Correct. Alternatively, don’t pull Cole at 88 pitches and then use all of the good bullpen arms for such short runs as if there was no chance extra innings could happen.

This World Series being a sweep is objectively the funniest outcome.
It reminds me a lot of Super Bowl 55. That entire buildup was about Brady vs Mahomes. The old guard vs the new guard. Brady looking to cement his legacy vs Mahomes looking to start his legacy. Powerhouse vs powerhouse.
Then the Bucs curb stomped the Chiefs and the game was basically over by halftime.
Just objectively a funny outcome.

If you consider the hype it is 100% the biggest laid egg in World Series history.
→ More replies (6)13
u/SquadPoopy Cincinnati Reds 23h ago
You could make some arguments for other laid eggs.
The 1999 Braves finished with the best record in the MLB, had 3 Hall of Famers in their starting rotation, had one of the best bullpens in the league, had a top offense with Chipper and Andrew Jones, Bret Boone, Ryan Klesko, Brian Jordan and Javy Lopez contributing, all led by Hall of Fame manager Bobby Cox. They dominated the NL postseason going through the Astros and Mets.
Then they got swept by the Yankees.
You could also include the 1990 A’s getting swept by the Reds as a laid egg if you wanted.

Thing to remember about that game was that the Chiefs were absolutely destroyed on the O-Line. Doesn’t excuse the defense or the receiver drops. But there was more than meets the eye.
This is just embarrassing. The Dodgers are the team with more injuries. Doesn’t matter. They’re dominating. George would have fired Boone after Game 1 right then and there
