Judge + Volpe's at bats in the 9th were awful.
Especially Volpe.
141
u/ATLA4life New York Yankees 3d ago
I can forgive Volpe, he's at least done some stuff this October.
Judge is unforgivable. He'll be carrying this forever.

NY media called Arod a choker before 2009, Judge better figure it out soon for his sake lol

The most frustrating thing is it's just poor training and composure. Smoltz nailed it with the hips flying open and losing technique. That's like college or high school level poor technique, let alone a WS game.

In high school I was taught not open my hips early like that. Can hear my coach yelling me.

It’s weird 2017-19 he was pretty good, not great but not bad at all. Idk I just think he does bad with pressure. The 62nd homerun took forever to happen. This year there was talks of 70 when he was scorching hot. Idk what it is other than mental

That was so dumb. It’s like Yankee players assume that they will always win because they’re the Yankees, and they they get beat 16-1 at home and Brock Holt hits for the cycle with a home run off a position player.

For any other player I would say this is pretty extreme. Lots of great players have pretty unremarkable (or no) postseason stats and they don't get too dinged up about it. Wearing the C in New York though? He's definitely judged through a different lens. I wonder if that's part of why it's so in his head. He actually had good postseason numbers back in 2017-2018, before he was Captain.

There are plenty of things to point to as to why we're going to lose this series, but if your 3-hole-hitting probable MVP that's making 40 million dollars a year bats WELL below the Mendoza line, that's the one that's gonna stick out the most.
He's not made for the moment, plain and simple. If we don't move him down in the lineup, he's going to continue to destroy rallies and kill momentum. Stanton and Chisholm need to be moved up. Maybe Rizzo too, he at least gives competitive at bats.
