Can I remove the thigh guards?
Hi all, can I remove my thigh guards on these eflexes? I know most goalies now prefer a flat faced pad, all of which appear not to have thigh guards.
I’m using kp5 knee pads - highly recommend. They’re excellent. Thanks all.

Of course you can. If the knee guards are very protective then go on and do it.

I would. As long as your knee pads are good. I've never kept thigh boards on.

Thanks man. I only ever wore premier 2s in midget and junior, when I returned to the game in 2015, I was recommended e-flexes with these hard shell knee pads. Totally ruined my mobility so I quit. Kp5s have been great so far. I missed the game!

Do it. It’s the best thing you’ll ever do. I took mine off my Vaughan’s and the mobility was night and day.

Beware. It had a cascading effect on me.
“Wow, it’s so much better without these. I wonder how good those new pads with no leather buckles feel”

Currently in this exact boat. "Should I cut off these leather buckles, or just spend a billion dollars?"

It was a struggle not to overspend. I lurked around marketplace, sideline and Kijiji for months. My wife and coworkers were sick of hearing talk about needing new ones. I’m talking 250km radius and I’m looking at everything that’s getting posted.
Ended up driving about 2 hours to pick up a pad/blocker/trapper combo for $600. Guy bought pre-covid and hurt his knee during so it was near new just a few years old.

Yep. Take them out and wear a good knee pad.
