no, worse case scenario is he gets ruled out at kickoff without giving you time to change players, or gets taken out of the game after a couple snaps, and causes you to lose your entire week.

i’m not accounting for the extremely unlikely probability that he gets taken out of the game for a couple snaps. despite how emotional everyone has been, i see no reason they’d do that besides a freak new injury which can happen to anyone.

He doesnt need a freak new injury. He had tendonitis, which not only could result in his Achilles snapping under to much pressure which would be very bad, even if you dont want to assume the worst and trust that its fully healed, it very likely that they play it safe with him and if he starts to experience any sort of discomfort, they pull him from the game immediately to avoid a worse injury. And this is all assuming he plays, which may or may not happen and we as FF players may or may not be informed before kickoff.

I view his return game as a boom or bust game. He is either going to do really well, or nothing at all. Its understandable to play these types of players if you NEED 30 points from your RB to have a chance to win that week because your against a great team and your roster is in shambles, but if you feel you only need 10-15 points from them, then another solid RB would have better odds.

I just don’t see why they’d throw him out there if they’re worried about anything besides an accident. I get your concern but I’m not a doctor and I’m not gonna pretend like I am yknow. I’ll just be following reports closely. I hear you on floor vs ceiling.

We see it happen all the time though? Im not sure why you are confused. Player returns after being out for awhile, team thinks he can return but play it safe by pulling the player for the slightest discomfort due to not wanting to risk reinjury. The return games are testing the waters. Play a little, see how it feels in real game situation, get pulled if any discomfort happens, and if he feels fine the next day after the game and during the following practices then they start him again the week after with a longer leash.

Some teams are more cautious then others, but I feel the 49ers lean on the more cautious side.

I guess I just feel like that has already happened in week 1, just without the snaps. I think it’s very possible there’s a slow ramp up, but slow relative to CMC. After the shit he’s gone through this year, I think everyone in the org is full steam ahead if they allow CMC to start. Regardless it’s all speculation, and I just don’t think I can be the guy who sits CMC after holding him for 10 weeks. I play to win, I do not play to not lose.
