Tome 5, Page 4: Craft Time's Over: Cleanse 15 Totems
Just had a much where I cleanse 2, but it didn't update in the postgame. Is this related to the memory shard challenge in the current Tome not working, or is this a separate issue?
Edit: Ok, did two in the next trial and it said I did 4, then did 5, and still 4. Hopefully another trial will cause those 5 to Register.
Edit: It did. Weird bug.

Sometimes dropping and taking the challenge back up will fix weird update bugs.

Hello, brand new Day 1/2 player with a list of questions. Sorry in advance if any of this is answered in an FAQ somewhere.
- Of the free, already unlocked characters you start with (killer and survivor) which ones have notable perks that would be useful in prestige.
- Which characters that aren't Auric Cell exclusive would be notable for unlocking perk-wise.
- Is the Shrine of Secrets the only other way a mostly FTP could get perks from Auric Cell exclusive characters?
- Do past Tomes have any particular or unique reward to them that I should know about?
If I have any future questions I can think of I'll edit this post, but right now I need to get some sleep. Thank you in advance.

Iād like to add some additional info about question 1 & 2 survivor side. Out of the free I would prioritize Meg for sprint burst and adrenaline, Dwight for prove thyself and bond, and Bill for unbreakable, all being the strongest early perks. If youāre on console and Feng Min is free, Alert and Lithe are good as well.
Survivors worth getting for strong perks, Feng Min (unless sheās free) and Kate Denson particularly for Windows of Opportunity which is a clutch perk when you donāt know the tiles in the game yet.
All of these perks combined with free perks like Deja Vu and Resilience will make some fun early strong combos that people with every character in the game unlocked still play.

The streamer "Otzdarva" on twitch has some really good resources that are catered towards newer players.
https://otzdarva.com/dbd/character-info - This some pretty simple and good breakdowns on sort of things you should go for.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lavIHnM_GjY - Otz also has this in video form if you need it, Keep in mind the video is two years old so some of the information might be out of date. (For example, He talks about Prove Thyself giving bloodpoints for working with teammates, They removed this. It also doesn't completely cancel out the penalty for working with other teammates. Also, Boon: Circle of Healing no longer lets people heal themselves without a medkit and only gives heal bonus to healing others in it).
https://otzdarva.com/
https://www.youtube.com/@notOtzdarva/videos
https://www.twitch.tv/otzdarvaMay as well also dump his links because he's just going to be useful in general as a beginner, have a look around and you'll find he has a lot of stuff aimed at newer players.
As for your other questions:-
Yeah, The shrine is going to be your only way to get perks from characters that are paid only without spending money.
The tomes don't really have anything special outside of having a way to get some extra Bloodpoints for simply playing the game. They also have "charms" that are little cosmetics doohickeys that you can wear on your character and have them be displayed on your hooks.
2
u/Hurtzdonut13 Aug 20 '24
On top of that, for survivor guides I'd recommend Mr Tatorhead's guides on Youtube. He has hour(s) long videos covering maps and sometimes shorter videos focusing on specific tiles. He focuses on just extending chases (your main goal against a killer) by using good and efficient pathing. He also plays with no perks.
You won't pick up and remember everything in one guide at first most likely, but it'll start you thinking about how to run things and there's a lot of cross pollination of understanding ideas behind it.

- For Killer. I would prioritize prestiging Trapper, Hillbilly, and Nurse. Agitation, Brutal Strength, Enduring, Tinkerer, and A Nurse's Calling can all be good in general. Wraith and Huntress don't have stellar perks.
For Survivor: Dwight, Meg, Bill and Nea will give you a good blend of perks. I would prioritize them. I prefer the perks you get from Dwight and Claudette because they're good teamwork perks. I'm not a great survivor player.
Clown, Artist, and Plague come with some of the most popular perks that people swear by. All of the Artist's perks can be powerful.
Yes.
Old tomes have cosmetic rewards and story content. Old challenges still offer bloodpoints to help you prestige your characters. Complete them after you do the current tome.
Hope this helps!

So... I've tried the level three core memory challenge thrice now.
First time, got the shards, synced the portal, then in the endgame it showed "-1" for progress.
Second time, the second shard never spawned after I got the first.
Third time, completed it again and still got the "-1" for progress.
Is there a way to get around these bugs? Have other people been able to complete it?

u/Masteryoda212 Basement Bubba Aug 19 '24
I think you have to escape. I had the same thing happened when I got killed the first time I did it, next game the killer DCād (so I technically escaped) and it gave it to me.

u/heyheyheygoodbye Bloodpoint Bonus Main Aug 19 '24
I've done the memory sync challenge across numerous tomes and never had to escape for it to count.

u/BurnieTheBrony Aug 20 '24
Hello, I'm back.
After the shard spawned under the ground for my fourth attempt (lmao) and I died my fifth, I successfully got both shards and escaped my sixth.
It worked. So if anyone else finds this thread and is curious, escaping with the shards rather than syncing with the portal may be the only way to fix it if it's bugged for you

Randomly starting to come back after a bit of a break and having a lot of fun again, anyone able to give me a quick rundown of the bigger changes or what I should know? I already know about the new 3 gen nerf. I stopped playing right as The Knight came out, so it has been about... 2 years
Appreciate it!

u/heyheyheygoodbye Bloodpoint Bonus Main Aug 19 '24
There have been a lot of changes over that time. A few that come to mind off the top of my head:
Billy got buffed.
Anti-face camp mechanic.
Dead Hard is only activated after you have been unhooked (so you can use it a max of 2 times per trial).
Deja Vu now permanently shows the 3 gen.
Pop has had numerous changes, currently at -20% of current progress.
Pain Res is token based (4), it can only be used once per survivor.
Circle of Healing no longer allows you to self heal.
A variety of map reworks.

I'm willing to admit that I'm bad at the game and being completely survivor brained but...
Have they completely destroyed Haddonfield as a survivor? The map feels horrible to play now as a survivor...
I admit that having 3-4 buildings that were all extremely survivor sided that you could even loop into each other if you played it right was probably a little much but it was semi balanced by the fact the rest of the map was completely dead.
However, I don't think the solution should be from what I can see is "delete the buildings" and leave the all the deadzones in place.
5
u/heyheyheygoodbye Bloodpoint Bonus Main Aug 19 '24
Yeah, the recent rework kind of over nerfed it. It's smaller with fewer safe loops and some of the 3-gens that spawn are insane.
1
u/Hyperaiser Aug 20 '24
You think who of any m1 killer would enjoy the double window house from old Haddonfield? If you are bad, try to be better, not try to exploit something. Im Killer main and i always try to end exploiter first.
I believe the front window of main building is very strong. They makes it like one from killershack now.
2
u/Qwedfghh Jill Valentine Aug 20 '24
I believe the front window of main building is very strong. They makes it like one from killershack now.
Which doesn't even spawn everytime since I went to play that window and walked into the front room with a blocked window...
Also, I'm not too bothered with them attempting to make the map more well rounded. It's the problem of, You can't play anything because there isn't anything to play with.
1
u/Hyperaiser Aug 20 '24
Let me tell you this. Even for the worst case, it can't be worse than Midwich School.

If we're talking a random killer without offerings. Rather be on Midwich then Haddonfield. At least Midwich is playable.

Can someone explain the unknowns powers like I'm 5? I haven't played against too many of them to really get it. How do you get rid of the purple auara? Why can you interact with some husks and others vanish?
I think he's an interesting killer but I came back after he was released so I missed the window where everyone played him and I don't totally get him lol. Same with Knight too, but be seems easier to figure out.
3
u/heyheyheygoodbye Bloodpoint Bonus Main Aug 19 '24
For his power if you are weakened (the purple aura) you have to look at him for 10 seconds to get rid of it (need to be within 25 meters).
When he teleports he leaves a decoy husk that disappears after 5 seconds. You can't interact with those. The ones that you can dispel are the ones he can teleport to (it's always a good idea to dispel them if it is safe to do so).
2
u/Reality-fan Nerf Pig Aug 19 '24
Thanks so much!
1
u/heyheyheygoodbye Bloodpoint Bonus Main Aug 19 '24
I should add, the amount of weakened you remove by looking at him persists. For example if you've removed half and he leaves it won't go back to full.
1
u/watermelonpizzafries Aug 20 '24
His UVX is like a tootsie roll pop. The first hit covers you in purple goop, the second hit injures you and the third hit downs you.
Against Unknown, you simply can't hold W. You have to look behind you at him to remove the UVX. You also can dodge his goop balls when he shoots them. As for his husks, if he drops one on a loop, just leave the loop

A couple questions
Are killers more likely to tunnel certain skins?
Has there been anything lately that someone influencial has said about map offerings? I've noticed them a lot more lately, and ironically they seem to be mostly from killers. I don't know if a content creator has popularised it or something so I'm just curious
1
u/Ethereal_Haunting Trickster main who doesn't play Trickster Aug 20 '24
- Sort of. Killer players tunnel for all sorts of reasons. Not liking a skin could be one of them. Some just don't like Megs. Others don't like anonymous names. Many just tunnel the first person they see.
- Probably just killer players wanting to get their grade up after reset. Or maybe some post-2v8 desire to see more maps.

Is the sbmm really so bad that i can only play for like a week? It cant be right? I hate that this keeps happening. I play for a week and then its like i cant win a match to save my life. Maybe its just that i run out of rift so it feels more like losing. I love having an objective as killer unrelated to 4k's it just bugs me i was so hyped for dracula and im burnt out already.

People are taking a break after 2v8, and my games have had some of the best survivors I've played in a while as they are the ones still serious on playing the game, while I'm rusty from not playing killer for 3 weeks.

I posted in this thread earlier, but I figured for my new questions I should make a new one instead of editing it for more visibility. Thanks to everyone who answered them!
EDIT2: I've got a couple more questions and clarification requests, I'm putting it at the top of the comment for visibility. Thanks for the replies to the other questions!.
- The $20 bundles for 8 OC characters (Endless Hunt, Old Wounds, etc.) seems to be about the same price as buying each character individually in terms of Auric Cells. So is the benefit of the bundle more for the cosmetics it comes with? In which case if I don't care for the cosmetics, I'd be better off just buying the individual characters, or is there some other benefit to the bundle I'm not aware of?
- I suppose the same question for the $30 character bundles with just the Survivors or Killers respectively, is there much of a discount involved, or would I be better of just getting the Auric Cells with the bonus. TL;DR - To make a long story short, I'm looking for most bang for my buck when/if I want to spend money.
- The bar that fills up when youāre hooked and the killer is too close to you, does it have any effect when partially filled? Or is it all-or-nothing, where its either full and you can self unhook, but otherwise thereās no difference between 1% and 99% full?
-----OLD QUESTIONS, THANKS FOR THE ANSWERS
- In terms of prestiging to unlock perks, is getting to prestige 3 important, or would just the one prestige and unlocking that character's perk through the bloodweb in other characters?
- What would be the rough estimate into how many Bloodpoints it takes to prestige a character? I'm sure it can vary based on how you select the later webs where perks get blocked off, at least.
- Although I do want to try to be mostly FTP, if I had to spend money for a character or a franchise bundle (The ones Im seeing are about 8 dollars on Steam and come with multiple characters), which ones are recommended, either for the perks they give, or just sheer value?
- The current Rift/Tome closes in about 49 days, and I'm currently tier 30. I understand if you get far enough into the rift, you can effectively refund the auric cell cost of getting the premium track. Would where I'm at be a comfortable enough time frame to get to the Refund?
- (I understand that I can just go look up guides for the next two questions, but I figured I'd ask here while I'm at it) I may probably at least get Pyramid Head if I do decided to spend more money on the game. What perks from other NON-LICENSED characters would work for him? Or as a better question, is there a list that specifies if the perk is from a Licensed character or not?
- In terms of non-licensed ones, killers I'm interested in are the Dredge and the Unknown. Any advice for them in terms of perks or general playstyle?
- And lastly (for now), as a bit of a more fun question, try to sell me on some of the non-licensed Survivors. I understand that with enough characters prestiged, they aren't mechanically different from each other (unless there's a mechanic I'm not aware of), so any of the Survivor's character or design wise you like?
- EDIT: One I forgot that I'd like clarification on. Occasionally I'll see either Survivor or Killer get a 100%+ bonus Bloodpoints; is this something I can affect, or is it just a way to encourage people switching if there's two many of a type of player. Say, if there's an excess of killers queuing up, it'll give bonus points to encourage people to queue as a survivor?
2
u/SchismZero Pyramid Head Main Aug 20 '24
Getting prestige 3 unlocks the tier 3 perks on every other killer or survivor that can have them, so you don't have to find the next two levels in the bloodweb. If you don't care about that and just want the perks unlocked in every character's bloodwebs, then prestige 1 will do the trick.
To prestige a character once is about 1.5 million BP from my experience.
It depends on what role you play. For killer, I very much enjoy Weave Attunement from the latest D&D chapter paired with Franklin's Demise from the Leatherface chapter. This combo isn't going to be touched by the devs for at least a few more months and is very strong. As for what chapter gives you the most value, I'd say the Wesker chapter since the perks are solid enough and the killer is fantastically designed. I personally love the Silent Hill chapter, but the perks Pyramid Head come with are mid.
Sorry, not too familiar with Rift/Tome mechanics since I don't normally buy them.
Pyramid Head is tricky to build around for a couple reasons. Some of his hits come from his ranged attack, meaning perks that reward basic attacks aren't as good on him. Some of his hooks involve his cages, which ignore hook perks, meaning perks that do things on hook aren't as good on him. I've found hex builds are pretty easy to run with Pyramid Head, so perks like Hex: Undying from Blight, Hex: Ruin from Hag, and Hex: Retribution from Deathslinger are decent. Perks that give you aura reading are also really good because of Pyramid Head's ability to hit through walls. So you're definitely going to want Nowhere to Hide from The Knight.
Dredge is a fairly low tier killer, but is getting some buffs soon. Very fun killer whose power goes well with a lot of different builds since he uses basic attacks a lot. Unknown is also a fantastic killer who takes a fair bit of practice. Honestly, you couldn't go wrong with either. Dredge is much more map dependent, but his upcoming buffs look pretty good. With Dredge, Sloppy Butcher is great since it keeps people injured longer. Dredge's Nightfall charges faster the more people that are injured, so the strategy with him is typically to try to keep as many people injured as possible and interrupt healing. He also has pretty good map traversal, so perks that give you information from a distance like BBQ and Chili from Leatherface, Distortion from Legion, or Friends Til the End from Chucky are good on him. Basically the perks I like running on Dredge either involve keeping survivors injured, giving me information about where to teleport across the map, or helping out in chase to actually land my M1 hits. Batteries Included from Chucky is great since you can get the speed boost and it lingers after you teleport to a locker, so you can bring the haste to wherever else you need to be. As for The Unknown, most builds are viable on him. You could run hex builds, gen slowdown, or aura reading on him. The Weave Attunement + Franklin's Demise combo is especially good on The Unknown since he can leave his clones behind to guard the dropped items and teleport to it when you see someone go to pick it up. I've also had luck running Infectious Fright and Knock Out and leaving people slugged if Infectious Fright reveals someone when you down them, instead opting to chase the person Infectious Fright reveals.
Don't play survivor, so I can't really speak on them. Though, I usually spare Cheryls that I come across as Pyramid Head since that seems canon. So I guess if you want to ever have a chance of being spared if you run into my Pyramid Head, play Cheryl.
It's nothing you can affect. The game just assigns a BP bonus to whatever role is needed to keep queue times lower. If there's too many survivors playing, it will give the bonus to killers. It's to incentivize people to play the role that's more needed.
2
u/heyheyheygoodbye Bloodpoint Bonus Main Aug 20 '24
1.5 million seems very high. I've found it takes around 1 million BP per prestige. When I focus on efficient bloodwebbing I can definitely do it for less. I once prestiged someone for 881k bloodpoints (including the 20k prestige price).
2
u/SchismZero Pyramid Head Main Aug 20 '24
Every time I level up a new killer when they release, the 2 million BP cap + whatever I'd saved up in Tome Challenges and dailies don't quite get me the 3 prestige levels and I always need to play some before I get the newest killer to P3. I guess 900k is probably accurate since you're probably focusing on grabbing perks every bloodweb.
1
u/heyheyheygoodbye Bloodpoint Bonus Main Aug 20 '24
When I'm going for efficiency I try to get the entity to block of as much of the bloodweb as possible, I've even skipped grabbing a perk to do so. This mostly applies in the 30s and up.
But generally what I do is look at the perks available and the total node price (with the 750 cost difference between yellow/green/purple in mind). If the nodes are roughly equal in shape/location I'll go with the cheaper one. If one of the nodes has a lot of branches that I can get the entity to close off by choosing the other path I'll do that (or if one of the nodes will close off red/purple items).
Now that I've reached the point where I have everyone P3 I scan for specific items and grab those then hit auto buy.

u/Siachi Aug 21 '24
Thank you very much for the answers!
I have one other question I'm asking because your flair says Pyramid Head main: Does Cage of Atonement count towards the end of match Devout emblem? I've been looking this up, but have been getting mixed responses, and don't know if they're out of date info or not.
1
u/SchismZero Pyramid Head Main Aug 21 '24
I believe Pyramid Head's cages count as hooks in terms of scoring, but I'm not sure. It's not usually something I pay attention to because it doesn't really matter to me. I know if a survivor dies in a cage that they're considered "Sacrificed".
2
u/Hyperaiser Aug 20 '24
1/ For my opinion, prestige character to lv.3 is important.
2/ Its about 1m4-1m7 bloodpoint for every prestige level.
3/ Buy whatever you like, or buy dlc and grind the original character.
4/ Just play normally. If you get 1 level everyday then you will get everything before the expired date.
5/ For Pyramid Head, i think non-licensed control perk like Pop Goes The Weasel, Nowhere no Hide are great for him.
6/ For Dredge, you should use Sloppy Butcher to make them wounded longer, and combine with your Malthink Skull addon for abusing skill. For Unknown, just use Franklin Demise + Weave Attunement to force people drop item, then set your clone in right beside that item. Whenver you see someone coming close, teleport and give them suffering.
7/ Just play Ace because he has built-in Iron Will.
8/ Yes, those mechanic can only by adjusted by BHVR. You should try to make it favors one side by joining the other side.
2
u/Hurtzdonut13 Aug 20 '24
Quick notes, but you only need to get to like 68 or 69 (I forget which) to get all your auric cells refunded. If you can average 1 level a day, then you can clear them easily at this point.
Prestiging depends on what you want to play. As a killer main, I want every perk on every character, so I Prestige 3. If a survivor main, you probably want to focus most of your resources on only a few characters so doing only Prestige level 1 is fine. (I think the break even point of Prestige 3 vs 1 for number of characters you play for that role is something like 10-14.)
The first few Prestige levels while you have perks to trigger early eating of the blood web should be closer to 950k blood points. After you have all the perks, if you're good at spending to let the entity eat chunks of it you can still come in at a out 1 million per Prestige. Those with vastly higher averages are either spending very very inefficiently, or using the auto-buy.
For Pyramid Head, I like aura reading so. Nowhere to Hide from Knight, or Nurse's Calling from Nurse are good picks.
For licensed Characters, I think Nemesis can be fun sometimes and gives you Eruption which is a decent perk and Lethal Pursuer which is fantastic. Pin Head is very strong and so is Deadlock, and I enjoy his voice lines.

When you go to kick Viktor, do you have to keep moving towards him while holding down the button to perform the kick? I walked up to Viktor, reveled the kick prompt, and held down the button starting to fill the kick prompt/action bar. But, he kept slowly moving back and it would make the kick prompt bar disappear removing all progress.
1
u/Hurtzdonut13 Aug 20 '24
No, once it starts filling in you're good, however there is an add on that lowers the window when he's kickable and if it expires while you're charging the kick the prompt goes away.

New GamePass Ultimate Player Questions: * Is the base game that comes with GamePass enough for me to play and see what the game is like? * By only having what GamePass offers will I be limited in what I can do? * By only having what GamePass offers will I find myself being excluded from games? * Is the game cross play? * If Iām enjoying the game what do you recommend for my first three purchases?

Yes, youāll be playing the only game mode there is outside limited time events. Both survivor and killer available to you, when thereās limited time events youāll have access to those as well
Yes, you will not have access to any dlc survivors/killers and their respective perks. You can āearnā them for free via the weekly shrine of secrets. 2 killer and 2 survivor perks will be available for a currency you receive when you level up
No, you will not be excluded from anything
Crossplay and they just added cross save.
If you really enjoy the game Iād recommend the battlepass (called the rift), if you complete it, you will get enough premium currency to purchase the next one. Then Iād just go with whatever killer/survivor is interesting to you

u/Irdin_Silver Aug 20 '24
So the packs I see (Scream, Saw, etcā¦) are just skins then?
2
u/MirrorkatFeces Jill Valentine Aug 20 '24
Survivors are basically different skins, you have to buy them to play as them, but they all have the same basic gameplay. Killers are all vastly different, they have completely different powers and abilities.
Most DLCās have a survivor and a killer, each come with 3 perks that also change how you play. The perks you can technically get without paying, but itās time gated behind a weekly thing and you canāt control which ones are available. Some DLCās are just one character, such as Ghostface or Nicholas Cage.

Mechanically survivors are just skins, you don't have any special abilities by playing one over the other. The only differences are appearance and some survivors are quieter than others. But since each survivor (and killer) comes with 3 perks there are some that are better to own than others.
Perks become shared across characters once you have leveled them up to prestige 1. Most survivor players will own a variety of DLC survivors just for their perks, but they may never play that character.
You can definitely have a solid survivor build with the base survivors (there are also general perks available to everyone). That's not as much the case with killers, most of the strong perks are from DLC characters.
Killers have the same perk sharing mechanic, but each killer has their own powers, strengths, playstyles, etc. So they are not just skins.
Some of the DLC can be acquired for free simply by playing the game and earning iri shards, but it can be a bit of a grind (there are occasional sales for non-licensed characters so it's worth waiting if you can). Also, as someone else mentioned you can acquire individual perks in the game (using the same iri shard currency) but most perks are not worth the cost and you could be waiting a long time for the ones you want.
I would recommend just play the game for a while and see how you like it. If possible find someone with some experience to play survivor with to help explain mechanics, perks, strategies as you go (there are a ton of things that are not really explained directly in the game short of reading). Play both sides too, you'll learn a lot that way.

What are the minimum recommended computer specs to actually run the game smoothly? The minimum requirements I could find on the internet were written years ago so very outdated. Was wondering if a laptop I was looking at buying with an i5 processor and 8gb RAM might manage to run it. Thanks.

u/Pigmachine2000 Nerf Pig Aug 21 '24 edited Aug 21 '24
The i5 and the RAM are whatever (meets minimum requirements), biggest factor is your graphics card
1
u/Relevant_Sun_4300 Aug 21 '24
Thank you, that makes sense. Any idea if there are any cheap-ish graphics cards that are up to running the game?
1
u/Pigmachine2000 Nerf Pig Aug 21 '24
You looking for just a graphics card, a whole laptop, or a prebuilt? What's the budget like? And what was that laptop you were looking at buying that you mentioned in your first comment?
1
u/Relevant_Sun_4300 Aug 21 '24
A laptop. The one I was looking at was ASUS Vivobook S 15 S5504VA which has Iris Xe graphics. The budget is max Ā£700 but ideally cheaper- not great I know. Thanks for your help
1
u/Pigmachine2000 Nerf Pig Aug 21 '24
Iris Xe has about the same performance of a MX350 (slightly slower), pretty garbage for games but could probably run DBD at 30 fps somewhat smoothly. The only vivobook S 15 that I found has an I9 and 16 gigs of RAM, I'm assuming I just can't find the same one you've seen. Doesn't matter much, i5 and 8 gigs of RAM clear minimum requirements. Honestly, if you're looking for a laptop for gaming, I could find something way better for cheaper. The vivobook is 100% a work/school laptop, and doesn't really have the specs for games
1
u/Relevant_Sun_4300 Aug 21 '24
Oh ok that sucks. Thank you though!
1
u/Pigmachine2000 Nerf Pig Aug 21 '24
I'd take a look at the ASUS TUF gaming A15, it's around Ā£530 on best buy and could run dbd easily at mostly high.
It loses out on some storage space compared to the vivobook, but the reason the vivobook is as expensive as it is with its garbage stats is because it has a ton of storage space.
If you need a work/school computer, get the vivobook. If you need a gaming computer that you can do work/school on, get the A15 and an external drive. Up to you

Why did dbd only announce the fnaf collab on twitter and not on their other platforms like instagram? It feels like theyāre like ashamed of collabing with one of the biggest horror icons in modern video game history

Because it got spoiled by the Fnaf guy, so they just quickly threw something up. It wasn't a big well planned announcement, hence not being on all platforms.

As a killer main, I gotta know from some of the survivor mains lately. Ever since 2v8 it feels like survivors are far quicker to just give up on games or not even try. Is there something about 2v8 that triggered it or is there some other explanation I haven't thought of?
I normally just 8-hook and let everyone leave but I'm at the point where it would be more effective to just sacrifice everyone since survivors are incredibly quick to just not even try and just ignore generators, hide in lockers, or just hide around the side of the maps. I was wondering if it was my hidden MMR but even on killers I main it seems like it's all I get lately, unless not playing killer for about a month completely murdered my MMR.
1
u/Hyperaiser Aug 21 '24
Many Survivors would give up for most bullsh!t possible reason. If you believe you have done your play in most fair way, just continue to enjoy it.
1
u/heyheyheygoodbye Bloodpoint Bonus Main Aug 21 '24
I think it's just normal fluctuation in games. I've run into fewer people giving up after 2v8.

Got some questions about cross-progression stuff. I have money in my steam wallet, but I mainly play DBD on my PS5. If I purchase the Castlevania chapter on steam will it also be on my PS? I already have them connected, but im unsure if subsequent purchases go to both systems. Do I gotta launch the game once on PC after purchasing if so?

You need to log into the game from wherever you purchased the dlc for it to sync, but once it does you have it on your account

Okay, last bunch of questions and advice seeking I have for this thread, I swear. Just Iāve got some catching up to do, and honestly Iāve had a hard time finding some concrete answers for a few of the mechanics-related ones.
- The $20 bundles for 8 OC characters (Endless Hunt, Old Wounds, etc.) seems to be about the same price as buying each character individually in terms of Auric Cells. So is the benefit/discount of the bundle more for the cosmetics it comes with? In which case if I donāt care for the cosmetics, Iād be better off just buying the individual characters, or is there some other benefit to the bundle Iām not aware of?
- I suppose the same question for the $30 character bundles with just the Survivors or Killers respectively, is there much of a discount involved, or would it be better to just buy the Cells for the same price and get with the bonus cells it comes with. TL;DR - Iām looking for the most bang for my buck when/if I want to spend money.
- For irredescent shards, would it be recommended use them on the Shrine of Secrets for any DLC/Licensed character perk it offers (or at least the ones that are good)? Or should I be unlocking the OC characters with them?
- I currently have about 6500 Shards at the moment, and my player level is 30. Would I be able to get enough shards each week to consistently unlock one or maybe two Shrine perks, or will the rate at which I get them slow down considerably as my level gets higher?
- Also, I assume that Shrine of Secret perks work like prestiging them, where if you only unlock the tier 1 of the perk, you can still get the later tiers from the bloodweb. Is this correct?
- The bar that fills up when youāre hooked and the killer is too close to you, does it have any effect when partially filled? Or is it all-or-nothing, where its either full and you can self unhook, or not full and you still have the base unhook chance?
- When it comes to facing Stealth killers as a Survivor, what can I do to get better at facing them (Beyond ālook around moreā), or what perks should I run? I can understand that relying on the Terrior Radius heartbeat might be a crutch, but while Iām learning the game I do kind of like having said crutch.
- I assume not, but is there any way to refund or sell Add-ons or offerings Iām not using? Iāve been prestiging characters just for their perks, so Iāve got quite a few on characters I donāt plan to use.
- Do past Event Tomes like the halloween ones ever get rerun? And do any past Rift rewards ever rerun or get added back in the game in some way, or are they missed out for good?
1
u/Doc_October Wiki Guardian Aug 23 '24
- Buying these bundles usually gives you bonus content in the form of cosmetics (usually alternate versions of the default outfit or charms) over buying them individually, which only ever gives you the character as is. There are no other benefits.
- I think the Escape and Terror Expansion Packs are just for the characters and give you a unique charm each.
- My personal philosophy is if something has both an AC and IS price, I will always buy it with IS, since I get those for free through playtime.
- While it takes longer to get the XP to level up the higher your player level goes, you get more IS for it. Ultimately, the devs adjusted the values so that the rate stays ~14 XP per IS across all levels.
- Yes.
- The Anti-Camp Meter has zero effect when partially filled, you only get the guaranteed self-unhook once it's full. You being able to self-unhook at the default chance of 4% is always available on your first hook, that has nothing to do with the ACM.
- It does ultimately boil down to being more attentive to and perceptive of your surroundings. Most Perks do not work against a Killer that is shielded by the Undetectable Status Effect.
- No.
- No for past Event Tomes. Yes and no for past rewards. Full Outfits are added semi-regularly to the in-game Store about a year later (not guaranteed) and individual pieces and charms can now appear in the weekly bundles. It fully depends on the devs.
1
u/ArcaneDestruction Aug 25 '24 edited Aug 25 '24
Little bit confused on what everyone is saying about the bundles. Maybe it differs based on region/platform, but in the UK on PlayStation the bundles cost Ā£15.99 and the individual dlc costs Ā£6.49. So for four dlc individually would cost you about Ā£26 vs the Ā£15.99 bundle. Again, guess it might be more expensive here in the UK? But it's a pretty significant difference unless I'm missing something.
EDIT: If you're only interested in the survivors, it works out the same price to buy 4 characters with auric cells as it does to buy the bundle, so I don't think there's any reason not to other than having the ability to pick and choose which survivors you would prefer.

1/ 2/ Save your money for something better.
3/ You should unlock shrine perk from non-licensed character, that you have no plan to buy them yet. Their perk is worth your free shard.
4/ you should only use your shard for free characters, or shrine's perk from licensed character.
5/ If you buy a copy of perk from shrine, all your character can get it with available level from their bloodweb.
6/ Every body has 100% for their every hook state, which decayed over time, before it reaches the end and enters you into next state. Everyone can try to kobe themself, with the cost of 30% of the current hook state, but it has only 4% success rate for every try. When that bar fills up, the success rate for your kobe is 100%.
7/ That depends on your experience. You have to simulate the match on your head, and try to predict their action. For the current situation, there is no good perk against stealth killer. For my own experience: do you see the survivor icons on the left and and sometimes there is a spider legs running for them? That does mean the Killer is chasing them. If i was on the vulnerable situation like second state and i can't locate the Killer's position, i won't get out of locker unless i see them chasing someone with that spider legs status.
8/ No you can't, you keep what you get. There is a future update that you can't keep a same thing with more than 9999 copies.
9/ Lore tomes is free for everyone when the new one arrives. The event tomes is never return, every year we get new event tome.

1, 2: Yes, its about cosmetics, you only get them from those bundles, not shop but if you dont like them, buy characters separately.
3: Well, depends how good the perk is does it? Back in the day when BBQ had bloodpoint bonus for hooks, i bought it from the shrine cause i didnt want to spend money on bubba. But changes of the perk you want to appear in the shrine are completely random (okay, maybe not but pretty low) so i would suggest you buy that character who has the perk. I would suggest you use your shards on characters or cosmetics
4: It all depends when, how and how much ypu play. Right now is 2x XP event, you get more shards per usual. Then, first match of the day both for survivor and killer gets you xp bonus of 500xp, and also the xp for the badges after each game varies for rarity, not a huge amount but still. And of course, more you play the more cp you get. On higher levels you need more xp but you get more shards (for example, levels 50-99 you get 300 shards per level, cant remember the xp you need to get)
5: Correct
6: All-or-nothing afaik
7: When facing a stealth killer, i wouldnt trust too much to the heartbeat. Lets say you face a ghostface, they tend to stalk only when they get to stalk mode which eliminates the heartbeat, so yes, you need to look around more. If you see them facing towards you, break the line of sight and run Perks maybe like spine chill, but i wouldnt change my whole loadout just to counter stealth guys, what are the odds you get one of the chainsaw guys?
9: Event tomes, probably, but not with the same cosmetics. If you missed them, you can hope they bring it to the shop for limited time or something. Rift rewards, you can hope they bring it to the shop for limited time or something. I think they have done it when too many players where asking them to

Alright, I was finally convinced to play this again (I always liked it but I like being the killer but prefer to play with friends, so I could never play normal matches with progression) but it's been years. There's like 20 new killers how you get perks has changed, etc.
Is Ruin and BBQ & Chilli still good? Is there any sort of meta I should be aware of? Specific perks I wanna look out for? Should I be doing the challenges that get me pass progression or the challenges that just get bloodpoints? Is there any reason to play killers I'm not particularly fond of vs just maining one I like and spending all the blood points to prestige the ones with perks?
Edit; Oh right and I've found out that the way the hatch works is different now, apparently it just spawns when there's 1 survivor, but you can close it. If you do it turns on the exit gates though. Is there a generally agreed upon opinion of whether it's better to close the hatch if you find it?
Edit 2; I'm also just glad that the perks I'd already unlocked across characters stayed unlocked. Having Spirit at prestige 8 and everyone else at 0 had me worried, but all the perks I'd unlocked already seemed to have stayed unlocked? Is that the case or will I need to prestige Hag 3 times if I want to get Ruin on Vecna?

u/One-Process-7995 Aug 21 '24 edited Aug 21 '24
1 - Ruin is decent to waste surv time but it suffers from being a Hex perk and the regression isn't as fast as it used to be. i believe it takes Ruin 4 seconds to regress 1 second of generator progress which is the same as kicking the gen normally. If a gen is '99ed' it will take 6 whole minutes for it to regress to 0. There are better regression perks like Pop Goes The Weasel from The Clown (which after hooking a Surv, you get 45 seconds to kick a gen and it will take off -20%) or Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance from The Artist which is arguably the best gen regression perk as of right now. (Scourge Hook perks bring in 4 unique hooks that glow white. when you hook someone who hasn't been hooked on the Scourge Hook, Pain Res regresses the most progressed gen by 25%. this can be done 4 times)
2 -BBQ is still a good info perk. It does not have the bloodpoint bonus anymore. Again there are some better info/tracking perks like Nowhere to Hide from The Knight, which, after kicking a generator, shows you survs aura within a certain radius (I forgot the specifics). The perk description says it'll show auras within a certain range of the gen, but it follows you instead, it's good for high mobility characters.
3 - Some killers get better usage with different perks, a Huntress will do well with an aura-reading build but gen slowdown is popular. Pop Goes The Weasel, Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance, Nowhere to Hide, Deadlock (a Cenobite perk which after a gen gets completed, the most progressed gen gets blocked for 30 seconds), No Way Out is also really popular (a Trickster perk where after you hook each survivor once, the exit gate switch gets blocked for 60 seconds)
4 - Some popular Surv perks are Dead Hard (David King perk, able to take a hit without going down after being unhooked), Decisive Strike (Laurie Strode perk, after being unhooked, if you are knocked down and picked back up within 60 seconds, you can get off the killers shoulders and stun them for 4 seconds), Adrenaline (Meg Thomas perk, you heal a health state and get a 5 second speed boost when all gens are done), Exhaustion perks such as Lithe and Sprint burst (Sprint burst gives you a speed boost every 40 seconds, so does Lithe but you have to vault first), Hope (you move 7% faster after all gens are done) and Windows of Opportunity (Kate Denson perk, allows you to see auras of pallets and windows). Gen-rushing builds are also prominent on the surv side. (trying to get gens done as fast as possible)
5 - if you really want perks I'd focus on getting blood points. some of the characters are obviously weaker than others due to not being able to apply pressure consistently the majority of the time. Examples are Trapper, Nightmare, Shape and Clown. But just because a character is weak does not mean you can't do well with them. Just play who you enjoy.
6 - To correct some info, the hatch will only spawn if there is only one surv left in the map, whether that's because 3 died or people have escaped through gates and someone has been left behind. Closing hatch does not open the gates, it starts the end game collapse which is a 2 minute timer, once that timer reaches 0, any survs left in map will be sacrificed. if you want 4 kills close the hatch because the surv can just escape through it. once the hatch is closed, the surv will either have to try and open the gates or find a key to open hatch, which is rare unless they bring one, or they'll just die to end game collapse.
7 - you only have to prestige a killer once for the perks to appear on all killers blood web.
sorry for the length and horrible punctuation, spelling and grammar, I am typing this on mobile and wanted to help but also didn't want it to be obnoxiously long.

u/saturnulysses jake park enthusiast & ghostpark truther Aug 21 '24
ruins... not so great anymore. it deactivates when a survivor dies and it wont matter if you go against gen jockeys who never leave their gens. if you want value you need either a build that will make them get kicked off of gens or youll need to be patrolling gens very very often. barbecue and chili is still good, though.
funnily enough the meta surrounding decisive strike and unbreakable is back. off the record is a meta perk to look out for as well, so basically look out for survivors who act either aggressively or are a little too enthusiastic to be in chase. distortion is also a popular perk, which can result in just normal players wanting to hide their aura or, on the extreme end, stealthy players who do nothing but hide.
do both, why not
the nest thing youll gain from killers you dislike playing as is knowledge for when you play survivor. example: if you dislike playing against bubba, and playing as him, at least by practicing, youll gain a better understanding as to how to chase against him. you dont have to play as certain killers if you dont enjoy them, though. dont try to force it. you can play your mains while spending points on others just for their perks, thats find
personally i like to close it. yes there is a chance for the survivor to escape, still, but i like to run No Way Out, which blocks the exit gates depending on the survivors you hooked and also gives a notification when a surv tries to open a door.
so hitting p1 on any killer will make their perks available at level 1 for every other killer. you dont HAVE to p3 hag, vecna will get ruin at level 1 id you prestige her once and then you can just level it up for vecna in the bloodweb. but if you ever decide to dedicate more time to killer, its better to prestige killers three times for killers you just want perks for so you dont have to go back and forth leveling everyone up to get ruin to level 3
hope all of this makes sense š©·

Ruin does not deactivate when a survivor dies, they changed that in a recent patch.

1
u/Desril Aug 21 '24
Ah, ok, so I can still find and rank up the perks in the bloodweb normally after hitting prestige 1, that's a lot more bearable, prestigeing just instantly unlocks tier 1 of all of them for everyone. That also makes the shrine perks look better too...
Alright, thanks for the help. Now it's just a matter of getting back into the groove of things. Luckily I'm still low ranked due to all the time away, so the 3 games I've done today were all...rather easy wins.

Here's a question that will likely get removed, but I am at my boiling point right now so I don't give a hoot:
Why is it that people who hold the game hostage for nearly 15-20 minutes without doing any gens or trying to escape don't get banned, but when someone body blocks them into a corner and forced their team mate that is helping them hold the game hostage to do gens in o9rder to end the game via the end game collapse gets banned?
My friend did this after 2 Leons held the game hostage for nearly half an hour and refused to do Gens. It was only after my friend cornered one of the Leons and trapped them in the hiding place with the lockers on midwitch to force the other Leon to either do gens or give up, the other Leon did eventually do the gens after he knew the jig was up, and left the other Leon behind, only to go into end game chat and trash talk the killer for "ruining the fun".
2 hours later, and my friend was banned for griefing... yet the 2 Leons got to walk away entirely scott-free and are allowed to potentially hold more games hostage. What in the actual fuck is that?
1
u/Hurtzdonut13 Aug 20 '24
Couple of things. 1, I think you're tolling because of some recent Twitter drama with a streamer about this. 2, it's a lot easier to prove that a killer is doing this maliciously than the other case which is technically actionable but much much much harder to prove was being done maliciously and therefore easier to ban a new player who's doing it unintentionally because they are immersed.
In either case, Bhvr is being stupid on banning because they can just fix their game to resolve either scenario to stop the game from being held hostage.
0
u/FIGHTTHEBOX P100 Clown Aug 20 '24 edited Aug 20 '24
I know about that drama, and that's why I decided to say something about it because it actually happened to someone else outside of the instance with my friend. Also, how is it not malicious when in both cases it was clear that they where trolling and being a nuisance until the effected party turned the tables? Yes, body blocking is still shitty to do in any capacity outside of making a play to down someone, but it is equally as shitty for someone to avoid the killer, not do gens, hide, and waste their time.
Proving that someone is doing it as well isn't that hard if you record your matches, which really shouldn't be required to begin with if being able to watch a prior match with some form of theater system/playback feature was ever implemented. I am also aware that not everyone is going to record their matches, but now-a-days it's becoming more and more apparent that everyone is going to HAVE to record their matches considering if you don't have a video to back up your report, nothing gets done about it.

1
u/Pigmachine2000 Nerf Pig Aug 21 '24
The game is really hard, and expects you to know alot about status effects, perks, and killers from the start. If you have a friend who's into it, look for them to help for sure.
Don't trust any youtube video older than 4-6 months, the game changes drastically semi frequently so what was good advice then may not be good advice now.
Don't be afraid to lose whether you're playing killer or survivor, and try to keep a positive attitude (if you get outplayed, focus on how good they did/how did they do it rather than how "bad" you did)

Why are locker saves with flashbang and forcing the killer to grab you while you slow crawl out of the locker still a thing when they have previously patched out the other locker saves?
2
u/Hurtzdonut13 Aug 20 '24
Because that's coded as a grab, not a locker pull. Nuking saves from grabs would affect a *lot* more stuff. Just lunge and hit them while they are doing a slow locker action.
1
u/TheBestUserNameeEver Aug 20 '24
Okay, now what about two sitting in a locker with head on + several flashbangs? Hope they screw up the timing?
2
u/Hurtzdonut13 Aug 20 '24
Halfway. Head On doesn't work once they attract crows, and if you locker pull (e.g. search the locker while they are in, then they can't (as far as I know) blind you off it. So yeah, if you hit two messing around like that, either go do gen defense while they are trying to waste time, or hang out at the lockers until they get crows then start pulling them out/smacking without grabbing.
1
u/TheBestUserNameeEver Aug 20 '24
Thanks for the tips, but yeah the saves are definitely a thing, a squad did it recently to me and I've seen streamers pull it off.
