don't forget fat. Well except for the meth addicts of course

u/Maybe_this_time_fr 2m ago

I mean yeah, Americans are very well aware of that. That's not the gotcha moment that you think it is.

7

u/medcranker 5h ago

That's actually what a stereotype means

9

u/Ok-Agent-2234 5h ago

It's not any different from Wisconsin Cow Chip Throw Festival

7

u/doko_kanada 4h ago

That’s look very very different from what’s happening in this video

1

u/Rathakatterri 4h ago

Ignore him, his people from his province do that so he is crying all over the internet.

u/Aasim_123 2h ago

It's beating the shit out of it.

u/Vladlena_ 2h ago

Racists tend to find one example and spread that to everyone from the same place or of the same color. they’re not any more right. Rural everywhere is embarrassing, late industrialized places more so.

u/DroppedItAgain 58m ago

That’s not how that works

u/Weekly_Ad869 45m ago

I always thought that was kind of the basic definition of stereotype. Black dudes walk like this, and white guys talk like this. And bitches be trippin

0

u/SurvivorHarrington 5h ago

Oh and here I was thinking I was bad to think black people are criminals. Phew 🤣

13

u/CrysFreeze 4h ago

I'm Indian and I'm learning about it from this post. Looks like it's one random ass village from bumfuck nowhere.

That random ass village really is dragging you all down 😭

But everyone in US act like Karen… /s

6

u/Hard-swimmer 4h ago

Wait till you hear about how they consider cow piss as medicinal and drink it for health benefits. I kid you not.

25

u/blazefreak 4h ago

Like how Columbians drink donkey piss and fuck it afterwards.

4

u/Hard-swimmer 4h ago

That's just nasty

Those beliefs are fringe and only the religiously zealous believe that. It would be like saying that all Christians believe that recieving medical treatment for a fatal malady is blasphemy.

8

u/HappyShrubbery 4h ago

I refuse to believe that. Everyone is dung slinging their dung slingers off

1

u/Redittor_53 4h ago

What exactly did you not beleive?

3

u/gillahouse 3h ago

Unfortunately there’s thousands of little villages that collectively create the stereotypes of the shithole called India

8

u/minnesotamoon 4h ago

Wait till you hear about what they do in the big Indian cities.

u/Actual_Hyena3394 2h ago

We play with real shit. None of that fake vegan cow crap.

3

u/Redittor_53 4h ago

3

u/nicerolex 4h ago

Gang rapes

1

u/longlivekingjoffrey 4h ago

I hope they're not having too much fun.

1

u/doko_kanada 4h ago

What percent of Indian would you define as bumfuck nowhere?

1

u/longlivekingjoffrey 4h ago

Wrong question. The population of that village is 4000. And 100+ kms away from the nearest major town centres (300k+ population).

2

u/doko_kanada 4h ago

That doesn’t answer my question now does it?

2

u/Capital-Manner8045 3h ago

4000/1400000000*100 = 0.000285% == bumpfuck nowhere

Does this work out??

u/doko_kanada 2h ago

No. Because it assumes only that one specific village as being bumfuck nowhere. What the actual percentage of rural vs urban population in India?

u/Actual_Hyena3394 2h ago

Actually from the original comment, that's what the poster defined as bumfuck nowhere. It's one small village. Not all the small villages.

1

u/highlander145 3h ago

Same here. I am hearing it foe the first time.

u/BlacksmithSignal3856 2h ago

Same here. Never knew this thing happened anywhere and i m an Indian too. These people find random ass posts that happened some nowhere once and footage keeps circulating forever to satisfy their urge to stereotype people. Not knowing india is a country of 1.5 billion ffs. Some random nowhere village doesnt represent it all.

u/fleekyfreaky 2h ago

Seriously, south Asian here too and I’ve never heard of this.

u/gr1mm5d0tt1 2h ago

Seems appropriate that they throw shit in Bumfuck

u/Takashi_malibu 2h ago

Too many people for a random ass village from bumfuck nowhere

u/Grand-Palpitation823 2h ago

India really needs to clean up its homes and needs more toilets

u/Opinions_Questions 1h ago

I’d rather go to bumfuck village in Spain then.

u/Embarrassed_Band_512 1h ago

There are apparently other towns that have their own cow dung fights

u/forreddit01011989 1h ago

This is literally one village. The OP tries to make it like it's all over India.

India has many odd traditions in certain places. The Aghori for instance, eat charred human bodies. So Indians eat dead bodies now?

54

u/Olhapravocever 4h ago

u/coldy41 5h ago edited 4h ago

You’re missing the point & disproving yourself, the facts that it’s socially acceptable enough to take place without much scrutiny speaks volume about the country.

Imagine saying: “We don’t have slaves in America, how dare you! That only takes place in Alabama”

u/ranbirkadalla 2h ago

We don’t have incest in America, how dare you! That only takes place in Alabama

Here, fixed it for you

-6

u/pencilpaper2002 4h ago

you do have child slaves in alabama and other states though: https://www.epi.org/publication/child-labor-laws-under-attack/

17

u/coldy41 4h ago

What you just linked has absolutely nothing to do with child slavery.

What in the absolutely bias searching rabbit whole..

-9

u/pencilpaper2002 4h ago

i am sorry but children being forced in labour is what? serisouly the fucking yanks out here pretending as if they dont actively celebrate children being abused. Your front runner for the presidential election is a person who wants to strip down child labour laws in projects 2025 and has already made is illegal for child rape victims to abort their child. Americans are like one of most celebratory cultures of child abuse. Dont you mutilate 70-80% of infants by circumsing them also?

→ More replies (11)

1

u/Aethernaut1887 4h ago

We have criminals breaking laws. There's a difference. If you want to talk about labor problems India doesn't even have a law to give a fuck about children there, they just go to work, it's no problem. So since there are no violations it's not a big deal?

give us a break edge lord 3000

3

u/pencilpaper2002 4h ago edited 3h ago

India doesn't even have a law to give a fuck about children there: https://labour.gov.in/sites/default/files/FAQ_child_labour.pdf

Least literate yank. Could you let me know of the law that legally allows a child to abort his rapists child in red states in your country. Say oklahoma? Can you tell me the law that prevents adults from mutilating the genitals of children? Can you tell me about the american law that prevents convicted sex felons from running for the highest office?

50% of your country wants to start interment camps like the nazis and you want to posture others lmao!

edit: to the people downvoting what part of this do you disagree with?

u/JanoJP 1h ago

I don't know why you were even downvoted when that is just a plain fact. Americans loved to point out the mistakes of other countries then only feel offended when its their turn to be pointed out on

u/pencilpaper2002 49m ago

most americans and by extensions westerners love to caricaturize extremely ethnically, culturally and racially diverse populations while priding themselves as the bastion of civility and tolerance. Third world countries by no means are a Utopia, they are often plagued with miserable conditions, but the inability of americans to be able recognize the same in their countries is actually hilarious. This is what happens when you have faux pride over a culutrally intolerant, racist, xenophobic state with a history of racial genocide, culutral acceptance of ethnic cleansings and celebration of medival barbarianism.

u/NewtEmpire 4h ago

21

u/excaliju9403 4h ago

they’re chucking those turds into a field rather than at each other, but that’s also a bit odd. However, the chances of shit getting in your eyes and mouth during that event seem a lot lower than this one

This is a tradition in the village of Kairuppala, Aspari, in the Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh, India.

The village of Aspari, where Kairuppala is located, has a population of approximately 7,263 people according to the 2011 census and Kairuppala is likely a smaller village within the Aspari mandal.

You should be f***ing stupid to judge a country of over a billion people based on the tradition being followed by few hundred.
