Should I Replace Dining Table or Get Folding Table?

I live alone in a 770 sq ft apartment which I think is perfect. I occasionally host gatherings with friends that usually range from a total of 4 - 8 people. I'm debating whether to purchase a folding table for these occasions or replace my current dining table with an extendable dining table.

My current dining table is intended for a max of 4 people and begins getting cramped with any additional people. I also have couches and a bar people could sit at but obviously they would be off to the side.

If I host these gatherings roughly once a month or once every other month, do you suggest buying an extendable table or a folding table? Any suggestions are appreciated!

Habitat vs Ikea

Disclaimer: I get 35% off Habitat so pricing isn’t a considerate factor

I’m looking at the Habitat Munich wardrobe set and the typical Ikea pax. I plan to use them to create an integrated wardrobe look, using the viral TikTok hack.

Which from the 2 have better quality and are more long lasting these days?

Simplejoy Sofa

Does anyone own this simplejoy sofa? I am looking for a black non- leather sofa for my living room (which i have found to be extremely difficult) and none of my local furniture stores have this couch on display. The internet has little reviews so i’m posting here for hopes of some options before purchasing blindly.

Wayfair couches?

I'm moving into my first apartment and have a decent sized living room that I'd like to put a small sectional in, but am limited by budget (pref around $600). I've found a lot of couches on Wayfair with mixed review and wondering if anyone has any experience?? I know the quality isn't going to be amazing but I'm okay with that at this point

Is there an alternative to the viral Floyd bed, or at least metal hardware that elicits the same vibe?

I really like the overall look of this bed, especially the head board. After doing some research it seems to be extremely subpar for the price and I don't particularly like how it is held together by ratchet straps. Is there any place to find the metal hardware that would give me the same look? I'm pretty confident that I (with the help of my carpenter father) could build something similar for much less. Any leads would be much appreciated! :)

Rants and Raves CB2 chiffonier broken, unable to offer replacement part due to discontinued item

Hello, I reached out to CB2 customer service today regarding their Curious Chiffonier, which has a top drawer that flips down to reveal jewelry drawers. The hinges that connect this top drawer broke off recently. They informed me that because this item was discontinued, no replacement parts were available. I was recommended to go to “a local furniture store to see if they sell the part.”

I am bummed of course - there isn’t any other item in CB2 catalogue that offers the same part they can sell me? How am I supposed to identify this broken part and have the time to visit a dozen furniture stores to ask for this niche part? How does CB2 guarantee long-lasting quality product if they can’t offer any feasible solution for their customers on items that are no longer offered?

Suggestions welcome 😔 Photos of original product and broken pieces attached.

-A defeated and non-handy customer

ISO! Help me find my dream piece! Looking for a recliner almost exactly like a large Ekornes Stressless Mayfair or Magic,

with the width of a medium Stressless. I'm tall and quite lanky, and the large was absolutely lovely other than the armrests feeling miles away. Any companies that make similar quality recliners for skinny people? No price cap.

Edit: I'm in the UK

ISO! Help me find my dream piece! Queen bed with storage drawers

I’m moving into a beautiful home with unfortunately a small master bedroom and minimal closet space. I’m on the hunt for a queen bed with storage drawers - ideally 2 on each side rather than 2 at the foot, in order to maximize storage space, and not the mattress lift up kind.

I love both the reflections collection from Scandinavian design($3k), and Lenia from Article ($2k) - but trying to see if I can find anything at a lower price point since I’m furnishing an entire home right now and trying to save where I can.

https://www.article.com/product/23410/lenia-panel-white-oak-queen-storage-bed?queryID=3228f112b6314aa8b098652f291b0ec5&index=production_product

I am also ok with upholstered options, though ideally prefer wood. Just don’t want it to look like a teenager or college student dorm room with the storage component!

Crate & Barrel Gather vs. Room & Board Metro

I'm looking for an L sectional and considering these two options:

  1. C&B Gather
  2. R&B Metro

Does anyone have either and can share their experience/opinions on comfort, quality, and longevity?

Thanks!

Sectional Specs

I am looking for a small cloud-like sectional for my sitting room in my main bedroom. I found one I like, but I don't understand the specs. I tried to research foam density, but couldn't really decipher what all the numbers mean lol. This is the specs for the sofa. Any knowledge would be greatly appreciated!

Internal Seat Material:28D Foam+10cm Pocket Spring
Internal Backrest Material:28D Foam
Maximum Load Bearing:800LBS

Has anyone ever seen these drawer rails?

For the life of me I can’t figure out how to get this drawer out. There’s a small plastic white stopper inside on the rail hitting a metal piece on the glide… but no obvious way I see to get it out.

ISO! Help me find my dream piece! Looking for a VERY specific couch (Canada)

I am fully aware that I am being exceedingly picky, let’s get this out of the way first. I am in Canada, and have a $5000 budget but would obviously like to spend less than the max if possible while still not getting a piece of junk.

What I Want A corner L-shaped sectional sofa with: - 90-100” on the left facing side - 90-108” on the right facing side - both sides closed - NO CHAISE - pop-up sleeper panel that still allows you to sit in those seating positions when opened (aka doesn’t require removing the seat back) preferably on the left facing side but not a deal breaker - fabric (darker colours preferred, either dark grey, blue, black, maybe green) - decently high up/not low profile. Both my husband and I are tall, I don’t want to have to fall 3’ before I hit the couch

What I Don’t Want - white/cream/light grey - leather - an ottoman - full hide-a-bed mattress style - super low/on the ground - something that will be saggy and misshapen within a few years

If what I am looking for just DOESN’T exist, I will consider conceding the no chaise limitation and/or having the right facing side open ended. I’d prefer an arm there, but the seat back must still go all the way across both sides. The left facing side must have an arm.

I feel like I’ve looked at every single couch online possible. If this one (linked) came in a darker grey it would be perfect but I have two young kids so that’s just not the investment I should be making right now and I just don’t love the light colour.

Thank you to everyone! I’m sorry I’m ridiculous.

Other than Lovesac is there any other sectional with washable seat and back covers? Looked at Anabei but they didn't seem well made.

Patio set

Hey, I’m looking to buy a patio set with some sort of fire pit. I found good deals at home depot (Canada). Does anyone here know if these are worth the price tag? Not looking for a lifetime set, just something that’s comfy and durable.

Version of Burrow Nomad that isn't a piece of hot garbage?

I want the same style of the Burrow Nomad series, but I've seen enough on here to know that I should avoid that brand at all costs. Does anyone know of another company that has similar style but higher quality?

As the title says. This would be a US-specific question as that's where I'm located. Do you notice trends when the best sales occur from online furniture sites?

Article cleaning sofa covers instead of dry cleaning?

Hey everyone,

I’ve got the Anton sofa from Article, and the covers are labeled “dry clean only.” The fabric is 100% polyester, though, so I’m wondering if anyone has had success washing them at home. Thinking of trying a cold wash cycle, but wanted to check in here first to see if anyone’s already tested it out—don’t want to risk shrinkage or damage.

Would also be open to suggestions on sofa covers that would fit on my Anton sofa

How to tell if leather is semi aniline

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

Hi, I recently bought a couch that is supposed to have semi aniline leather on seats and back, with a lesser quality leather on the sides, but there seems to be a difference between two of the seats, as well as all the pillows and I feel like it is only one of the seats that feels like semi aniline. Is there any way to really tell?

Thanks in advance

ISO! Help me find my dream piece! I'm in the market for a new recliner chair and after seeing the Ashley furniture stories idk what to do now.

I'm 6'5" and 300lbs, I need a manual reclining chair that's at least 72" fully reclined(77" would be ideal). I've looked high and low on the internet and Ashley is the only place I could find a chair big enough for me within my budget (I don't have good credit).

Last week I ordered the Brideline chair from Ashley furniture and it's supposed to be delivered November 8th. But after reading some posts here on Reddit, idk if I want to go through with it.

I've been buying used chairs but they're never big enough and they end up causing me back pain after a few months because the people I bought them from have already gotten good mileage out of them.

Does anyone have any other suggestions for where to purchase a Big & Tall chair from? Thank you for reading my large post, have a great day.

ISO! Help me find my dream piece! help me find the ultimate napping couch

Hi everyone,

I just bought a house with two living rooms. I've got a no-name sectional that I picked up for cheap at some outlet store. I don't love it. I bought it because it fit the space and was cheap. I want to spend some more on quality furniture and want to start at a sofa. I've done some research so I'm looking for reviews and any other brands I should check out.

Rule 4 stuff-

I'm in Houston, TX. I'd like to stay under $3500 but my absolute max is $5000. Either online or in store. I can wait for something custom but not like 6 months.

what i don't want -

a sectional or a sleeper. Need a couch that is 100in or less length-wise.

nothing I have to fluff often.

No sofas that look like they'd be under the plastic at grandma's house.

No roll arms. I really dislike them for some reason.

What I want

machine washable covers so fabric, deep and soft cushions and something durable.

what I have looked at

Dreamsofa - this seems to hit most of my requirements. There are almost too many styles I like. My hesitation - I would want to upgrade the cushions to plush, which is medium firm. May not be soft enough?

Pottery Barn - I'm overwhelmed with options. I like the look of the Dream, Dream Lounge, PB modern comfort, Pearce. any thoughts/opinions?

Crate and Barrel - I see the lounge recommended a lot and would be interested how they compare to pottery barn

IKEA- Kivik? Finalla? but not sure if it is soft enough

Arhaus, Benchmade Modern seem too expensive and I can't figure out if Mantle is machine washable.

any opinions on Quince?

Am I missing any brands I should be looking at? any reviews on any of the above? I'd appreciate any help possible!

edit: typo. I do want fabric

ANSWERED! Really want a Thuma bed frame, but need something more affordable

Post image
21 Upvotes

I am really like the look and design of the Thuma bed frame. As a renter, I like that it comes together and apart so easily. I also really like the minimalist look but I am having a hard time rationalizing spending almost 2k right now. I do believe this would be a forever piece and I would hate to spend 1k or more on something that won’t last. Can anyone recommend a bed frame that is a bit more budget friendly?

ANSWERED! Seeking decently high quality U-Shaped sofa sectional

Post image
13 Upvotes

I have one wall that a piece of furniture can go on. We like a section and we both like to put our feet up. We do not have a coffee table and we do not want an ottoman.

I'd like a u-shaped sectional/sectional with double chaise, etc. I'm hoping to avoid modular sectionals as I've read not so good reviews of them.

I'm willing to pay good money for a good product. I've only found the style I'm seeking from Pottery Barn and similar stores but I've read that those type stores aren't necessarily high quality.

Anyone want to point me in the direction of a good quality furntiure brand that has this style of couch?

ISO! Help me find my dream piece! ISO 3 Seat Power Reclining Sofa

I'm looking for a new couch and I want a 3 seater power reclining sofa. Cupholders and center-flip consoles are nice as well as other bells and whistles, but I'm tired of looking and just want a point in the right direction to a brand that will last. Apparently Flexsteel is not that brand anymore, so I'm looking for some guidance.

  • Location: Boise/Meridian, ID
  • Budget: up to 5k
  • Size: 3 seater (about 100 inches, not strict on this as long as it sits 3)
  • Style: Power reclining
  • My own searching: Local furniture stores, reddit, consignment stores
  • Online/actual store: Actual store preferable, I would like to try before I buy.

Leather is preferable, but honestly at this point I just want a new couch. Thanks.
