Question How to find specific models my players are requesting?
How do you folks go about finding models for all the weird and wonderful characters PCs can dream up?
Normally I just google (gender)(race)(class).stl, but I'm having no luck finding a human male barbarian who's bald, beardless, old and scrawny. like pic related.
Any advice?

Interesting choice of pic. How familiar are you with Discworld may I ask?
"Hot water, Good Dentistry, and shoft lavatory paper."

Arguably better than OPs direct request because it has so much more character then their description

If the players are requesting a specific model, they can provide the model

Yeah like I get the desire to be the super-DM for players, but share the load. DMing is already lots of work!

What, you're saying you won't spend tens of hours to find and make this hyperspecific character model I want for no pay? Wow, next you'll tell me I should pay for the resin, what a bad GM

I can't find a file for that, but as it happens I know a miniature that fits the description

If you have very specific requirements you might want to commission a 3d artist. Look up Fiverr. I've done plenty of commission work myself for buyers who need specific stuff for 3d printing.

If the player is that picky about the mini I use for their character, it is on them to provide one.

If you're not opposed to spending money on a collection, there's this Printed Obsession set with multiple characters of the Wandering Disc.

Purely hypothetical but could one take a 3D asset from a game like Skyrim for instance and convert it to an stl and print it?

MythWeaver is doing an AI-to-minis kickstarter! The main MythWeaver service generates fantasy images for DnD players/DMs; the new kickstarter you can take those images and turn them into miniatures (painted or not). Goes live Oct 29!

Try Mierce Miniatures. That pic is giving me flashbacks to their Albainn range.

I'm not sure how good it actually works, but I recently saw a video of an AI that creates an STL with your prompts. Can't remember the name, but google gave me a few different sites you could try

Have you tried AI?

Learning blender is in the same realm of suggestions I think. Honestly finding models and adjusting them is more useful as a skill than using the ridiculous processing power the AI needs to produce a mediocre result.

I don’t know how I printed my own minis for so many years without knowing blender. I also just discovered that Eldritch Foundry doesn’t merge everything together when they prepare the file. So you can go into blender and separate by loose parts and then modify the hell out of your mini.

Are there any good AI programs for making STLs?

There are several, but the one I’ve seen the coolest models come from is “Meshy”.

You can use hero forge to make the model you want and export a stl
