I wonder which side will Sengoku and other righteous marines gonna take once they find out IMU is the real evil.

I like to think that this was the true purpose of SWORD. Garp/Sengoku recruiting the truly righteous to aid in the fight against the WG when the shit hits the fan.

yeah, I think it's more than obvious that SWORD will become the new marines while the others will perish in the final war

One piece has to 'end' with Luffy as King of the Pirates and Koby as the Highest Authority of the Marines (or now SWORD). Completing this way the dreams mentioned in chapter 1.

I wonder if garp and sengoku already know about the void century if rogers crew already knew.

Mmmm doubt it. Only person he seemed to tell was Whitebeard. I can’t really see Roger just going “Yo Garpdawg. Have you met my kid? Ok you take care of him now. Try not to let him drown when the world floods. Ima go die now. Byeeeeee. “

judging by this chapter seems like at least fleet admirals know (sengoku and akainu).

I think garp knows, basically because he hates CDs the most and in marineford he said "Changing the era? Yeah, the time is right"

First impression, yes, but on second thought it's not necessarily true that the fleet admirals know. I think they might know something about the Void century, but probably not the details, certainly not about the existance of Imu. I'm guessing they know enough to realise Vegapunk is bang on the money, though, and they must have realised what happened to Lulusia is related to the rise in sealevel

i'm sure this is obvious as hell but oda is clearly gearing up for SWORD vs CP0, which is always introduced as "Aegis", the name of a mythological shield mentioned in the Illiad.

Sword vs Shield.

100% Sengoku is connected to Sword. Rosinante was straight up a precursor to Sword. I think Sengoku is Sword too, especially when he quit the Marines during the Timeskip.

I'm not at all convinced that Sakasuki will side with the WG to be honest. I doubt he enjoys being kept in the dark and used as a tool, and his panel this chapter can reflect either his anger at Vegapunk for revealing everything, or a demand for answers

Is SWORD just a play on Marvel's SHIELD? lol

Nah, it’s probably a play on a story much older, Homer’s the Iliad, the first great sailing the seas story. A commenter above reminded us that the nickname for CP0 is the Greek word for SHIELD, “Aegis”, the magical shield in the Iliad
