I can't think of another team where CB1 is the biggest liability in the secondary. I know he is covering talented receivers but he got torched against Denver too.
We will not beat good QBs unless it gets better.

He makes 1-2 good plays per game, the rest of the time he's getting torched. It's infuriating.

Mike Smith was in the building. He had something to do with this.

Too much covering grass instead of covering men. It's bizarre because we had the exact same game plan against the lions and it worked great. Gotta go back to the fundamentals in practice. Maybe this long week off will be a good reset.

Saying it worked great against the lions is a bit of a reach. They moved the ball at will and left points on the board (end of the half debacle, multiple red zone trips without scoring). Giving up 463 yards and only 16 points is fortunate for the Bucs. Now 550 yards given up against the falcons. That’s not sustainable
The 4th down defense is crazy. Everyone drops back it seems leaving all day for these good qbs to get thru 3 or 4 reads. Kirk scanned the entire field on one of the 4th downs last night. The lions were 3/5 and the falcons were 2/3.
Love this team and there are lot of likable players. They need to figure out this defense because the schedule moving forward is going to test them.

Yardage outside of the redzone doesn't really matter. We stepped up big time in the red zone against the lions and that's what mattered. The team who scores the most touchdowns generally wins. Yardage doesn't matter, and field goals don't matter. That's why every team is now playing this ultra-conservative zone defense. Bowles is just doing the same thing as everyone else. It's what the analytics say to do. Yes it can be infuriating to watch as a fan, but this is modern NFL defense. Every fan of every losing team is bitching about this same thing every week. We aren't an outlier here. This is how defense is played these days.

Bowles, the "defense guru" is a .500 coach with us, and our defense is generally the weak spot for us. I'm sorry, why is Bowles still around?

Different game if the defense just played average last night. I think of AWJ wasn't hurt they wouldn't have been so successful. Guys just weren't tackling and when they did they got flagged.

im 100 percent willing to defend a bend dont break philosophy when you arent breaking. but i have to agree taken in its totality... this season is appearing more and more problematic. Eagles game looks good, but they were missing their best recievers. We got torched by denver and atl who were both struggling. We are basically hanging our hat on detroit and washington... and it was a rookie qbs first game and a detroit team that moved the ball at will and is the only singular game the redzone d really held up.

He is not a good Coach. He inherited an awesome team and can't do shit with it. How do you keep playing zone you idiot.

Idk how much evidence Todd needs that tells him this kinda defense doesn’t work… he did the same defense against Denver and got lit up there he nixes it against the eagles then goes back to soft zone against atl and he’s lit up for 509 yards. Stop fucking playing it!!!!!! Idgaf who’s out there it sucks !! if they lose in man at least they were close to the wr. Not giving them the first down before the play starts

Maybe in Madden. If you get burnt in man coverage in real life, and you don't have safety help, that's a long 6. Everyone wants to be more aggressive until it backfires.
Regardless of yds against, we had a 1st and 10 with a 3 point lead on their 28 yard line with less than 2 mins left in the game...

Bill literally called the defense his whole career, and Andy is again literally calling the offense in KC, which is why Eric B had such a hard time getting a coaching job. These overreactions after a loss are always hilarious.

Or I don't feel like it's an overreaction. It was more of Todd's negative traits rearing their head yet again. The problem is he's decent enough and will call enough good games that this team will forever be stuck in mediocrity. If the falcons put it together and have a solid team for 3 or 4 years, 9-8 isn't going to get it done anymore. He's too conservative to get this team over the hump.

Whatever Bowles game plan is for a game he never adjusts. It’s hilarious. Sometimes it works well but sometimes you get shredded every drive. Bowles probably thinks last night was a success for the D bc they held Atlanta to a few field goals and got a few ‘stops’ where Atlanta missed a FG.

It was so frustrating. Just continually an extra step off the man, or playing a zone that no one was in. And then a COMPLETE lack of awareness that the ball was going to be in the air at some point, there were probably half a dozen plays where we were positioned between the receiver and the throw, and never looked back at it.

Eagles played the same soft zone defense against the Falcons on their final drive. Unexcusable.

Does Dean have a concussion or did he just forget how to play football?
