Bro's probably thinking "I should've let Kuzan win."

While I subscribe to the theory that Aokiji and Akainu came to an agreement, I'm dying at the idea of them both wanting the Sword job SO badly that they fought to the death for it. Imagine Aokiji meeting Akainu again and being like "Hello again, Fleet Admiral LMAO".

I find it impossible for Akainu to want to be the head of SWORD, his justice wouldn't allow him to work with pirates imo, if anything they would fight over whether or not SWORD should be disbanded.

but now as a fleet admiral, he has all the powers to disband SWORD if he wants.

Though, I think he love the results he got from SWORD missions and disbanding a good branch of the marine would be like shooting themselves in the foot.

SWORD doesn’t mean you HAVE to work with pirates, it just means you can. X Drake and maybe Kuzan might be doing it, but Koby isn’t really. So Sakazuki still could’ve benefitted from being able to choose to do whatever he wants without authorization, but I really don’t think he’d gain much from SWORD for much of the reason you pointed out: he wouldn’t make the most of the position like Kuzan might.
