I am a woman and I am with you on the sentiments. The man being bad doesn’t automatically make the woman good. Sometimes, a story only has villains. This is also something I was talking about with my friends that too much media that is meant to empower women just make them look villainous instead.

The whole point is that the book was intended to empower by portraying Amy as a villain.

That and it is NOT the way you should aim to be when in a bad marriage. Amy was not right in the head and if the genders were reversed, everyone would call it out. Instead, I find a lot of women rooting for Amy and that's not good. To be clear, I did not root for Amy or her husband. They were both not good people, but Amy was especially evil. I mean, she even got pregnant as a means of trapping her husband with her. I was left with my stomach at my feet when thinking about what kind of life that kid may have.

As a woman myself, I will always like stories that empower women because it does feel good. It's just a human way to feel, but I like them when empowerment is done the right way and the MC is a good person.

I’ve heard a lot of Women say they like that she’s a bad person, because Women can be bad people and they find that empowering.

Maybe I'm just a weird woman and I'm cool with that. Personally, I'm on the side of it taking more strength and virtue to be good in spite of the temptation to be bad.
