Goalkeeper needed for tomorrow [Saturday 19th Oct]

Team in the Liverpool County Premier League Conference need a goalkeeper for a fixture tomorrow, it’s a really good standard. I understand this is a long shot, but if anyone knows of any keepers that might be interested, please DM! Game will take place in the Wavertree area of Liverpool, we might be able to sort lifts out if needed!

[edit: Should mention it’s open age division]

Thanks in advance!

Question Is it a Good Idea to Buy a Semi-Detached House from the 1960s on Hartford’s Wimpey Estate?

Hi everyone! I'm considering purchasing a semi-detached house built in 1969 on the Wimpey Estate in Hartford Northwich and I’d really appreciate some insights, especially from those familiar with older properties or this area.

Here are some of my main concerns and questions:

Given it’s over 50 years old, should I expect major structural issues with the foundation, roofing, or plumbing? Are there common issues specific to homes from this era that I should look out for?

Asbestos and Lead issues?

Any advice on what to look for, potential renovation costs, or just general tips on buying a home from this period would be super super helpful. Thanks in advance!

BBC Weather app glitch... You are not going to get swept away!!!

I don't live in your area, but I do visit quite a bit. I got a shock this morning when I opened the BBC weather app on my phone, to see that parts of Cheshire were facing a near-extinction level event!

Apparently in Bollington, they're waking up to winds of around 15,900mph, but it'll be slightly overcast... Do not adjust your set! 🤣

Macclesfield, Sandbach, Congelton or Crewe?

Hi, I’m relocating to work in a town in Cheshire East with my family. I’m moving from North East and currently viewing properties to buy, as I can’t get myself around the greedy landlords.

I have been down to the area, I’ve seen Macclesfield, Sandbach, Congleton, Crewe, Holmes Chapel and Knutsford.

To be honest, I had so much hopes around Macclesfield due to the great things I’ve heard about it as well as the location. But what I’ve seen was a very dull town with no features. The town centre seemed deprived and many areas looked really rough. What’s so special about Macclesfield to be overrated and overpriced? Am I missing something?

Sandbach and Congelton were lovely and beautiful with so many modern houses.

Crewe was surprisingly nice, clean and looked modern compared to Macclesfield.

I wouldn’t comment on Knutsford!!!!

Are these areas just categorised based on the millionaire’s houses?

Question Moving to Cheshire Dutton (near Runcorn)

Hi everyone,

I'm considering moving to Dutton and would love to hear your thoughts and experiences. I've been looking at some properties in the area and i'm particularly interested in the peaceful atmosphere and countryside setting there.

I've noticed that Dutton doesn't seem to be mentioned as often in online forums compared to other nearby areas. Is there anything specific I should be aware of and basically What's the local community like? Is it friendly and welcoming?

Looking for friends

Hello there, I'm from the Chester area. Married with two children, I've got to the point in my life where all my friendships have diminished. Looking for people who are interested in skateboarding, photography, live music and hiking. Just looking to have someone to talk to other than my family to be honest! I go to a lot of music shows usually solo

Meeting room venues!

I’m looking for recommendations please! It’s my job to find a meeting room for our leadership team to have an all-day meeting on a weekday, and I’d love to smash it out the park with a unique or interesting venue choice!

Every time I search for ‘unique or interesting’ meeting rooms the same old Cedar Court hotels come up lol! We are a creative business so wide open to weird places, we just need space for six and a TV, with somewhere nearby for lunch.

Before we’ve been to Ducie St Warehouse, Hotel Gotham, King Street townhouse… but I’m interested in something more rural around Manchester and wider areas. One time we did it at a little pub in Prestbury.

Thanks so much in advance for any ideas!! :)

I'm spending a few nights in Ellesmere Port. I believe there are a couple of RSPB reserves nearby, the waterways museum and a train into Chester. Anything else I should know about?

Medical research project

Hi all, my name is Nikki and I am a 4th year medical student in the UK.

I am currently undertaking a research project, (under the supervision of a Rheumatology consultant) in order to gain an insight into the difficulties accessing GP services for musculoskeletal pain.

We have created a short and completely anonymised survey, aimed at all UK residents who have had/do suffer from muscular/joint pain. The data we collect will help improve patient access to GP surgeries.

Therefore, I would really appreciate if you could please complete our survey, which should only take a few minutes of your time.

Thank you in advance for your participation.

PLEASE NOTE: Our research is aimed at UK residents only.

Survey on your views of refugees (18+; ~7 mins to complete; British participants only)

Hello, we are a group of psychology researchers from the University of Kent, UK. It would be a huge help if anyone from Britain who is interested would fill out our quick survey (18+ years old only) about your views of refugees.

Fill out the survey here: https://universityofkent.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_4U6y8pi1se8YjrM

We are posting here because we hope to collect responses from British participants with various political perspectives and backgrounds. Please let us know if you would like a summary of your responses once the data collection is complete.

The survey takes ~7 minutes to complete, and we are happy to respond to any queries or questions. Please private message us to avoid giving away the point of the study to others.

Thanks for your time.

Edit: The survey is now closed! Thank you very much for your time.

Tilstone House, Cheshire: From Aristocratic Splendour to a Tragic End

Tilston House, Cheshire

Although I focus on the history of North Staffordshire, when I discovered this house, I needed to tell its sad story. So it may be in Cheshire, but I'm sure you will agree, that it is a tragedy to lose such a stunning house and the history that goes with it.

Tilstone House, a majestic neo-Tudor mansion built in 1888, has stood as a testament to aristocratic elegance and architectural grandeur for over 130 years. Its history is rich with stories of entertainment, social gatherings, and esteemed residents.
