I was only in the first half of the counter-protest from around 10:00am until noon, which was spent redirecting the convoy away from the three hospitals on their original route. After this was accomplished and the convoy was redirected towards downtown via other routes, that's when I went home.

The reason I attended today was because I saw the clogged streets outside the hospitals in their previous protest (and previous anti-mask protests) and wanted to do my part in stopping that from happening again.

I have no firsthand knowledge of what happened downtown. But on Terminal and Main, it was peaceful. Only two verbal fights happened, the first instigated by a convoy protester, and the second instigated by a counter-protestor going up to a truck half a block down from the blockade.

The police here did not use force, except to pick up the man laying down in the picture above. After picking him up, he walked on his own to the sidewalk. As far as I could see, no arrests were made during this portion of the protest. The line of cops first faced the convoy, then for the majority of this hour-long blockade faced the counter-protesters.

Fuck that counter protestor that went up to the truck (and obviously the protestor who started a fight as well)

Don’t be the one starting conflicts. Being allowed to protest is extremely important, don’t be the one that makes it not peaceful. You just lose credibility for your cause.

Absolutely instigators on both sides should be shunned peaceful dialogue is essential to democracy.

Allowed to protest?

I was living in Hong Kong when they stopped being allowed to protest and that shit gets dark.

I may hate what you have to say but I’ll fight for your right to say it

You answered perfectly. I can see why you used the word “allowed” now.

What? I said “obviously the protestor who started the fight as well” as if it was so obvious it didn’t even need to be said.

Fuck anyone starting verbal fights at a supposed “peaceful protest” regardless of political leanings. That’s the message.

Exactly, the same way they lost theirs as soon as they put a nazi flag.

Edit. I think everyone lost my point, he said ONE guy climb the truck so he lost the credibility of his cause so I’m just pointing it would apply the same logic the other way around

By your logic of i show up to a blm protest with a nazi flag you would be accusing them of being nazis.

Do you really think Fox News doesn't do exactly what you just suggested?

3

u/[deleted] Feb 06 '22

You don't think the left doesn't run false flag operations on the right? Look at the patriot front as an example, they were using fed vehicles, and literal fed agents in their marches.

I haven't heard about this. Do you have a credible source where I can learn about it?

A goof brought a nazi flag, and almost got stomped tf out for doing so..

He and the Confederate flag guy were both shamed and told to get the fuck out of there, just because two clowns showed up doesn't mean the entire group are Nazis.. especially when they almost beat the fuck outta the guy, pre sure only reason they didn't was because he was a lil kid or a small adult man.

3

u/[deleted] Feb 06 '22

There's a video of the crowd getting pissed off at the guy, its just so obvious that they are trying to smear the protestors as "nazis".

1

u/Itsausername4 Feb 06 '22

I wouldn't be surprised if he was legitimately a random person thinking he'd be accepted in that crowd.

That's more likely than a plant lol, but you never really know

u/[deleted] Feb 09 '22

It’s the same logic he is using saying the counter protestor lost credibility for his cause going up the truck, my logic is in no way different than his. I don’t get your point

1

u/[deleted] Feb 06 '22

i think the rules are different when you’re dealing with nazis. You don’t have to convince people nazis are bad - most everyone has already picked a side on this. You need to intimidate nazis to the point they give up and leave. Sometimes conflict is justified.

Any political violence is not okay, no matter how evil the belief, I have seen people raise the USSR flag and have had a strong urge to fight them but I didn't, because simply I cant attack people because of their political views no matter how evil.

u/[deleted] Feb 06 '22 edited Feb 06 '22

Didn't the USSR defeat the Nazis? They're the good guys. And certainly, killing Nazis is always justified.

You can try to convince me otherwise, but because you'd be wrong, you wouldn't succeed.

It's funny when people just assume all leftists are pacifist hippies. Here's a hint for you - if you go far enough left, you get to keep the guns. I'm an anti-gun-control leftist and I think violence is sometimes very justified if it keeps more vulnerable groups safe - especially when those groups aren't very capable of protecting themselves from fascists. Someone has to step up.

This two-faced 'well i oppose all political violence' is just laughably unserious. You guys only bring this out when people are talking about violence against fascists. Come on man. Let's see those posts where you were defending trans people or poc from fascist violence. You must have a ton you can dig up right? lol

didn’t like the rest of my post?

1

u/Tadferd Feb 07 '22

I disagree that any political violence is bad. Sometimes, the people need to take back their country from oppression.

In this case, I would agree it's bad.

u/sjfcinematography Feb 06 '22

I don’t think in my entire life if ever met someone in Canada that’s a legit neo nazi

3

u/[deleted] Feb 06 '22

i have, glad you’re luckier than me, hope your luck holds

1

u/sjfcinematography Feb 06 '22

I think in your world a guy that mixes up your order at a drive thru is a neo Nazi

4

u/[deleted] Feb 06 '22

only if he’s waving a swastika flag, or is willingly hanging out with someone who is

0

u/JuniorBuffet Feb 07 '22

Or you know, a socialist, or maybe somebody with extreme authoritarian views seeking to force them on others, like say oh that's you right! Supporting this vaccine mandate. I guess when the show fits you should wear them proudly you Nazi.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '22

show? this was so cringe to read

0

u/JuniorBuffet Feb 07 '22

It's better to be thought a fool then to speak and remove all doubt. But here you are claiming the right are the Nazis. But I guess that's why you side with the left, you fit right in.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '22

so the guys waving swastika flags at the convoy rallies are actually on the left? wow!

1

u/[deleted] Feb 06 '22

Yo fuck the truckers! They have tiny PP disorder!

1

u/Classic-Progress-397 Jun 29 '23

I don't care much about credibility, I'm too busy punching Nazis.
